GR YARIS EXHAUST UPGRADE! Milltek Non-Resonated OPF Back System Installed

- A compulsory upgrade for any tuning project; a new exhaust! For my GR Yaris, I've opted for Milltek Sport's 3" Non-Resonated OPF Back system which we can hear both before and after around the install at Milltek's HQ on the Shmeemobile. What an improvement!
The Toyota GR Yaris arrived in my garage to be a bit of a fun project, and after making a livery for it with Dub Customs, the important next step in the process is by far and away to give it a little bit more of a throaty sound. While the GR Yaris is famed for its driving characteristics, it's fair to say that the stock sound is slightly lacking.
However, Milltek Sport to the rescue! While I was away in the USA, I leaned the car to Milltek to use as their development vehicle to design, engineer and produce the new exhaust. Already seeing huge success for their new system that's available with a number of different finishes, the Milltek OPF Back exhaust for the GR Yaris compensates for the throttled sound by the OPF and hugely improves the experience as a result. In addition, it also introduces a new mounting bracket to support the exhaust and prevents the huge levels of play that the stock exhaust leaves by holding it more securely in place.
With a quick run out, and a simple before and after comparison, it's very clear that this was a good move and the new exhaust sounds great!

The 90's 185 & 205 GT4 celica's had a purpose & the body suited such livery, now the GR hasnt done anything other then being a social media wanna-bee over-hyped hatchback..

I have a recommendation:
Do a rally build and put rally suspension with rally tires along with more power and take it out in the dirt
Hey Tim! Watching you having fun in your Hot Hatch makes me miss mine. I had an 1989 Isuzu I Mark RS, better known as the Gemini in Western Europe. My car had a D.O.H.C. 1.6 litre 4 cylinder engine developing 135 ps or 133hp and was mated to a close ratio 5 Spd gearbox. The body of the car was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and the suspension was tuned by Lotus. It was a blast to drive on twisty back roads. I lived in North Georgia at the time and drove the Tail of the Dragon numerous times. Cheers!

Now it sound so sweet. It's been a long time waiting for a really good pocket rocket from Toyota, but they it right. and the livery you choose was made for bigger car. but the rescaling works so good.
It would be so cool if you used the GR Yaris as a rally car for the road project - the Red Edition Focus RS felt more like a track weapon project and with the 90's Toyota rally livery it would be very interesting to see how rally car like you could make it, especially with it being the WRC homologation car. I can't wait to see the plans for it moving forwards.

Got a friend who put a Pandem widebody kit on this, he uses the car now for tracks/grip fun :D (Surely looks the part without being TOO MUCH).

You can buy a mirror riser, purchased one from an Aussie whom looked at the issue and designed and 3d printed a part, raises the mirror around 20mm
Also I notice that your not sure about the car and where to go as a project, most folk have gone the track route, so it would be great to see someone go the ralley route, with long travel ralley spec suspension etc

Hi Tim, have you thought about a few Litchfield upgrades, they are doing lower seat runners with new bucket seats which help with the mirror visibility problem. Very nice coil overs too by all accounts.

That does indeed sound better. Have you shut off the piped in speaker sound? A good feature on the GR Yaris is that the rear seats fold flat and with the heavily tinted rear windows it makes for not a bad little van. Thank you.

I doubt you'll see this, but that exhaust was mounted that way for a reason. The cars based off a rally spec, they're mounted that way so as you're driving on the dirt the exhaust can move. If it was solid mounted you would end up with cracks along the exhaust

Your thoughts at 14:10 is exactly why I love my Peugeot 206 Sport. It´s not the fastest or most powerful car in the world, but my is it fun to throw through tight and twisty roads.
This is so true I’m sure that I could beat a Lambo or GTR over snake pass in my i3s. They are just too big and wide to thrash over a mountain road.

@@Shmee150 apparently only 4,000 are due to come to the UK. You did well to get one so early as new cars ordered now won’t be delivered until mid/late 2022 (mine’s scheduled next May). Interestingly, around 60% are being ordered in while (flat or pearlescent), so black or red will be relatively rare.
