    Possibly the most meaningful first pitch in history. That pitch represented the mindset Americans would have moving forward, and the fact he nailed it was important to people, whether or not you think it should have. Unbelievably clutch pitch.

      jhaz89 you realize this asshole bush was a big fat stupid liar in the face of the American people right? How can you love a president who lied to you straight in the face about multiple issues, and didn't even give a fuck when he was an accomplice if not the head of the undercover job that led to the deaths of over 3,000 American civilians just so we could go into Afghanistan, and lose even more American lives? You make me sick.

      Also bare in mind this was really soon after 9/11, so it's not only a really inspiring amount of patriotism, but it's also directly after and in opposition of the biggest terrorist attack in history, in the same city it took place in. Imagine seeing him walk out there, unafraid, especially if you'd lost people in the attacks.

    "I didn't vote for him but at that point, my personal feelings about him as a politician were gone. I watched him and he was my representative... I had never felt that way before." David Fisher articulates that tremendous feeling of patriotism and unity as a country we were experiencing in the days and weeks following 9/11 so perfectly, beautifully. Didn't matter which side of the aisle you were on, we all stood as one together, as Americans together. 15 years on and this still chokes me up.

      +Jcurvs99 lets not get carried away here. it was a great and stirring moment but as human nature dictates, it was bound to be short lived. just like when someone we know dies young/suddenly and we vow to appreciate the simple things in life we ordinarily take for granted and then inevitably go back to our daily routines. It's neither good or bad, just the way we're programmed. Compared to most places in the world, we have a pretty good life here in the US, regardless of your economic or social status. we need not concern ourselves with the daily worry of putting food in our bellies or finding clean drinking water. our prosperity allows us to squabble over things like healthcare costs, sports and pop culture and in a certain way, that's actually a privilege most people from many other countries would die for. imagine being a poor villager in Afghanistan and every day you have to worry whether some Taliban animal is going to kill ur children, rape ur wife or appropriate ur home and possessions? complain to that guy about the failings of Obamacare and see how much sympathy you get.

I wouldn't call that classy and I would certainly not call him Godly. I would call that and his ilk reprobate responsible for multiple deaths and bloodshed both domestic and foreign. It's almost like Americans worship the flag and not the Almighty at times. Politics are not God, and never should be and this leader is far from Godly.

    Isn't it amazing that just a few years ago this country seemed so united and patriotic. We stood up and saluted the flag and prayed together as a beautiful and grand nation. Now we are fighting each other over the dumbest idiologies, flushing morals down the toilet and demanding history erased. Some day, this country will stand tall yet again, stand strong and stand as the United States of America.

    • @celebrim1
      @celebrim1 8 років тому

      +John Greeneyes The very day that 9/11 happened, there were Americans complaining that New Yorkers shouldn't have died, it was people living in the Red States that should have died. By 9/12 an anti-war movement had crystalized against responding to the attacks. By April of the following year, nearly half of all New York City residents and over half of self described liberals had convinced themselves that the attacks were carried out by Americans.
      I know about the myth that we are so united and patriotic, but its just a myth. It was as you say something that may have seemed to be, but never was real. If it was ever real, show me the evidence of those feelings actually acted on.
      What really happened is that those inclined to prayer or saluting flags did so, and those who hated those people remained firm in that hatred. For a moment, a few people might have assumed the hate was going to stop, but that was hope and not based on evidence.

    • @TheJMSESQ

      all the issues we have today was created by bush. He lost thousands of jobs and crashed the economy. Obama wasn't great but he was cleaning up his mess. Obama created back all the jobs bush lost and even more jobs. And even though all people say now a days is that the economy is shit, but its the best it has been since the great depression

      @jonahmosher3024 7 років тому +1

      Noah Cho Actually, that is incorrect. In Clintons last year of Presidency, the economy began to struggle. And the economy was destroyed by banks lending mortgages to people they knew could not pay. And if you took the time to study, you will see what political party was forcing these loans and what party was against it. Bush said on multiple occasions that this housing boom was going to be the downfall of our economy.

    I'm Canadian and this moment is the type of thing I admire most about the USA and that is the ability to come through adversity during the most difficult times and be unified as one, and it goes right back to your national anthem written during the war of 1812 when the British had you on the ropes: and the rockets red glare the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there, and o does that star spangled banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
