      I'm not a fisherman. But I see people around here fishing in the ditches after we've had heavy rain and the ditches are full. You don't see that when it's been dry and the water is low.

      Wow thanks man! I love trying to catch big fish but fishing is a lot more than just going after the big ones. It's the adventure and excitement of finding a new spot hidden off the beaten path and discovering what might be lurking beneath the surface that draws me back to fishing more than anything else. Thanks for watching and commenting man!

    That's amazing! Thank you for a diligent exposé on what can be found in innocuous looking, tiny bodies of water. Once I found a spring-fed pool right next to a well traveled road which held sunfish up to four inches long; didn't try to catch 'em but watched them darting around as they saw me. The puddle was about 3'X3'. Later in life, my son-in-law showed me his buddy's spring-fed, front yard farm pond in which he as a select group of friends placed transplanted trout caught locally.They had to shoo away the herons which would come to 'see' the project up close.

    • @618Fishing
      @618Fishing  9 років тому +1

      +TralfazConstruction Thank you for watching and posting this wonderful comment! Something about water makes my imagination run wild. It could be a deep vast ocean, small farm pond, or even a tiny pool of water hidden in the woods. I begin imagining what, if anything could be living beneath the surface just out of sight. I think that is a big part of what makes fishing so exciting for me.

    • @TralfazConstruction
      @TralfazConstruction 9 років тому +1

      +618 Fishing Yes, many of the same aspects of water fascinate me. For the most part, for me, it's got to be moving water. The ocean, rivers (ones that can readily be fished without a raft or boat) and especially cold-running creeks where there's a good chance I'll see or catch Eastern Native Brook Trout. These are trout which live such difficult lives and typically survive for seven or eight years reaching lengths of 15" if they're lucky. My oddest catch was after Hurricane Agnes in August of '72 in upstate Pennsylvania. I was fishing at Ole Bull State Park in Potter County, Pennsylvania, in Kettle Creek where a picnic table had been swept into the creek and wedged at a 45° angle in the water; I caught a 22" brown trout which came out from the sheltered area behind the table and smacked my C.P. Swing, hard, as I worked the lure past it. Later, as I fished downstream, a bulldozer shut-off the stream from the new route the water had taken in the park. I returned to the same spot where I'd caught the brown trout and a crew was busy taking the picnic table away. There were little pools which held some sculpting and cubs but the Fish Commission had already taken the stranded trout out to the main branch of Kettle Creek. This episode made a big impression on me in the summer before I started the 11th grade. I still dream of it occasionally. Best wishes and thanks for reading my long post!

      +Jer Jer not %100 true. Depending on the type they prefer live fish. BUT you are correct about not using those tiny bluegill, it is illegal to transport fish from one body of water to another. This is put in place to prevent spreading of diseases and other issues

    It was raining hard and a big puddle had formed in front of an Irish pub.
    An old man stood beside the puddle holding a stick with a string on the end and jiggled it up and down in the water. A curious gentleman asked what he was doing.
    'Fishing,' replied the old man.
    'Poor old fool' thought the gentleman, so he invited the old man to have a drink in the pub.
    Feeling he should start some conversation while they were sipping their whisky, the gentleman asked, ‘And how many have you caught?'
    'You're the eighth.'

    GREAT video! I was surprised to learn that you were using pieces of hot dog instead of maybe small worms. I've never tried that. I was also surprised that the size of the bobber didn't make any difference, in terms of spooking the fish. Me, I'd have used a way smaller one. Live and learn, I guess. I'm with Ethan - Make more videos of fishing that creek and other small creeks!

    • @618Fishing

      I was surprised at first too but little pieces of hotdog has proven to work quite well for when I'm targeting small fish and it also stays on the hook pretty good compared to worms. I will definitely be doing more vids from small creeks and next time I will use a smaller bobber and a smaller hook! Thanks for watching and commenting James!

    My son liked fishing this way when he was 5 or 6 years old... I would laff at him and say he was just dangling his hook and line in the cracks in the rocks... I would try to get him to cast out in the water and catch a big fish... But all he wanted to do was dangle his line in the rocks by the bank so he could catch more fish than me... LOL Great video... Tiny fish can get everywhere if there's seasonal flooding. During one time of year there might be a thin stream from some larger body of water, and during that some baby fish got in there. That's how right after the flooding season(like the spring when the snow thaws) you can find small fish in all kinds of puddles.

    Makes me think of my Grand-aun'ts house when i was little - there was a neighbor's pond nearby, and the overflo sluice was loaded with sunfish.
    Thanks for bringing back the meories. :)

      +Randy Tyler it was built by the army core of engineers in the late 40's to help prevent erosion in the creek. makes for an interesting place to fish forsure. thanks for watching Randy!

    That was the biggest fish in the whole creek, it can feed a baby bird, or cat...that was a lot of meat and wasted time.Is he starving, and on 'Naked and afraid?" He needs to add some Grubbs! A few more he'll have a complete large fish fry.....keep up the entertainment, the laughter and information...Its like fishing out of the storm drains, yummy! Are all those fish the same reoccurring fish. Great fun for the neighborhood kids, on a boring summer day....Where is this feast being caught at what creek?

      +Bryan Wilson no. like where the sidewalk meets the street there in those holes so the street doesn't flood. you can drop in down those if there's water down there. I've heard many stories of people catching fish in them. especially if you live near any lakes or river
