Great video. Saw these at the red dot museum in Singapore and wondered how well built they are. From yours, and many other videos showing how they've aged, they appear to be worth every cent.
Thanks. I have definitely been very happy with mine. The weak spot after some years is the note sleeve plastic and also the glue for the cardholder but both of these are easily remedied.
Got this wallet but wasn’t happy with how the plastic compartment was glued to the metal part, i superglued the entire underside of the plastic piece and it feels far more durable and solid, most have had wallet for years and no issues with the glue, but for me wasnt satisfied, but issue fixed and hoping to get some good years with it👍
absolutely great review - thanks. Very clear video and sound. I like your attitude! This has made me put Secrid up on the top of the list above competitors. Thanks for the time and trouble in doing this 🙂
Just bought my first secrid wallet. To complement it, I have bought a Victornox Swiss Credit card. Always been a fan of small wallets. I would have to say this seems like the best wallet I have ever owned. Normally buy leather Paul Smith mini wallets..
Next wallet, buy the Freitag X Secrid slim wallet version. Made of truck tarp and has a super solid tarp bill sleeve insead of the plastic one that broke on your wallet. Had one for 5 years and it doesn't really show any sign of use.
Thanks, i hadn't seen those. I have an old Freitag card holder which I like (and generally like the freitag concept). I have some heavy duty tarp fabric so might fabricate my own to replace the plastic bit
Hi there, great vid of your review! Looking at your review I am happy to offer you a repair on your wallet, since we at Secrid value sustainability and want you to enjoy your wallet for many years to come.
This is making me super excited for mine! I've wanted a good quality wallet like this for a long while! I hope mine holds up like yours. I'll definitely be putting some leather balm on it though long before it reaches that state!
Thanks IL. Yes mine arguably could have benefited from a bit more care, probably a but used and abused, but all the more impressive that still in use 10 yrs later! Hope it works as well for you as it has for me.
Does any of your card got their plastic peeled off on the bottom? Cause mine does, not sure if use the switch harshly of it is just the quality of my card.
Not had noticeable issues here but given the nature of the mechanism to push the cards in a fanned fashion I would think possible especially with non standard card thicknesses. Not something have found a concern though within life of my bank cards.
In the inside of the aluminium case on the left and the right are 2 red fabric. Take a key and scratch only downside a few times on both side. Shake the wallet If they stil lose scratch again and when they stay om place it is oké. Regards from the Netherlands
Hi Jean, not something I'd ever experienced as always have used at least 4 cards in there so gave a it a try. With just 1 or 2 cards positioned against the back, and having popped them up, you can get them to skip past the teeth that fan the cards on repeated presses with it already popped out. That skipping suppose could sound like a crunch. Doesn't seem a particular problem though more a outcome of a mechanism that is really made for 3-6 cards. So if testing a pressie with 1 or 2 cards would say unlikely an issue.
@@bigskies2202 Thank you for the quick response ! With my brand new one, I more than often get this weird sound and sensation rather than the "smooth" sound and sensation because as you said it : a card skip pass a teeth. And that even if I have +4 cards in it and can happen several times in a row (it happen more frequently if the cards are positionned in the back rather than in the front). So you confirm that it happens with yours too ?
With mine seems to work reliably with 4+ cards. One idea might be card type. I only ever use a couple of embossed bank style cards and 2 or more flat ones but always standard plastic card thickness. you could also try the cards in a different order??
I found this wallet absolutely destroyed my cards, the corners would get damaged and the plastic layers separate. After four years the cards would fall out unless every slot was populated. I ended up replacing with a Ridge wallet which I have not had any problems with so far.
@@bigskies2202 Thank you 🙏 I’ve heard people complain about other wallets that slide out your cards in similar ways destroying their cards. I’m getting this one :)
@@KianiAlexandra well I have 3 years using Secrid mini wallet and holding 6 card there , what is in front of and back and made by cheap plastic - travel card and some shopping card I have to admit yes overall damage the card , so I recommend your bank card hold in the middle and no issue or when you use less ( 2-3) and put in middle won't make damage . anyway, my wallet holding well over 3 years every 6 months I use some leather cream, however nowadays I use less and less my wallet and pay by phone for things, what is important take care of the material if you picked up the real leather one, By the way real my best items so far and price not so crazy compering to have high quality so 9/10
Hi Dani, the Secrid isn't really designed for coins. You could fit a couple of emergency ones in the leather card slots I suppose but if I carry coins, which is rarely, i tend to put loose in my pocket.
I use a Secrid mini Wallet for one year and absolutly love it. I already gave 4 Wallets as an gift to Friends and Family. Everybody loves it

I have this wallet. Absolutely love it !! Have it now for 4 years and going strong. If it does fail I will definitely get it again
Yes it's a great bit of kit. I have a few other wallets, some unused, all have remained sat in a drawer since I got this one 10 yrs ago!

Thanks Fergus. It has definitely given me enough faithful service to earn my brand loyalty!
@@bigskies2202 interesting channel, we're cut from the same cloth. Letherman, outdoors interests.
I'm sold too, many thanks! Being an original always counts for a lot and the price seems justified for a long-wearing quality item.
Thanks Andrew. My thoughts exactly!!

Good luck with it. It is still the one I choose to carry everyday versus my other ones.
Amazing !!!! Best wallet ever I've had mine for a year and love it
Absolutely, there is no going back to a normal wallet for me!
highly recommend this Bad Boy !!!!! After 10 years Still Working 👍🏽
Mine is more than 10 years old too and in perfect shape! Amazing as u says. 🤩
I have same in green color since July 2019. Still like new. Slightly greasy. I clean it using leather soap and leather cream. Very good quality !

Great review, thanks! When did the glued part start to slack? Did it start because of the years or because you "poorly" handled it?
Hi Mario, I don't think particularly mishandled. Just progressively happened over time with use.

Thanks pmr, good tip.
The leather on the Mitchell MCW gets better in time do to oils in your skin. They don't look beat up and cracking like this bulky one.
For God's sake put some leather balm on that old boy! You'll get another half decade out of it maybe. Looks great though and good review.
Ha ha yes it probably does need to be shown some more love for the service provided!
Great vid mate, you’d sold me on grabbing my first secrid!
Thanks Icy. Hope you get as many years good service out of it as I have for mine.
When you put only one or two cards at the back side of the alluminum box do you hear a crunhy noise or doe the mecanism jamms ?

Mine is 7 years and still going - longest I've ever kept a wallet.
do you carry this wallet in the front pocket or back pocket?
Front always.
do you happen to know the color of this wallet?@@bigskies2202
Sorry for the slow response. i can't recall exactly but closest on secrid site seems to be vintage brown.
I found this wallet absolutely destroyed my cards, the corners would get damaged and the plastic layers separate. After four years the cards would fall out unless every slot was populated. I ended up replacing with a Ridge wallet which I have not had any problems with so far.
That's odd and certainly not my experience but we can only relate things as we find them!
It has aged well my friend
Does it chew your cards?
Hi Kiani, no I've never had a chewed card from it.

C'mon mate. Time to buy a new one
It's more than done it's job.
😂 fair comment. There's a bit of life in it yet though!
To big not a Minimalist wallet. The Mitchell Leather Co MCW is the one you want. Made in quality leathers including some exotics.
Great concept. You’ve sold it. Let it go. That’s so old. Buy a new one.
Mine is 16 years old and still good. It’s made to last so why buy a new one?
My secrid vallet is also 10 years old. And it looks almost brand New. I think i can use it for 30 years before it looks as worn out as yours 😂
Ha. Yes it has certainly had an active life!
Ordered one last night
I hope it gives you as many years good service as mine has SDN!
What about coins?
Hi Dani, the Secrid isn't really designed for coins. You could fit a couple of emergency ones in the leather card slots I suppose but if I carry coins, which is rarely, i tend to put loose in my pocket.
That thing is looking like the Old Testament
😂😂😂
It can last a lot longer if you look after the damn thing 🤦. Far out man
ha ha. yes, quite. Have given it a little bit of leather cream to celebrate it's ten years of service.
