    Regarding Carl’s statement at 5:14 about not being able to use the middle pickup by itself, you can indeed use the middle pickup alone. Master volume down, middle pickup volume up with tone pot push/pull in down position.

    I have been waiting over twenty years to buy a telecaster. The few guitars in my collection are selected for their precision. I just purchased one of these, and I am positive that my ability and technique will be the limiting factor in the music I can make with this instrument. I am honored to have this opportunity to play an instrument that is literally a work of art. Watching what Carl can do with one of these takes my breath away. I can dream of learning what this instrument can do in the next few years. My thanks to everyone for posting wisdom about this beautiful music machine.

      Wish he would’ve mentioned it. There MUST be a reason, right? Sure, more downward pressure on the nut for strings 1 & 2, but don’t regular old, boring string trees accomplish that? Maybe it’s a stylistic thing?

    • @texanfournow

      Perhaps to create some extra tension on the B string (which will be often "bent")? Also, never heard of a "Glaser Bender"...maybe to keep the cost down. Gene Parsons is still make benders out in Mendocino.

    • @vincentreyes6154
      @vincentreyes6154 4 роки тому

      @@dougiemanross And the thing about Joe Glaser is that for those benders, he makes an option for the B-bender to be converted to a G if the player wants to (that includes Brent's upcoming signature model). Whereas other bender makers (Charlie McVay, Forrest Lee Jr, Matney) they can only do one bender and it's fixed (from what I've heard of). Plus, save for Matney, these installations may take some time. Whereas with Glaser, according to his website, he can install a B/G bender into a hardtail guitar (preferably a Tele) for $685 and will have the guitar shipped back in about 3 days.
      Is he still taking orders now during this crisis? I'm considering getting a Tele one day, and I really would like to have a bender installed into it if I ever get a Tele.

    The reason why Jaydee Maness said it wasn't him on the Byrds' "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" is because it was Lloyd Green on pedal steel. Clarence White did not appear on that track and, in fact, is only on a couple of tracks on the whole album. He plays on about as many tracks on the previous two Byrds albums and, of course, he joined full time for their next one, Dr Byrds and Mr Hyde. It is hilarious that this guy transcribed Lloyd Green's part under the misapprehension that it was Clarence playing a b-bender.

    As a side note, he said "It's got a 7.25" radius neck which makes bending real easy on it." Actually, flatter radii boards make for easier bending and less issues with buzz and fretting out so the more round radius of this guitar is actual not great for bending (at least big bends). Fender should have used their more-modern 9.5" radius or even gone up to the Jim Root Model's 12-16" radius (depending on the year).

    I'm digging the playing and presentation of this guitar by Carl, really nicely done also with the background info.
    I like the unique concept and variety of tones, plus the B bender is an amazing idea on a production Fender.
    But I'm not too fond of the visuals of this one. The red middle pickup cover, mix of gold and silver hardware, plus the probably thick poly finish don't do it for me. I wonder why Fender uses poly finish on most non-custom shop American made models except for production reasons. Kudos to Gibson for being all nitro.

      I agree. Definitely not the most attractive guitar out there. Kind of a Frankenstein look to it. And grey? Maybe it’s meant to be more of a studio guitar?

    Dang, I JUST bought a 2000 Nashville tele with a factory b bender!

      I use a Nashville Telecaster made in mexico (1996) and it outshines my American Strat, Gibson Les Paul, and ever my Music Man Majesty. I paid $400.00 for it and it could go head to head with this artist model. I added a push pull pot that adds to bridge so I can get neck + Bridge and all three.

    Not having the truss rod adjustment at the nut could be a deal-breaker for me, I don't think I want to remove the pickguard or loosen the neck to adjust the relief. Why would you put this truss rod system on a modern guitar (even if it is supposed to be a replica? Seems a little anal to me)
    EDIT/8-30 next day : I have done considerable research since my first comment. I am sold on this guitar.
