Watched a 26 year old die...
she fell off a pushbike and broken bone nicked an artery.
Parents wanted her to have blood, but church elders came in a stymied her parents wishes
      (they too were JW !)....
      dreadful situation...
Elders came to hospital to have crisis talks....
So, i asked elder, if Eve came from rib of Adam...and blood cells are produced from the bone marrow, why was church so against transfusion.....?
ELDER WAS CAUGHT OUT AND COULDNT RESPOND!
Thou shalt not take the blood of another refers to MURDER....
      not a blood transfusion...
Elders walked out after my very succinct question! because i challenged their belief on the book of jehovah and who told them to interpret ancient words against current medical life saving assistance...

Oh my gosh Irene, that sounds incredibly traumatic, I have so many questions, this woman was unable to get a blood transfusion because of church elders? Was she unconscious and unable to make healthcare decisions, wouldn’t the hospital listen to her parents over church elders?

      She was awake and talking.
Her parents tried to convince her she needed whole blood transfusion (which she desperately did, she was low in oxygen, and her main artery leakjng so not thinking "clearly")
Her parents were Witnesses but not deeply invested in the church.
She requested church elders come in to represent her...!..
The Church, as her "guardians" made the decision...
      NO BLOOD PRODUCTS AT ALL....
Hospital couldnt get emergency injunction status because she died while it was being put before the courts....
      It was so SAD.....
      ICU team were devastated...
And because not long previously a 6 year old JW was made a ward of the hospital...again, blood required...it enforced an emergency meeting...
We had ICU team, Ethics Committee, couple of Ministers from other churches, Anglican and Catholic i think... and about 4 senior reps from the JW Church...
They could NOT RESPOND TO THE ADAM AND EVE analogy.....
where i showed GOD SAID BLOOD PRODUCTS ARE OK...
BECAUSE SOME OF YOUR BLOOD CELLS ARE MADE IN YOUR MARROW....
      that silenced them....
Nowadays, because of the horrific Middle Eastern Wars, the Military developed life saving fluids...that can be used instead of blood products...and in conjunction with blood products...thats how many injured Veterans are saved at the scene.....their medics are really well trained in trauma management......
Hope that helps answer your question....💞✌️🙏

Recovered Evangelical Christian here. It's absolutely true what she is saying about your peer group and even family in many cases. When I was a young woman in the 80's I belonged to a developing mega church. A person's 20's is when they typically make their friends groups which in most cases lasts for life. When I decided to leave the churches that I had invested my life in, my "friends" turned their backs on me; the unequally yoked thing and "how can two walk together if they don't agree" adage. Consequently the friends group I cultivated as a young woman dissipated. Luckily I have one friend from middle school, one from high school and one from college. It's a small group but at this stage I'm fine with it as I have close family relationships.
As a younger person, the fallout was hard to take but I knew I had to get away from spiritual manipulation and become an emotional adult. I have zero regrets because the guys I dated and those friends are now religious right extremists. I see it as dodging a major bullet.

My husband also died by suicide as a JW. JWs have a high rate of suicide and it's important that people know this, so thank you for sharing.
I wish people who are feeling suicidal would just go and do something exciting, like paragliding or paddle boarding. The problem is that they are clinically depressed ie nothing but nothing makes them feel alive. All their likes are dulled, they cannot be persuaded to go for a walk or watch a movie or eat favourite food, there is no motivation. They need to be taken by the hand and given something to do that requires complete brain power, like balance or sequence or both, to hopefully feel that spark again before takling the real problems. Something that is scary and dangerous enough to grab their attention. Then again I'm saying this as a non depressed person and the reality when your depressed is very different.
In my husband's case it was bipolar or what used to be called manic depression. The JWs will deter you from seeking medical attention and downplay the seriousness of suicidal feelings, all in the name of Jehovah just like they do CSA.

I almost became a JW once cos I worked with a lady who I liked very much and who had just converted . So I had the weekly visits from two lovely ladies who taught me a lot about the Bible (although at the time I didn't know they change some scriptures). But one day I went with another friend (who was also considering converting) to the big Kingdom Hall near where we lived . My friend and I almost immediately whispered to each other that all the women in the congregation were behaving like Stepford wives! Neither of us could see ourselves fitting into that kind of expectation, so I ceased the visits/Bible study as did my friend . It was very different and cultish when we saw the whole congregation together and all seemed to be very controlling as far as we could tell as visiting outsiders. I must stress that the individuals I spoke to within the organisation seemed very nice, but there was just something that didn't sit well with me as an organisation

I'd escaped an extremely strict Roman Catholic ideology, only to replace it with an extremely orthodox Marxist ideology. And although there were many Marxist groups àll around, only WE were the TRUE Marxists. It was very cultish in that, only total commitment to the cause - 7 days a week! - was acceptable. Only having friends in the RCP was considered acceptible. After eventually plucking up the courage I got out in the dead of night 🤦

We seem to have had similar ideology, which is why I find cults so fascinating. I was very much afraid of being possessed by demons. Believed I was haunted by them, circling me, waiting to possess and control me. I never told my parents or anyone for a long time when this was happening, for a number of reasons. Fear of being crazy, and simultaneously fear of it being true. I have mostly grown out of this, thru therapy and more insight into my childhood, but it still lingers sometimes.

Like all religions it’s not the individuals themselves it’s those that use their trust for their own gain … so I have been dealing with not just an existential crisis but also trying to navigate or reconcile the isolation imposed on me due to my ‘wayward’ behavior and that of trauma recovery

The whole thing was just so strange to me. I really felt for her and her family bc it just seemed wrong. I felt like, if they had really done something so wrong, where was the helping correct the mistake like parents would maybe or their understanding that we all make mistakes and should lift each other up. Quite sad.

My experiences are similar on the social interactions with "wordly" people, missing out the various celebrations. In Finland one stands out at school environment for couple of other reasons that might not be known to most. First, in Finnish school curriculum, religious teaching is part of it, of which JW children are released from and which causes questions amongst the peers, like "Where were you?" and "Why you didn't join the class?". Another thing that makes one stand out is the meal time at school, as meal is free and provided by school. Whenever there was any food that contained blood, the JW children get an alternative meal. It's just some more pressure to the other things they are missing out. And not mentioning the knocking on doors, who knows when you knock on the door of your classmate or school mate.

She was hampered so much she was unable to enjoy the small joys we learn to look for and really appreciate as we age or face an earlier death from illness or disability. This area is one which as Human Beings, we could use our courage and curiosity to explore our inevitable demise honestly and openly with each other. This might temper the individual's aloneness that accompanies awareness.

So much of this conversation reminded me of my own childhood, being brought up in an Evangelical church (Church of the Nazarene). There was so much that we couldn't take part in - going to movies, dancing, playing any sort of card game...and on and on. We wouldn't be ostracized, if we were 'outed' doing any of them, but shamed mercilessly. (An aside: I was fondled in my teens by our Sunday School Superintendent.)
I had my first anxiety attack in grade school - I came home to find no one there. I KNEW that everyone had been 'raptured', and that I'd been left behind, because I had a crush on one of the boys in my class. In my late teens, I began to realize that there were so many different philosophies, and they all claimed to be 'right/true'. I decided that they were all wrong, and all the mythology was basically just invented out of fear of death, and ways to avoid thinking about it.
In my mid-70s now, I have no fear of dying. I expect oblivion. What could be nicer than that?

I was a cradle Catholic. Catholic gràde school, etc. I remember an incident explicitly. I had a dog that I loved with all my heart. In a religion class I asked "Sister" if dogs go to heaven too? She responded "No". I said, "then I don't want to go there". Her response was that after I died and "saw the face of God" that I wouldn't care about my dog. That was the beginning of the end of Catholicism for me. Although still totally brainwashed as a "lapsed Catholic" (One is never an ex Catholic). I consider myself a born again Baptist Christian. Name me 1 religion where they do not think they are the one true religion/group on this Earth today? I think one of the things that really woke me up and helped me realize I was not in the one true religion was the fact that I had multiple patients in my life (work in healthcare) and all believed they were part of the one true religion. Catholic, Evangelist, Pentecostal, Baptist, Christian, Mormon, Jewish, Jehovah’s Witness. And I realized that they all believed they were one true religion and they had been faithful and when they passed they were going to heaven.
I’ve realized that all religions believe pretty much the same thing.

They just changed the belief to suit themselves. They also changed the bible, old as well as new testament. The Revelation, as written by them, is bosh, totally. They also dont have ordained ministers. Just "brothers" who interpret. When the JW's knocked on my door, I just pointed at a sticker in my window saying " This is a Catholic home", and they literally ran away.

I expect some shi# from this comment but hey ho I am who I am and I like the little lady she's very sweet. I guess that's what they do to suck you in. So not only did we not form any strong attachments to our family but also was isolated from everyone else except Witnesses and then further compounded by the isolation domestic abuse garners

I happily watch this channel and never comment on people's views being different to mine. This is not such a comment, rather, it is concerning a complete inaccuracy. The biblical Christian view (as opposed to the cultural Christian view), is that we will have a body.
I used to think the same "how boring" (before I'd experienced God the person), but I came to know, the more I was aware of what scripture actually stated, that we were created to be humans and we will have a body and live on earth. We won't be just spirit, because we were never created to be that. We find living in heaven as spirit alien because that's not out purpose.
The difference is that we will have a body without frailty. We were not created for death and pain. When I think of "me" and who I am, I don't think of my body which has been dying since birth, I think of the internal intangible "me" which will always exist. It existed, differently, in my baby body, my teenage body, my adult body, and eventually my elderly body; and it will still exist when I leave the body.
Also, God will be able to dwell with us on earth because the separation was due to perfection not being able to constantly dwell with imperfection. With the barrier of imperfection (sin) done away with, He will be able to be amongst us in an intimate way.
We will not be living in heaven. For any "Christian" to think and teach otherwise (as I assume was taught, or not explained, in her Baptist church, is to teach error.

In Australia, the JWs started back in the 90s, taking their small children around with them. I imagine it's because people are much less likely to tell them where to go. On paper I'm a Catholic. I've been a spiritualist all my life though. My wee Scottish grandma passed the old ways down to me in age appropriate ways from the age of about 4. Officially the Scottish side a Presbyterian, but my grandma taught me that we were actually Celtic Druid. I was the only family member my grandma passed the old ways to. My ancestors were raped and murdered by the Roman Church when they invaded Britain and into Scotland. The rubbish written about Druids eg being burnt to death in the so called Wickermen, it's all rubbish. If people would just stop and think, they'd realise the bullshit that was told. I wish you could do a show on the reality of druids Andrew. I don't mean those druid groups online these days that charge amazingly ridiculous amounts of money to do 'druid workshops' to become a druid. They profess that there are no 'real' druids left except for them reviving it.
I don't think there is any 'religion' in modern times, that aren't in it for what they can get out of it, usually money. Years ago, I stopped donating etc to the Salvos, when I discovered the $$millions they were making floating on the stock market. Then Lifeline were selling their donations for retail price and some above retail price. These 'christian' based shops were always meant to help people doing it hard financially. I find it disgusting. I donate to the smaller places like Endeavour Foundation now.
Just as a side note, the Salvos, who put themselves out there like the saviours of Australia when we were on fire for 9 months without a break, would only give small amounts of help. They wouldn't go out to the people Andrew, the people had to go to them where the lights and cameras were. These were people who had the clothes on their backs, no vehicles, no food and no money. Please, if you feel you can, do a story on these wealthy church organisations who leach off the people but have 'good' names. You'll find a lot of dirt under their carpets. Organisations don't have to be cults to be leaches.

@johnryan1798 I made it 💯 % perfectly clear, I'm not a christian, never have been, never will be; simply because they don't make sense. I am a spiritualist and strangely enough the beliefs and teachings of 1000s of years of spiritualist teachings, are now being slowly proven by science, while the christian teachings are regularly being dismissed.
It is important to note that all so called christian holidays, were 'stolen' by the church from our Sabbats, when attempting to convert people to christianity. That's a fact.
With all due respect, if you took the time to research, you would know that Jesus was a Druid and had a rather large family, all conceived through good old fashioned sex. He travelled with Joseph to Britain as they traded tin. Jesus's was granted land there and helped build the Druid lodgings in which he called home. While married to Mary Magdalene he travelled to Egypt and studied under the best Egyptian astrologers of the time.
Jesus's had 3 sons, all of which were soldiers, as was Jesus's at the time of the invasion of the Roman church into the country known as Britain.
It was the Roman church who murdered my ancestors, and of course, a lot of others, and raped the women and girls & murdered the men and boys.
History was rewritten to be favourable against the Roman church, and therefore Roman law.
It's all there, in the annals of history, if one chooses to research.
What you believe in, is of no interest to me. Those with tunnel vision, will only look straight into the tunnel waiting for a speck of light at the other end. Those who are willing to actually do some in-depth research, will find all of the windows of light along the way, and find that beliefs are far more greater than those in 'scripture' people have been brainwashed to belief.

It's a quite strong need to be different/ chosen... I also don't get it that grown ups can't grasp those bs stories and are often willing 2 do nasty and even horrible things to others or even loved ones.
The end is neigh... Repent repent...
I also want to be unique/ special, like I guess 8 billion others do too

You are not a cult survivor. Your parents joined a religion and then decided they didn't want to be in it any more and so they left. No one stopped them from leaving. They didn't want to follow the moral standards, and that's OK. But there was no escape. No one forced them to join and no one prevented them from leaving. They were and are free to make their own decisions.

It was a cult because like she said, when they left they lost all their friends and everyone they knew that was still in the religion.

I certainly feel as though I could have had much worse luck, in a worse cult. But just from reading through the comments on here, I'm reminded of the harm that the 'no blood transfusion rule' does to JWs. I think that alone qualifies the JWs as a cult. Forcing members to deny themselves and their loved ones potentially life saving medical treatment on pain of being kicked out (and therefore dying in Armageddon) looks pretty damn cultish once you're on the outside looking in. Then there's the making family members limit contact with anyone in their family who leaves. This is not what happens if you leave the baptists, or the Methodists, or the Anglicans. This is the kind of thing that happens specifically when you try to leave a cult. They try to punish you, and break down your familial bonds. It causes enormous long term harm.
