This video is great. It completely fits the lyrical theme, of depression and seeing the world fade away (see the graphical effects of bluring, grayscale, bathtub with razors etc.) . This truely one of my favourite songs :)

Very, very true, they are both amazing bands. Actually Opeth formed in 90 and Katatonia came around a year later. Although if I remember correctly, Opeths Orchid didn't come out until 95 where as Katatonias Dance of December souls came out in 93. And of course, the mighty Mikael Akerfeldt joined Katatonia for a year after Renske could no longer growl. It is amazing how intertwined Bloodbath, Katatonia and Opeth really are....Porcupine Tree could also fit in here 2 (at least with Opeth)
You go through a folder and find a label Doom/darkmetal, you peep in to it there you find Katatonia. You put on a Song and Wow what great music you think then you just fall back and Enjoy it :). Then when ppl come and complain "they are this and they are that" just turn up the volume and ignore ;P
actually i think this video is very good. a lot of work has gone into it clearly. its simple shots, but the effects and the way its been cut work incredibly well to create a dark atmosphere. the song though, i prefer "july" or "soil song" and i think they should have released either of them ones

Well actually it's not impossible. For me dark music is an excellent way to handle everything that is going on in my life and deal with it. So in the end, dark music really does make me happy.
Cuz there are two types of music...good and bad...and katatonia and Bloodbath are part of the good type...so they understand how to make good music, whatever style it is.
I think the video was great. Sure I liked "My Twin" better, but that was probably done on a bigger budget. This one had a cool underground vibe to it. I'm so glad the band put them here or I would never be able to see them.

Jonas Renske is an awesome and emotive singer (he's perfect for a gothic rock or doom metal band). They are not becoming mainsteam, and their lyrics are intelligent.
Doom are : Candlemass, Cathedral, Pentagram etc. Listen to them and tell me if the mood is the same... Katatonia belong to a group of bands i call Atmospheric Metal... with Paradise Lost, Moonspell, Tiamat (not early), Sentenced etc. Anyway, i believe that Katatonia's best work is Tonight's Decision. What do you think?

Tonight's Decision deserves a second hearing... Believe me it's an excellent album. The first one i've heard from Katatonia. Yes, this is the album Katatonia changed their sound into something more simple and less Doom but the guitars are still sharp enough and the most important is that the feeling is still the same. "For my demons" and "Right into the Bliss" - check them out..
Well, they get their metal influences from their old days. Katatonia used to be a death/doom metal band, but Jonas changed his vocal style in time for their 1998 release. The growls were having a negative effect on his body. Opeth tends to switch vocals mid-song, but with katatonia it's never mixed, which is why you probably don't seem to like it. I think I might give that band you mentioned a listen :P
I am rather new to this stuff (Doom Metal), but it sounds rather awesome. Can you recommend some stuff? I've listened to Technical Death and Progressive Death for quite a while now, but it's always nice to explore a new genre. Thanks in advance =)
