I did a test of goblin wolf riders charging empire crossbowmen and was pleasantly surprised to see the crossbowmen swiftly losing half their life and breaking on the charge.
Biggest problem that despite being literally wolves aka dogs game don't treat them like dog units mechanically, but as light cav and it makes them the literally worst unit. Because dogs are insanely good unit type, but for some reason CA decided to screw poor gobbos.
Yep. Dogs not only have better attack animations (making them the ideal units for running down enemies), but they're also not considered large units so they bypass charge defense vs large and anti-large bonuses. The laughably tiny bit of extra mass wolf riders get isn't anywhere near enough to make up for this.
theres another gorbad buff that gives them devastating flanker I did some quick math and it looks like they can peak out at about 100 charge bonus depending on how all the bonuses get calculated
I wonder if CA will have the good idea to give us the ability to track charge bonus and dynamic stats modifiers (flanked / rear attacked). After all they gave us the stamina tracker and people have been super positive about that, overall.
That's why we should have gotten Gitilla instead of the spider guy whose name I keep forgetting. Spiders didn't need any help, buffing the shit out of wolf units is where it's at.
Wolf Riders are one of my favorite units. Not super strong without a doubt but very versatile and useful, even in late game. One thing that often factors into people's problems with them is that they are not great against dwarfs and a lot of greenskin lords start out fighting dwarfs.
how are they useful in the late game? You have other stuff that's fast that's can actually do good damage. And they actually lose to a lot of elite archers 1vs1.
@@sympunny8636 speed, even late game artillery crews are squishy, but it's also nice to have a unit that the AI needs no react to as you run it back and forth in their back lines. Messes up their formations
@sympunny8636 no but you should not bring the same units vs all enemies. You adapt and change your armies depending on who you are fighting. I would not bring wolf riders against WoC but I would against Empire, Brettonia or Cathay
@@Cryoteer but the thing is, you have units that are better against all of those. Better against empire/bret/cathay AND still ok vs the rest, that perform the same role except better. So....why bother with a wet noodle unit when you can have the same but better?
I'd love a video on making the coolest units OP. For example White Lions (the elves, not the lions), Wild Riders, Greatswords, Har Ganeth Executioners, Free Company Militia, Stag Knights, etc. I know a lot of them are already pretty good already, so it shouldn't be hard.
Just dogs somehow have more health than an equal amount of dogs with goblins riding them. Seems reasonable.
the goblin must stab his own wolf for fun or something
"Putting a Goblin on a wolf makes the wolf worse or something..." Meanwhile, putting a goblin on the back of another Goblin? 60 charge bonus
Meanwhile...Pigback riders = goblin riding a goblin get like 60 charge bonus?!?
Solutions seems obvious. HAve the wolves ride the goblins for maxium efficiency

The wolf rider is definitely weakest unit in the game, yes-yes! Very much agree-agree! No match for other cheap, lightly armoured hordes.
"worst unit" brother the sky lantern exists...

I love snow leopards, Kislev plays totally different with them.
And here I thought mounted yeomen were bad.
