The sororitas' charge on turn one reminded me of a Ciaphas Cain quote "That was all we needed, a bunch of psalm-singing fanatics in power armour getting in the way of a properly co-ordinated military response. I hadn’t had much personal contact with the Ecclesiarchy’s orders militant in the past, but on the few occasions I had done, I’d found their undeniable martial prowess so closely allied with the worst kind of Emperor-bothering tunnel vision that deploying them effectively in anything resembling a coherent battle plan was all but impossible. The best you could hope for was to point them in the vague direction of something important to the enemy, shout ‘heretic!’ and leave them to it. If you were lucky they’d put a useful dent in the opposing forces, and even if they didn’t, at least you’d got them out of the way before they started preaching at you."
"excuse me, do you have a moment to talk about our lord and saviour, the god emperor of mankind?" "umm......oh look, a heretic!" "where?!" "there!" "AAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!"
SPOILERS FOR BATTLE BELOW A pain-driven penitent man-robot sawing a diseased, pus-filled chaos lord into mulch, then being melted to death by his acid blood, is about the most Warhammer thing that's ever Warhammered. Bloody great battle.
I always love watching SayHiPaul. His knowledge of the lore of EVERY army and the beautiful painting of EVERY army is just astounding, as @nipitas Bless Saint Paull. When Paul used the +1 shooting act of faith on his Battle Sister squad, not sure of his command point situation at that point, I was a little surprised he didn't use it on his Cannoness then use the 3 point strat that gives that act of faith to everything in her bubble, so every sisters unit within 9" would be hitting on 2's.
I love Paul, welcome back mate! Love your paint jobs Paul.. Sisters sound like they could be a top tier army if played correctly, with command points and Faith points.
Hooray! Winters and Paul! It’s always a massive treat to see two beautiful armies that the two best players bring together for another epic battle. And I’m more than happy to see that the Paul Curbishley Fan Club is as successful as I knew it would be upon it’s inception. All that was needed was to name it, and Paul’s awesomeness would keep it barreling forward like the juggernaut it is! Once again, the two of them present us with a visual treat, narrative brilliance, and armies with backgrounds that are something that I’d be interested in reading about in a codex, or even a novel. Obviously, Winters’ narrative of the Thirteenth, as presented in several “Storytimes”, is a really imaginative and well thought-out background story- and every time Paul comes for a visit, he brings an army that is full of characters that he’s obviously given thoughtful backgrounds to. It’s apparent when he shows us the army and gives a thumbnail story of each character that Winters points out. I’ve never once seen him at a loss for words or detail when Winters asks about a specific model- it’s not made up on the spot (or if it is, he’s a master of coming up with stuff at the drop of a hat!) or just dismissed with an “I don’t know, I haven’t thought that out yet”. Aside from all of that, though, is just how likeable these two are- a great afternoon would consist of having a game with them, and sitting around talking into the evening with a few drinks. Failing that, I am pretty happy just to get to watch the two of these gents enjoying a game full of good-natured banter with a couple of beautifully painted armies. So, Winters and Paul- thanks to the both of you guys- this is a great start to a new year!
By the Throne! I've never seen anything chew through terminators like that Penitent Engine. These are Blightlord Terminators too. Holy death machines indeed!
Love Paul, his armies are top notch, his enthusiasm is second to none. Also he knows the lore and fluff of his armies and seems to really get into playing them. Have him back more please.
My first impression to the sisters: "Ah, space battle nuns." After seeing them fight, "Ah, space battle nuns, with war machines that just killed a bunch of zombies...."
Their lore in black library actually makes the twist on the Ecclesiarchy all the more hilarious. You see the Ecclesiarchy are actually the absolutely most Humanitarian and by far the most Tolerant faction of the Imperium. But they are also the ones who hold planetary holidays where you burn women on stakes, and have your poor put on plays of battles with live weaponry and instructions to kill.
What an epic battle. Great back and forth. The command orders is a fun twist and adds a lot more strategy. I love these bat-reps. The descriptions and explanations you give are fantastic. Thank you.
BEST...BATLE REPORT...EVER!!!! The narrative was INCREDIBLE!! Love this game! I liked the way you both took bad dice rolls in stride and kept the game moving forward!
With Mortarion battling elsewhere it might of been good to see Typhus in your death guard list, haven't seen you experiment with the pox walker synergy to their full potential. Also; PAUL PAUL PAUL!
Also this isn't competitive mini-max this is playing a game for both their and our entertainment. The current SoB if you're not troop spamming with 4+ invuln, vs most armies you will struggle
Great game, I love watching both of these players. When the penitent engines fight twice they pile in and consolidate each time, if you declare two targets you can activate, pile in kill your target consolidate, activate again and pile in to the second target. You have death to the false emperor against sisters as well.
I love to see Paul playing, he is a true fan of 40k and a guy that everyone want to have on the other side of table. Great content, great reports! Keep them coming!
Great BatRep. Paul confirms his legendary status once more. Very fair guy, great sense of humour and true to the lore which makes WH40k for me. Not forgetting you Winters, great stuff. You two have a great rapport. More please!
Amazing game guys! Both beautiful armies. Thanks Paul for bringing the sisters and not the saint! It's so much better watching an army play without special characters. Winters you almost always do that and thats one of the reasons that this is my favourite channel.
I watched this 2 years ago and have watched again today and its still ace. When Nurgles rot has passed I hope you two get together for some games again.
I very much enjoy Paul when he is on the channel. His love for the game, enthusiasm, and desire to add to the headcanon. Just wish he had a Blood Angels army to bring to the channel!
Great battle report! Gw really should make a system similar to 8th where you can spend 5 points or something to give you’re chaos lord or sorcerer mark of nurgle, so disgustingly resilient and all that. Would probably work for the other chaos factions too.
Have to say, I watch a lot of reports and the tables you set up are by far the best i have seen. EVery report has a new and fantastic layout! I would kiill to have even half of the terrain you have!! :)
Awesome battle, as others have noted paul is an excellent opponent. One thing i saw missed was that the Simulacrum models also have a bolter, and i was fairly surprised Paul did not attempt the 4+ deny the witch stratagem.
I hate how many disgustingly resilient saves he makes. But a thoroughly entertaining game none-the-less. Great work on the video and stay safe, both of ya.
All hail Paul! 4 way battle between Paul, Laim, Sorcerer Dave and Winters needs to happen! Laim must be forced to use his Necrons,if they actually exist, and all armies must be fully painted!
Thanks Paul for reminding me that it's a lot better and more fun to save CPs for Stratagems rather than wasting them on silly re-rolls. Your resistance is strong :)
Fantastic battle report, really nice to see Sisters purging the unclean :) I used to play Ebon Chalice in past editions, but now I'm considering switching to the Sacred Roses, they seem much more tactically minded.
@@maddragon7363 nope every 6 with the flail are another d3 attacks. But in that game He would still failed to wound. He was very unlucky in his First 2 turns xD

They also spill like mortal wounds, more sisters in the middle should've died. - I think Blightlords can only take one special gun per 5 models, so you had too many Blightlaunchers in there. - When Piling In to another unit one didn't charge, you can't hit it. The charging player can only hit units they charged, though they get to hit them back.
For the record.....we don’t mind when Paul digresses.
Paul Digressing is a Very Educational experience!
I like Paul, his enthusiasm for the game and his armies are top notch.
Me too! I am always happy when Paul is playing Winters. Also, props for having the Sisters. It is nice to see different armies in action.
On top of that it seems like paul brings something different every time
Everyone loves Paul. To hate Paul is heresy and will incur archo-flagellation.
@@travisatchison8429 well the man probably has more armies than shirts this point XD
Agreed, he seems a little more giddy when playing orks imo. nevertheless its always enjoyable watching when hes playing.
Happy when I saw sisters, happier when I saw Pail.
Pail is best.

What more could I ask for than Paul, Winters, and Sisters of Battle? This is like everything I love about Warhammer.
Best death guard army i've seen- they actually look like they are rotting and degrading.
They are great. That being said, I love Justin from The Independent Characters' DG!
As they should be. I'll resist going into an 'Outer Circle' style rant (whom i fully emphasise with) but... pls get rid of the tentacles GW.
