I was just laying in bed the other day and was wondering if I could handle the oil change on my bus, THANK YOU so much for the video will be a great help
I appreciate this video, I just bought a 1982 MC9 with an 8V92, and I suspect that the previous owner never did any maintenance in the 3 years that they owned it, and this will be my first oil change, I am a newbie, greenhorn, or whatever you want to call it lol. We drove it all the way from Ohio to Texas, just barely missed the ice storm, she never missed a lick, but there are a few things that need attention on her. I hope to get everything back up to par, and just keep it maintained into our old age. I'll have to see how much oil it takes, and I want to change out the outer transmission filter as well. Looks like it would be a messy job, but has anyone ever suggested filling those filters up before installing, or is there any need to? I have found out a little history on the coach since I purchesed it the last week of January. It was a show/demo coach built buy Custom Coach Corporation out of Columbus Ohio, to entice people to buy one, she only has 152K on the clock, but it is 40 years old, so I am going to want to go through everything eventually, replacing seals, hoses, lines, belts, service all of the hubs, and check bearings, replace ball joints etc. on the front end. I also want to take the Kohler generator out, clean it up, and detail it, change out the rubber isolaters, and do a full service on it. And of course it already needs tires on the front, they look brand new, but they are going on 8 years old, however in that 8 years, there has only been 5,000 miles put on it. The tires show no signs of weathering, or cracks, but saftey first, the rest of the tires will need to be changed at a later date, luckily there is room to not have to do them all at once, and unless you are rich, you never want to do that anyway lol. Cha ching🤑 I subscribed to your channel.
Good job Shawn I've been waiting to change the oil in my 8V71 due to the weather soon though you might want to change the transmission fluid you definitely got some wear and tear going on as long as she's shifting fine she's probably out live us I've been working on the rear disibution box just forward of the air filter housing the rivets broke off and it was just sitting there suspend by the electrical cabling and and air line that comes in from the top of the box just wanted to share that with you so you can look out for it. Great video my friend Keep up the great work.
Thanks buddy, you all ways impress w/ the informative videos. Your bus is cool!! w We just bought an 80' w/ the toilet in the back.. not sure whether to rip it out or to keep it..
I was reading when I was researching the water pump issues you should not route the air box drains into the crank case. There can be instances where Copland can get into the air box and would normally drain out . You can take a bad water pump or head and turn it into water in the oil full rebuild. I’ll take some oil spots .
@@johnryan4244 These buses seem to take only two kinds of oil. 40 wt for Trans, Engine, Power Steering or 90wt gear oil for Diff, Bearings and Miter Box. Be careful to not over fill. I did that and it made a mess pushing out the seals.
There is a mechanical one on the driver side of engine. If you lost oil pressure the engine would shutdown and or be destroyed. Check the sending wires.
Wondering why there was zero walk through explanations of which steps you were taking, which filters and why. We have novices watching. Newbie bus owners.
Appreciate the response! Been doing some research and found the napa and baldwin filters for primary and secondary. Im still looking for the oil filter as I believe the one on there now may not be the proper one...but well see. I'm checking wix now.

I have a much older video where Austin and I did it. Changing the oil seems routine now :-) You got this.
@@theknausexperience7671 Yeah. I've heard mixed opinions on flushing or not.

This bus owner would , had the drains been routed to the oil pan.
Great job. Question I have a 6v92 also 1994 where did you get oil lines from? Mine leak.
Took them a local hose shop, they made new ones.
@@HimmelbergerBus I saw a guy comment on checking fluid level in gearbox for fans. Anyone know what weight oil ?

Are oil pressure gauge stopped working on are bus 6v92 1993 n don’t know if the gauge broke or just lost the oil pump?

Good job! My 6v92turbo gauge stopped working, do you know where oil pressure sending unit is located on it?
I'm not sure those two are related :-) I think it's near the mechanical gauge on the drivers side.
Great job! Could you list the Wix filter numbers for us? Thanks

Are the Filters The Same for the 8v71?
Not sure, possibly.

I my oil pressure gauge is going crazy in my 1993 mci mc 12 , any info where I can get a new one or a sending unit?
Make sure there is enough oil. What does that one in the back do?

If I was going to put Seafoam in a DD 2 stroke I'd go with straight 50wt rather than 40.
I put it in the fuel filter.
