Nutrition Training for Ironman Mont Tremblant || Part 3

- Опубліковано 30 жов 2024
- Today is the third day of my Ironman Mont Tremblant Training block. A lot of my training has changed over the last few months. I am practicing some new things heading into Mont Tremblant. One of them is doing a lot more quality driven in my training. I also have changed up my nutrition plan for the Ironman Distance and look to test that in Ironman MT.

NEVER DIE EASY!!!
Suicide survivor turned Triathlete cause of your story !! Thank you for hope and DRIVE
Check out David Goggins
Feeling too tired to train? Want to chill with a big 🍕 instead.......then just ask yourself "what would Lionel do?" Instant motivation, thanks for the vids man!
This is really great way to interpreting ! Kudos
He would smash that slice and go on to smash the workout too.
Oh don't! I'm dropping weight for IM later this year and craved a Pizza today. Chucked some granola down me and hit the turbo trainer instead.
He would pin 8,000iu of epo and keep doing what he does and gullible fools think he's natty and somehow think it's a mindset
106 beats per minute at 90% Ironman pace.....and here I am out of breath after doing a squat....good god.
Lol right?
Yea but if you took half the shit he does you would do what he does
Lol I was like, rewind and thinking did he really said 1 hour @ 270 Watts with 106 bpm. 😳
Diego Hawkins
Of course he is EXTREMELY fit. But do you really think anyone would race clear? When it’s for money and sponsors? Nah. Lionel is on the juice like every top hitter. EPO has only 4 hours half-life.
YOU ARE FOCUSED AND DISCIPLINED........... YOU ARE A ROLE MODEL.
Even though I‘m from Germany and surely all the three German‘s (Frodo, Lange, Kienle) are you‘re biggest competition on big island... I like to follow you‘re videos a lot, giving a hell of a motivation to me. One day you‘ll win the big crown, stay as you are... you are the real Triathlon Rockstar!
Another amazing video.Thank you for the insight into your training and great footage by Talbot. Can't get enough of these Lionel + Talbot collaborations.
You are a beast with a absolute winner attitude, but no matter how you finish, I will be fan. Your honesty and dedication is a inspiration.
I've been running longer distances for a year now and then I came across triathletes and now I have started to cycle. I only have a year old mountain bike at the moment, but it is so much fun! Hopefully in the future ill pick up swimming as well. Youre and inspiration man! Keep it up.
270 watt recover... I feel weak now. Amazing athlete, great person!
Old school Rush fan can handle this music..
Best honest training vids! Thanks Lionel!!
Super appreciate your insights. “Efficiency is king”!
As a newbie triathlete I really appreciate you sharing your personal data (watts, run/swim pace). It's very motivational. Great videos!!!
@lionelsanders you were not my favorite last year because of the 'muscling' through style but now I am inspired how you really changed your style and going at it methodically and persistently. My money's on you this year. 😎
Lionel, Talbot....gold. TY boys! Cannot. Wait. For. Kona
you're the man. Can't wait to seeing your performance @ Kona . Greetings from Germany
Outstanding -going to get out MY snorkel -LOL!! GREAT idea for watching hand entry -thanks brother!!
Love these videos you’re putting out. Keep em coming!
I‘m certain these new adjustments to your training and your diet will help get you where you want to be in Kona. Keep these awesome videos coming #plantpower.
They mean nothing only a smokescreen for all the pharmaceuticals been pumped into him...270wts at 106hr hahah his hct must be tru the roof...proof right here drug testing is not worth a Fuck
Oh man. Running technique looks just aaaawful. Great video and great athlete tho. Good luck on race day
Marian FD maybe doesn’t look great but he mentioned what all matter on the race was speed/determination not style
The thing is that the guy who win is the faster
Max Trautmann yeah I know. But a “pretty” running technique is so not by fashion or style, but because of efficiency. He probably would run faster or at the same pace putting in less effort if he had a nice technique, therefore being faster. But hey, he can do whatever he wants still. Also, im a jan fan 🤘🏽
Marian FD technique is combo of practice and anatomy. Great insight into this is IAAF biomechanics study. Eg "The data captured on 10,000m champion Almaz Ayana shows a difference up of up to 20cm between the length of her strides from right to left (her right to left is longer than left of right)" www.google.ca/amp/s/www.iaaf.org/news/amp/press-release/2017-world-championships-athletics-biomechani
Humans have the same anatomy, the differences are irrelevant. The stride lenght is mainly influenced by the athlete's strength - technique deals more with the transition from flight to landing and vice versa. Lionel's poor form isn't anatomical, it's laziness. He simply doesn't practice technique.
Nuno Coelho his comments on technique in latest video don't count as working on it? You obviously don't watch his videos if you think he's lazy at anything related to triathlon....
What is in the smoothie? Kale, raspberries, black berries, chia, sun flower seeds, cashew milk. Anything else?
Absolutely amazing. I'd love to meet you someday. I'm also at immt currently, so who knows. Thank you for the inspiration and have a great race on Sunday!
Remus Mocanu go to the Louis Garneau booth he will prolly be there
fuzzheadtf i couldn't seem to find that booth unfortunately:( thanks for the heads up though!
you're inspiring me to step up my game this off-season to give it all i got - the lionel way!
You are a machine my friend. Super motivating thank you for sharing!!
Keep it up man. Love the videos! good luck this weekend
106 hr at 270 watts daaaaamn
the moment when you know, shit just got real
That is ridiculous
I watched this while on my trainer and I was at 106 at 115 watts. 😂
andrewisok i bet it would drift up over an hour too, 106 was his avg 😂
270 watts is nothing pro riders push way more watts easily for a very long time
Bonjour from France ;)
Nice videos !
Insane aerobic threshold.
Incredibile, I need to up my game, and stop eating this delicious food my kids have laying around... haha . Thanks for the motivation today while i sit here and ride my bike
Lionel..you grit is unreal. Truly inspiring. Do you have a go to core routine that helps you stay stable on the run and swim?
His run may look ugly...but damn is it fast for an ironman! I wish i looked as 'ugly'as that running a 3:30per km.
Good work man. I wish you the top spot on the Kona podium...
Great video man keep up the great work.
Love the videos keep them coming!
What’s your weight lifting routine? Can you show us set and reps of what you do? Lower and upper body?
Love this series!
Awesome Insight into what Lional thinks
Champion!!
absolute mad lad!
Amaxing..what a life. Eating, training, resting.. while others work 60 hours in an office. Wonder whats more exausting.
Men, you are a machine!!!!
Hi Lionel, Can you maybe have an episode going over your gear choice? I am very inspired by you, and I hope to compete on the same course as you soon!
106bmp at 270W is crazy. What what was your cadence?
I wish I could just train as a triathlon for health... your Training looks brutal. I struggle to run 1 mile with out stopping...but just starting back to. I hope to just run a 5k one day lol!!
keep it up takes time.. never comes easy
Kudos om the commitment. Try out some Chirunning for health and efficient running.
Love your videos!!! Keep it up
This guy lives the fucking dream
Appreciate your authenticity 💯💯💯😎😎😎👍👍👍
Let's do it Lionel........
What a inspiration 💪
good lionel
I wish I can hit the snooze button. I’m always up before the alarm even go off
Damn, that guy is a Monster
What are your racing flats? Are they also Skechers? What model? Keep up the great work!!
What, 270 watts for an hour and only 106 BPM.
I don't know if you do it but, have you tried to do mores drills to improve de running form to be more smooth while still confortable
Great 👍 👍👍👍
I’m thinking ESPN body issue....Best wishes tomorrow at IMMT!
may i ask why you dont use oval rings on the bike?
Lionel Sanders, can you write a generic training program for Ironman?
what kind of strength training are you doing?
Ahhhh, that Mexican tribe :-) ..... this food looks oh so delicious :-)
How does Lionel retain so much muscle mass?
What is the app for walking?
song at 7:25? Great work by the way! Keep it up :)
What is this running form?
People who make comments about the running technique, how many of you can run 25k at 3:40min/km pace?
You don't have to do something to be able to criticize others. And I can hold that, so I guess now I'm entitled to criticize him. Stupid logic.
Shit looks terrible. Dude needs a hip replacement or something lol
so true!
yeah run form looked great mile 20 at kona this year, but because i havent run to a 2nd at kona i guess i cant say any bad about it lol
Fuck no but regardless, his right leg looks like it’s injured or something when he runs.
Whats your bike setup?
Sob 106 HR...I wonder what your cardiac output is!
Swimbikeand Run! probably about 200mL per beat
Watch the heel rub on your cranks, that's sucking watts every pedal stroke!
Theodore Kincaid - you have a keen eye. I tried to find the heal rub you mentioned but couldn't see it, but then again my eyesight isn't great. Is it around the 4:18 mark? I tend to heal rub on one side, and know I do because I can feel it, and the evidence shows on my cycling shoe.
Cheers mate! It's all in the cleat set up, rotate it by half a degree or so
Thanks Theodore!
106 for an hr at 270 ffs 🤘
I see why your running form looks so odd. You heel strike with your left foot and midfoot strike with the right foot, but it works well for you. Good luck tomorrow!
the 14 dislikes… that s not a download button
whats your weight?
What is your resting heart rate?
do you have a leg injury? it almost looks like your skipping when your running
ye ye there is a lot of online discussion on lionels gimp leg. Doesn't seem to slow him down but it aint pretty. Would be interested to see on a dual peddle power meter if he has equal L and R power?
Looks like something is wrong with his right hamstring. It doesn't pull the leg all the way back during the recovery phase.
adrian betti You can't really pull from a heel strike.
He drags his feet because he pushes himself forward with his quads/hams instead of bouncing with his calves.
Great to see Lionel's girlfriend on the sideline. Not many can get relationships going with that amount of training.
i bet he will win wc kona 2018
Song title? In 2:25 min
My ftp is 300w... damn
You have to train you run technique men
He doesn´t have to anything
Agree its like watching a stick run
You are really good man , but if you train your running technique in order to lift your knees at every stride , you will certainly perform better
Julian Ivacachi who are you to talk?
Guys he has to be good in cycling and swimming also lol
I wonder what you can run a marathon in...just a marathon
I say around 230-235
2:25
looks like you hobble when you run.
The TimeWarp Cyclist same thing I said. Like his right leg is injured
soak them seeds
Lie you so focused to Kona to beat The big “Ferd”
tu as un jolie tshirt !
Very unsymmetrical and special running technique, but fast as f***
this music daf
You Need different Running shoes or Personal insoles .
did this guy have a job while doing this? lol
Is he vegan?
Tri-Shake-Atops don't come here to say shit. I've already seen your other comment. He eats like that for a reason and if that triggers you, well... Keep triggered. He knows what he's doing and he's smashing it. You are very arrogant.
adrian betti no but vegan diet so theory goes is good for recovery. IM don't need to load up on meat all day long.
He's not vegan, but does eat a lot of plant-based foods, like smoothies and recovery foods. I do however believe that if he went fully plant-based his performance would increase.
Michael Goggs Increasing or not I do not know, and I'm a vegan myself, but just look how people got judgemental just because of his diet! He eats what he wants and what he thinks it's best for him, period. So many doctors and scientists here jesus
Tomas Azevedo I agree 👍 People need to go with their intuition on what food is best for them, every individual is different. I wasn't having a dig of course, you just have to look at those athletes around the world who've gone vegan, then all of a sudden outperformed their previous achievements. Either way, I ain't as fit as Lionel, too many babies and not enough time to train haha
Sorry my friend, as much as I admire you for your " I do what ever it takes" spirit. But seeing you running and then talking about efficiency. Is almost like if a fat guy is talking about " how to loose weight".
Martin Gehrmann It would take a year or more to switch to proper foot landing. He got no time for this. Maybe next season, if he "fails" in Kona.
Well, he is able to run a 2:40 marathon of an ironman. Therefore i think he has the right to say whatever he wants
NYC OK Not really. A week is enough to make it second nature and probably a month for the muscles to adapt. Not smart to do it before a competition though, it's something to be made off-season or in the beginning of the season.
Nuno Coelho A week is not enough. A year might not be enough for an average runner. Ritzenhein took more than a year to stop heel striking, and he ran into major injuries while doing that. Sanders is very heavy compared to Ritz at 120 lbs. Most importantly, Sanders can't change his stride, because he doesn't seem to understand what the problem is. Once he stops being obsessed with his swimming mechanics that he's been working on for half a decade, he might get to improving his running form. Not this season, not this year, and probably not the next one, because after winning at Kona he won't have the motivation to improve.
He's pushing with his quads/hams instead of bouncing with his calves, typical among cyclists. With barefoot running, takes ~1 minute for his body to autocorrect, otherwise he'll brake his bones. To make it second nature, drills before and after running, then ice in inflamed muscles/tendons. In a month he'll have proper technique.

Bro, blend vege not fruit. Too much sugarrrrrr. Fructose galore bro
you are moron!
Every cell in the human body runs on glucose and glucose only. Fruit is the perfect nutritional package of fiber to slow sugars, antioxidants and nutrients for the cell, easy to digest and fills the glycogen stores. It’s is optimal fuel for endurance. Please research Rich Roll or nutritionfacts.org for the science behind what is optimal fuel for the human body. Education is key.
Михајло Јеремић learn English
IronVegan RMT fruit is a major source of fibre by the make up of the pericarp, epicarp, and mesocarp structures. When ingested your body will break these down. When you blend them your drinking pure sugar. Not disputing the glucose within.
IronVegan RMT if you blend vegetable your do actually release more of the vitamins within the dense structure that your body struggles to breakdown. With fruit there is no sugar. Drinking this quantity of fruit is huge in one sitting. Thanks for your reply.
Lots of exaggeration in these videos fyi. not sure if too please his own ego or to "scare" competition but there is a lot of BS
Example? Some of his statements may come across as exaggeration, but if you've followed him long enough you realize he's honest, esp with himself, and tends to back up what he says. Continually setting a higher bar in training and race goals, and making it public, is also an effective way to self-motivate and hold oneself accountable. Yes, some of it may be to put his competition on notice, but if you can do what you say then it's not BS. Most of the top triathletes do this, like Frodo, Kienle and Brownlee to name a few - they believe strongly in themselves and are very self confident. Most great athletes need to be if they want to be at the top of their sport's food-chain, so to speak, but at the end of the day they all walk the talk, otherwise their words would eventually fall flat. They may not always achieve the result they want, for whatever reason, i.e. Frodo at Kona last year, but that sports.
I haven’t seen any BS in this video as someone who’s going to Kona and competing in then 30-34 age group
Your running stride is horrible bud.... embarrassing/10
Terrible running form.
Its like watching stickman run.. horrible
