She, like so many young people need to STOP. Using the word ‘like’ repeatedly. That is not articulate.
The last thing I would call her is articulate. Unfortunately, she sounds so dumbed down and is so annoying that I could not even listen to the whole vid. Beyond extremely excessive use of like over and over again. To the point of just awful.
I just finished reading her book, "Bad Cadet." It's a heartbreaking account of the way Scientology treats young children.

The Pentecostal Church could often be seen as a cult as well. So her Mom went from one cult to another.
When I was a kid I was strong minded, (also adhd but wasn't diagnosed until I was 48 in 2008), feisty, and there was no way my thoughts or beliefs couldn't be controlled.
My mom worried I was going to be an unmanageable rebel; my dad called me his little Maverick, and told anybody who decided I needed to be reeled in and taught to conform, that there was not too be any type of change attempted on me, and if any tried they'd answer to him. Needless to say, dad kept a watchful eye on me and intervened if anybody wanted to make me "more normal and not such an unconventional enigma". Mom calmed down after I became a teen and she saw I was not going to get in the trouble she thought I might left unchecked.
😢This wonderful lady, as she describes herself as a young kid and teen, reminds me so much of myself. She has her own mind and was developing it on her own. She didn't need anybody molding her to fit the status quo.
Look at her now. A marvel of energy, interesting, intelligent, and incredibly self aware.
She knew what she wanted and didn't let anything or anybody stand in her way.

I come from Sussex and the Scientology headquarters is in the area and they are ‘everywhere’. As a young child I remember Ron Hubbard being seen in the town all the time and one lady served him in a local tea shop where he explained he was trying to get his book published. No one was interested as it was so bad, but he was determined to get it done. What better way to do that and make himself a millionaire at the same time, than to start a religion or in this case a ‘cult’.
Lost my brother to a cult, he does not speak to anyone including my mum who is heartbroken .

If alumni of Scientology are being called after requesting to be taken off the list to call; they can file a law suit against Scientology and win upwards of $40k for violating this “do not call” statement. Interesting Scientology is assigning minors to make those calls that would be perceived as harassment to return to Scientology. They sound so creepy and manipulative towards minors and their subjects.

I believe it is genetics. Just like some people can draw, have a talent, like relatives. Genetic. Nurture can change a little, not much. It is your whole personality. I am almost 80. I learned.

I think it is an innate thing, but brainwashing overcomes it. It's just so sad. The United States government needs to take away their tax exemption. That will be another blow to Scientology and in favor of families and children. Wish all the best to this guest and her family!
I guess you could compare this to a boarding school for people that are not in scientology, they would be cut off from their kids too but it is considered normal
When you isolate people from family, friends, etc.YOu have an easier chance to brain wash them.
One thing that proves people that leave Scientology are not lying is they all tell the same story. Katherine is a smart. articulate women. Getting out as young as she did certainly helped. I loved when she said her husband's friends never held her lack of education against her.

The FBI should go after COS for labor laws. I have heard the various channels of SPTV say that children are sent to camps where they dig ditches and other heavy work. Also child abuse where children are taken away from their parents. This is pure evil. The law needs to go after them for this cruelty.

Katherine, you are intelligent enough, you come across as a master's level graduate. It's never too late to go back. Your inner strength and resilience helped you to be the healthy person you are. So glad you had the courage to break free.
I hope Katherine releases an audio book. I have a learning disability so I prefer to do audio reading. I think she would be great narrating her book.

Isn't it just Astouding how some people think it's Right to Force their belief systems on others - as Healthy Sceptical People always say " Follow the Money" - this Heirarchy Abuse is just SICK .
Katherine, You're an absolutely wonderful parent, because you cared enough about yourself and your future children to get out of that destructive cult, and just by doing that you preserved their future and you've taught your children an incredibly important lesson.
Also sounds like you're a very self-aware person trying to be a better Mom and control when you get angry at the kids. I did the same. Your children will always have the legacy of your strength! I don't have a daughter (I have a son) but if I did I'd like her to be like you.

Katherine is fantastic. Bright and beautiful open smile and open heart. Well done writing your book. It makes me so sad that she was led to believe she was “bad” for not toeing the Scientology line. To sneak off and read a book as a teenager is bad?? Sheesh. Sheesh what i did in the 70’s a teenager would’ve gotten be thrown in the brig. Or overboard.
This young woman is incredible and beautiful. I hope she is proud of herself and continues on such a positive path. Not many caught up in a cult are able to manage their life on a positive level after leaving the cult. While in my opinion her childhood was very sad, she still loves her mom and dad and siblings and doesn’t hold a single bad thought against anyone. Again she is an incredible person. I wish her all the luck and good life she deserves.
This is so heartbreaking. To disown your children and grandchildren!?? It would have to be very very deep. I don't think that I could ever wrap my head around it!
I've seen Kathrine on quite a few other channels, and I must say she is one of the most articulate, intelligent, and beautiful ex-Scientologists on SPTV. I'm not sure if she has a UA-cam channel, but if/when she starts a channel, I'll be one of her 1st subscribers. She's such a great interview subject that I'd be willing to bet she'd be one hell of an interviewer.

Gosh this lady is inspiring and admirable. So open, level headed, positive and pragmatic. She's a special tough cookie.
It is important for adolescents to “question” when they have thoughts and opinions because it is part of their normal processing and gaining a sense of autonomy so it is mind boggling that they would rob the children the ability of self expression in their need to understand their world.

I can't help but see the exact same mannerisms and disposition in Katherine as I saw In Jenna Miscavage many years ago in an interview. In recounting their stories, they have the same Intense horror in their eyes, speech pattern and a somewhat clenched and restricted mouth as if they KNOW telling their stories is a place one shouldn't explore. Totally understandable coming from Cadets recounting their entire lives under the influence of Scientology. Harrowing.
