So happy to see the increase in videos 😊.
I’m currently reading Everyone in this Room Will Someday Be Dead and really enjoying it so far so I’m happy to see you enjoyed it. I also really enjoyed Razorblade tears!
A Guest in the House sounds really intriguing!
Remote Sympathy was really good. One of those books that you’ll never forget.
I went to see Zadie Smith back in October to talk about The Fraud so that I would know a bit more about it going in. Was hoping to read it before the new year but now I've been side-tracked by reading the Hunger Games trilogy. I am hoping with the Zadie that even if the conversations get boring that at least the short chapters will make them bearable.
And if you are looking for a good collection of short stories, The Wheel of Love by Joyce Carol Oates is great, as is Muriel Spark's collected stories.
Thank you😊
Prep is one of my favorite books of all time! It does have mixed reviews, but if you like boarding school books this is a good one.
Hi, your channel popped up on my feed. "Pet" sounds like a book I will enjoy, thanks for this rec. I love Zadie Smith and I just started reading "The Fraud."
I DNFed Ducks... I agree I just can't do comics without a true narrative from beginning to end. I also felt Beaton needed to be saying or thinking more on the page - it was just kind of things happening to her and around her. And I did not get to the end where she discusses that criticism you speak of so I had no clue she gave more context.
I read a Guest in the House last week... I was also confused by the end and had to reread like four times lol.
I had Forgotten Girls on my tbr now I'm not so sure.
I actually quite love celebrity memoirs (good ones). I liked Britney Spears's. I'm currently reading Minka Kelly's and it's quite good. Ultimately, I think it's interesting if the famous person had a childhood I can learn a lot about and they can let themselves be very vulnerable. Britney's memoir was too sparse and not as in depth. I learned a lot, but it's not as deep as Jennette McCurdy's.
Yes, it was vey much just stuff happening with not much context or reflection.
Haha, glad it wasn't just me with the ending. I even explained the whole story to my partner and showed him the last page like "what do you think is happening here?" 😂
I agree. I've heard Britney might have another memoir coming out which doesn't really make sense as she bought us right up to the present day. Maybe it's just a rumour though.
I really like Curtis Sittenfeld’s books, I’ve read most but not all, not read Prep yet. I preferred the beginning half of Romantic Comedy! I loved The Outcast when I read it when it first came out. Great to hear your thoughts on all these.
Oh Pet sounds interesting! My library has a digital copy available !
I've heard from another booktuber that Prep is a decent read. "ClaireReadsBooks"is the channel. The review is in her newest video
Great video as always 💛💛💛
Unfortunately two separate people got me The Fraud for my birthday because I'm a fan of Zadie Smith and frankly I think it sucked. I truly just had no interest in the characters, zoned out and missed stuff and only made it to about page 30
I DNF'd The Fraud about halfway through, I found it really confusing. I listened to Britney's memoir as well, I thought it was a good listen.
