    Thank you Stephan, I've wanted to get into flash photography and having found yr channel has given me the direction on what to buy. I look forward to more of your fantastic tutorials. Many thanks from UK.

    Thanks for this tutorial--I just unboxed some off camera flashes and am figuring out how to use them, so this was much needed information. Also--you made the foggy background with FLOUR. Wow!!!!! I love this effect!!!!!!

    Canon flash systems are very versatile and work well, but can be complex and difficult to remember certain settings, the pre flash of E-TTL can also confuse some people.
    I really enjoyed this video, you showed great examples of the settings and well done for your time and work.

    Superb video, I've just ordered 2 X Yongnuo 685 and a 622c tx for bird photography so this was especially helpful. Some stunning shots there especially those with the flour.

    This was great information Stephan but it's a little beyond the basics. Would you consider making a tutorial about the basics of the YN685 meaning how to set it up and use it both on the camera and off? There is nothing out there in the way of a basic tutorial on this equipment. I'm using Nikon gear. Thanks Stephan!

    I wonder if I can use this same setup off-camera with Sony a7r2? Or will HSS not work with Sony, even off-camera?

    Hi, Stephan
    i want to go with Yongnuo digital flash guns. can you suggest which is better with canon 6D. yes i need it ttl as well high speed though i dont have to shoot sports but want to do wedding but i mostly used prime lens like 135mm f2 and 50mm f1.8 and also future plan with prime only.
    can you guide me Yongnuo 568 EX would be best ? or any other new. also which trigger is better with 6D ? i want to control power with it.
    or any other better way to make budgeted combo.
    Do you have Yongnuo 568 EX and YN 622 triggers how this works in english version ?

    Hey there, just found your channel i'm super impressed with it and even more so your photography. I'm now following you here and on flickr and cant wait to explore further.
    I do have a couple questions for you,
    *Do you know if the YN560 IV + III can support high speed syncing?
    *Do i need 2 568 or can i use the built on radio on the above for the receivers ?
    Again thanks for sharing your knowledge and artwork with me !
    -jeffrey

    • @StephanWiesner
      @StephanWiesner  9 років тому

      +jeffrey brooks YN560 don't support HSS. You need 622 triggers and the high end flashes from Yongnuo

      +Stephan Wiesner How do you achieve HSS with Sony cameras the A7 series please?

    • @castieldiallo2945

      does this work with the yongnuo 603 triggers/receivers?

    • @sputnik466
      @sputnik466 7 років тому

      Castiel Diallo@ The 603s are for manual flash only...not HSS nor TTL. You need the 622 triggers which does both + the (optional) 622 TX master for controlling the flash from the camera.

    Hi Stephan, I have the Yongnuo 568 EX (Nikon version) but I can't get the HSS icon to turn on the flash. Can you tell me how to do this?

    • @Robmalina
      @Robmalina 8 років тому

      do you use it on or off camera? if on-camera you might need to switch your camera settings (Menu-bracketing/flash-e5-auto FP) and change FP to on.

    Please correct me if I am wrong.... as 6d is not capable to trigger flash in hss, this is possible because you are using 622c triggers?

    • @StephanWiesner
      @StephanWiesner  8 років тому

      +Darko Zivkovic The 6D IS capable of using HSS flashes. I use it all the time. You need special triggers, like the 622c, for that.

    Nice shots,specially the ones with the gymnasts. Interesting tutorial (I guess its a lots of experimentation).
    My only doubt is regarding the reliability of the Yongnuo (because I have seen some reviews in Amazon where people complain about that). How is your experience regarding that Stephan?
    Thanks :)

    Stephan, during HSS, you say at higher shutter speeds the flash looses power. Is it just because in HSS the flash is more akin to ambient light and at higher shutter speeds the opening in the shutter gets narrower and narrower meaning less light hitting sensor ? or does the flash actually emit less power?

    • @SuperRichards28
      @SuperRichards28 8 років тому

      good Question!

    • @steveh3483
      @steveh3483 8 років тому +1

      It loses power because, in normal flash settings, ie up to the sync speed of your camera, the flash fires once. In high speed flash mode, at higher shutter speeds, the flash fires many times to cover the frame as the 'slit' made by the shutter curtains travels across the frame. As the shutter speed is higher that slit is narrower so the flash fires more times, Sync speed of any camera is, the shutter speed setting at which there is a momentary situation where the first curtain has reached the bottom and the second curtain is about to move, at that moment, the flash fires. One big flood of light and the frame is fully open to it. In the old days that could be as low as 1/30 or 1/60, because shutters were slower, in modern cameras shutter are now very fast or, can be electronic and can be up to 1/250 or more.

    • @laurenabk4782
      @laurenabk4782 7 років тому

      i noticed also that as soon as the sync speed goes beyond the camera sync speed, the flash losses power because it uses much of the flash battery and battery dies faster.

    Ich suche eine Kamera (bis 500€ da ich noch Schüler bin) die gute Sportaufnahmen macht:)
    Es ist egal ob Canon oder Nikon aber keine Sony:)
    Könnt ihr mir helfen, denn ich hatte die 700d im Blick, da aber manche geschrieben haben dass sie nicht zufrieden wären überlege ich grade.

    • @StephanWiesner
      @StephanWiesner  9 років тому

      SkillBrothers RD Das hat nichts mit diesem Video zu tun .-) Und ich gebe keine Kaufempfehlungen. Wenn Du in die Runde fragst, wird Dir jeder was anderes sagen. Soviel sei aber gesagt: Gut und Billig geht halt nur bedingt und Sportaufnahmen sind die anspruchsvollsten (was die Ausrüstung angeht). Es hat einen Grund, warum Sportfotografen ne D4S oder 1DX bezahlen. . .

      Hab' gestern dein Video genau über das Thema angeschaut, in dem du auch über TFP Verträge und Urheberrecht gesprochen hast. Wollte mir Yongnuos kaufen und da hab ich das Photo gesehen und es kam mir recht bekannt vor. Kannst ja mal schauen, ob man sich "gütlich" einigt und die dir ein paar Blitze schicken ;-) . Ich glaube wenn du denen drohst Amazon einzuschalten würde sich bei denen schon was bewegen. Die Erfahrung habe ich zumindest bei chinesischen Shops und der Androhung schlechter Bewertungen gemacht.
      Viele Grüße Namensvetter Stephan
