I had this song playing in my head at my uncle’s funeral. He died 6 months after my father. I had no idea how close they were until I saw the memorial services announcement in my uncle’s shirt pocket at the viewing. This song makes me think of them.
Jonas always sings about his brother. It has something to do with Omerta ( The Mafia ), The month of July and Departer ( which is a conversation between him and the ghost of his brother) . He is a brilliant artist.
@@witheredserenity3183 before I replied, I've searched any data of Jonas' personal life and background of this song and found nary a single mention about any brothers Jonas has.
@@Meledyne I checked after I commented and also found nothing. Even in an interview about the album that went through each track, no mention of a brother for Departer. Wonder how that misconception started.
Jonas and Krister singing together is something I hope happens more in the future. I can listen to this song over and over and just feel a strange and good feeling throughout the song and long after.
there actually aren't words to describe how i feel about Katatonia. Everything they create is a masterpiece and Jonas is one of those true geniuses who don't get receive proper recognition for what they are capable of. But I quite like it that way, because their gigs are small and intimate and absolutely beautiful.
i love all kind of music.grind metal to post punk any good shit that makes move and seize an hour of a day or less....it's....i think many of you can understand what katatonia is about.they are light, truth, life.optimistic in the grey, looking for the light, since you have enjoyed the light you never forget it.you just know the reason why.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is the best fan-made contribution to a music video that I have ever seen. Beautiful song, beautiful clip. Well done, mate!
This time I watch from the sidelines Your ghost in the limelight Face your fears And pierce the night... You ca feel the emotion throughout the song, amazing!
Agreed man, his fills are more tasty than a juicy beef steak. Amazing grasp of groove and rhythm as well. Thankfully their later albums had production levels that allowed us to hear his subtleties as well as power
Whenever i listen this song i dream of northern lands, im looking at a gorgeous view, its night and im watching northern lights. Its so magical, i know its dream but its like real i cant describe what i feel its so special.
katatonia..no logic..just emotion in it's deepest shape...we have began forgeting how feelings made of and what music can do inside us.departer is a song of deeper vision and emotions and so is the video made, well done, fits all the scenes.it's human.we are human.
Dinlerken gözyaşlarının kalbine battığı şarkıdır bu.. Onca kalabalık içinde anlaşılamamanın hüznü, senden başka kimsenin duymadığı o çığlıkların sesidir..
The person who did this video has a great sense for images and a very good timing, Thanks for this masterpiece. Perfect Katatonia song and images fusion.
This is my favourite band...saw them live twice in Toronto and Montreal during TGCD tour. But...am I strange??? I love this kind of music every bit as much as I do Trance and dance music. It feels like two complete different worlds, but hey...I like what I like. Cant wait to buy the new album. Also...check out Krister Linders RECENT work with DJ Sasha in the track 'Cut Me Down' - both original and Kastis remix. One of the best songs I've heard and is like the 'opposite' sequel to this. Cheers!
that just amazing , i only found out about day and then the shade, bonus track not long ago, and just when you think, its over, i found this beauty ! katatonia never ceases to be surprising, and amazing ! Long Live The Darkness !
I've always wondered why Jonas' writing has a lot to do with July..? In plenty of songs he speaks something about it, say July per se, Departer, I think ambitions as well.
una de mis bandas favoritas y esta canción no se podía quedar atrás unos de los mejor disco buenísima su evolución lo que me gusta de esta banda que no cae en la monotonía
It`s so hard to visualised these movements , riffs and sidekicks without the silence that moves so slowly goes away... just to go stronger Masterpiece... So you can be master in sleep... Deep...

This song is so awesome! And Krister Linders vocals... Ah, brings back memories from 1994 and Dive... He was just as amazing back then! Check out "Coming on Strong".
6 years later...still touches your heart..
+Kathy Tzekou 6 years later... still my favorite album from them (except BMD for others reasons)

you're a ghost in the limelight

Just Beautiful !
V....
I've never found a song that could articulate such melancholia, it's incredible.
inheritance and sold heart from katatonia
Unfurl and Decima
Sure decima! Have a look at pale flag and sistere as well
Or the acoustics on Dethroned & Uncrowned
None of those songs compare with the cold desolate atmosphere that plagues this song
I played this at my brother's funeral last month.
God bless the dead........
thank you
+Cropsykills A good song for it, and I am sorry for your loss. Truly.
+La Nausée Fuck. I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how hard that is. I wish you all the best, truly.
+Cropsykills A brother worth having , death finds us all may he rest in peace
The way he sings "Your ghost in the limelight" is bone chilling
:'( so sad..
The blinding white

Wait for your sound
Only so far

The journey of our lives
I'm so slow (when did you first say)
Compared to you
Departer (I swear it's the truth)
It's the month of July
Brother
In your eyes I was the stronger
So how am I to cover you now
Without shadowing your path
This time
I watch from the sidelines
Your ghost in the limelight
Face your fears

The story of our lives
I'm so rash (why would I swear)
Compared to you
Surrender (you know it's the truth)
It's the path of our lives

In my humble opinion, their best song from their best album. ...One of the best bands out there right now.

One of the best songs they have ever written!
this is overwhelming ... pure sorrow comming from this song , jonas , i feel like i lost someone close ...
He made this song for his brother who passed away. Amazing that the band can convey emotion so accurately.

Katatonia never disappointed me...A band with amazing song and lyrics full of emotion.
The drums coming back in, at 3:10 to 3:15 ...SOO spot on... gorgeous yet violent. Daniel Liljekvist is my favorite drum fill writer!

I can't hear this without thinking of my brother and sobbing and sobbing and sobbing. I miss him so much.
Very good. It's like played at least 3times in a row every time
when i listen this, i can go so much with my feelings in me.....
Stunningly Beautifully Haunting. Cant even begin to describe the admiration and thankfulness i have for this song. Katatonia. Thankyou.
Jonas & Krister, two of top singers working today, should do an album together. Their voices mesh so beautifully on this amazing song.

If what you speak is true, then this song has reached a very new depth of meaning which I thought was unattainable. Jonas, you are a gift. Hail Kata.
