Hi Everyone, thinking of doing a new video series where I analysis a Tour Pro’s swing and pick out 1 detail that I think everyone could benefit from. I would then go into detail on how you can incorporate it into your swing. Let me know your thoughts and if you’d like to see this?
Thank you a million times for this great instructional video. I have literally spent thousands of dollars throughout the years on private lessons, golf tec, videos, training aids etc. I couldn’t get rid of the chicken wing and I couldn’t get a divot. I just couldn’t find a mental key until you came along! Today I hit some golf balls and guess what!!! NO MORE chicken wing and I was TAKING divots!!! Thank you so much, you are amazing! You made it all so simple-common sense.
Mate, I have always chicken winged and tried to resolve it. I’ve had many golf lessons and no one has ever pointed out to me that I don’t rotate my arm prior to this video. Thank you so much. Subscribed
Brilliant drill, will take it to the range today, I have tried various others to improve my release rotation, this looks like it could really work for me
awesome video, I have been struggling badly with casting the club in the downswing, but the problem I have is it is easy to do the practice swings without a ball but as soon as I try a full swing with the ball I go right back to casting the club
Very nice , i have this problem it costs me consistency and distance i m very bad at relase, my coach shared your videos and the scratch golf academy videos
Hi Giles any chance you could do a couple older pros, to see what’s more realistic for 50 and over and just most amateurs in general, thanks. Great coaching btw
This was helpful to me. I’ve been getting the handle forward at impact but with the face open. I need more rotation of the arm like this. How do you time this so that it’s perfectly square at impact?
Hey Giles. Thanks for the video. Would love to hear you talk about how this is mainly caused by our backswing and lack of hand and hip depth. We chicken wing in an effort to square the face because we come in too steep due to lack of depth. Our brains make us do that without us even realizing it. All of the things you talk about in the downswing pretty much happen automatically if the backswing is correct with the hands at the proper depth (among some other things in the backswing). What do you think?
Already spoken about this in other videos. But also as I stated in the video this was designed to train how to move the forearms ASSUMING everything else was in place
Some people really can't tell they're chicken winging because the swing is full speed through impact & happens too quickly. We've all seen the object under the front arm as a drill but worked better for me is using the object between your elbow & ribs. Even if you chicken wing the object can stay between the upper arm & chest whereas if the elbow separates away from the rib cage or hip, it'll definitely fall out. That's what worked for me.

Great idea, I would love to see Fleetwood, I am curious to see if his hands have a pronounced left exit. Great job with lessons
@@emilesudlow7521 will add it to the list! Thank you!
Good idea especially if it features an effortless swing as opposed to a power only swing

Wow thanks for the detailed explanation and workable drills to fix it!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video with tips I have never heard! Thank you for showing both angles. It's quite helpful to see the club face and body position.
Glad it was helpful & that it was new for you

Thanks mate!

Chances are you’re not fixing the root cause as to why you cast. Casting is a reactionary movement
@@Gilesgillgolf Thanks for the advice as always! I will be giving these drills a go😊

I love this lesson , thank you !

Charp & Clear, thanks😊
Thank you!
Best chicken wing drills I have ever seen to help fix the problem. Hopefully with practice I will overcome what is a swing killer.
Takes time but these will get the job done

By understanding setup, arm anatomy & grip. Go watch some of my recent videos for this
Great video!! This is just what I need to fix my chicken wing. Do you have a tutorial for a full swing with a straight are finish??
Yes I have 3
You wouldn’t have a link for the 3 videos annoyingly I can’t seem to find them.
@@garyatkins4408 they’re my longest videos
Does the left arm start to rotate externally as soon as the downswing starts or at impact? Thanks
Good question
Happens from the start of the downswing
nice and clear.
Thank you

is this considered “timing the release” for a square club face through impact?
Timing the release is something different. Every release has to be timed it’s just some rely on timing more than others

Be careful you don’t put it too low or the club will drag inside
