Followed all your steps in your video and I'm on day 7 with my micro green salad mix pretty much ready for harvest. Thanks for making video easy to follow.
You are making me so hungry, I’m growing micro greens for the first time and I’m finding your videos so helpful. I’ve nailed the outdoor gardening so starting something new. I’m also in San Diego.
I never heard of growing micro greens until watching some of your videos. I was inspired to get a grow light so I could grow them through the winter (Canada). Now I just need to hunt down bulk seeds
I decided to moveminto a van and travel and have started a small organic garden consisting of sprouts and microgreens and it takes up practically no space. Im so proud of it so far!
I freaking love you dude !!!!!!! I know you dont know this but you are training me to be self sufficient . Not just for myself but for my whole family . God bless your very kind and wise self . I am starting from scratch so I need every bit of help I can get . Do uou have a video on using other objects as planters ? I would love to see it soon . Or maybe you can make one . Keep up your outstanding work . It is highly appreciated.
You can try blending the greens into some boiled chicken to make a chicken salad or add the rest of ghe broth into the chicken mix to make a stew. You can also combine them into your spaghetti.
Haha, when you pull out the grass sheers 😂 love it!! Very educational videos. Glad I came across your videos as I am starting my very first apartment garden 😆
Couple thoughts: If you leave the cut tray for a couple of weeks, it will grow to nice baby greens. I do this a lot if I have the room. There are seeds that do grow right away, or plants that were too small to be cut. These will grow nice into baby greens. My other thought is why turn the soil in compost bin? I have worked out a method that you can replant with microgreens and reuse the soil right away. To do it, cut your microgreens as usual, then come back and cut the tray even with the soil level. Then put a thin layer of seed starter and replant. I have trays that last for months this way. I also put worms in my trays which makes it all work as the worms keep the soil good for several months. Anyway, nice video
@@cathleencaratan3373 I agree, I was talking more about the expense of using new soil every time, which can get expensive. I reused the soil in one of my trays for over 2 years as an experiment. I had worms in the trays, so that helped me to keep using it. Eventually it turned into all castings. : )
I want some! Now! Microgreens look yummy! I know I like sprouts that are used in oriental cooking, too. I can't wait to shop for seeds. I have chia seeds and maybe radishes and stuff for my garden. Maybe half can be used as microgreens. Woopee!
Funny you mentioned Plato's cave. I was literally just thinking about how I wasn't growing and foraging my own food and making my own wine when I was just another shadow on that cave wall. You're a good shit 👍
Kevin another great episode. The Grass Shears for cutting microgreens is an awesome idea. That is the first time I've seen anybody use Grass Shears. Might be a huge time saver I'm going to have to try it.
First time viewer and new subscriber. I use a razor sharp fish filet knife, works well, but I like the idea of grass shears and will try one. You are dead on with your dressing. Good EVO, red wine vinegar and parmesan cheese, pinch of salt and twist of pepper. really come together. For a dinner salad try any one or a combination of goat cheese, avocado and tomato. Cooked shrimp or smoked salmon also go great. You can also try slices of seared steak or roasted chicken. I have also enjoyed ravioli and microgreens.
Heyyy you said you're a hydroponics guy, im gonna take a look i guess but whats your opinion on Duckweed? maybe not in the aquarium but i hear it has a lot of protein in it.
in both your videos, this one and the complete guide, you use "no holes' trays, how you water the tray after the green is germinated? usually you do bottom watering using a double tray. just little confused
Love your videos! I'm brand new to gardening and have been trying to absorb all of the advice I can find to raise some veggies and greens for fresh summer salads and your advice has been invaluable. Thank you!
WEN i saw these i remembered my mother because wen i was young she used to make the same process wen she was making traditional alcohol called umqomboti using sorghum.i am from a remote rural area in south africa .i believe they are geniuses and if there was someone hu saw the process would have seen it as a big step towards wat has just been discovered now at that time it was around 1996.i still cant believe my eyes by the way i am a black african.
Excellent video. As a new gardener i learned a ton about how to get started with microgreens. I definitely want to give it a shot. Stoked to hear that you have a podcast. Thanks!
You add water to the bottom of the tray before seeding and mist during germination, but what about once the covers come off? Still just a daily mist or do the greens require more water as they green up and grow?
you can also wait a bit longer till the true leaves are bigger, then harvest those leaves leaving the rest of the plant to regrow more to harvest multiple times.
I did that one winter using Kratky method. I got a half gallon glass jug from Bed, Bath and Beyond which just happened to have the same diameter as my little hydroponic netpots. I wrapped it with foil to block light, filled with hydro solution, fill the net pot with little Growstones, planted some lettuce seeds and just watered a couple of days at first to get it all going. After that, I did nothing but cut gorgeous little leaves for the salad. No more watering or playing with pH meters or anything. That one-time planting kept me with lettuce for months.
Wonderful video, thank you for the information! How often do you water and with what method? How far are the seeds from the light source, does that matter?
HELLO KEVIN I tried this mix turned out good until (PROBLEM) other video's say spray seeds til they germinate NO MORE ON TOP.water thru bottom o k you put in water at start but with mine day 6 my soil was dry . After checking video how did you water the soil later. HELP stuck with dry soil.
@@epicgardening Do you have any videos with steps to compost? Thanks so much for going through this whole process start to finish! thats what we are looking for and ive never seen anyone do it before!! Thank you!
Kavin, really nice explanation on growing Microgreens. I have some really simple questions and would appreciate if you could give some guidelines. I am planning to grow them in my basement and I live in upstate New York. The question is Does your blackout dome has any holes in it? How about air circulation inside the dome? Should I be worry about air circulation while they are inside the dome and when they will be transferred under the lights? How often did you need to water the plants when they are inside the black out dome and when you transfer them outside under grow lights? Thanks again..
Thx for the informative vid. Just a wanted to ask what happens after the harvest ? Do they regrow ? If so how many times? Or once u cut it you throw it out and restart the whole process ? Thanks
i would have used scissors to make sure i didn't pull any out though, but you would do wonderful growing vegetables on a big scale like Stephen. :-) LOL,i wrote this and you got the scissors hahahahahh,.
You say "check the surface for any mold." If you find mold what do you do? Throw the entire crop out and start over? I can't see that anything could be done about the mold without destroying the entire tray so would just like to know what you suggest if there is mold present? Thanks.
Followed all your steps in your video and I'm on day 7 with my micro green salad mix pretty much ready for harvest. Thanks for making video easy to follow.
Congrats Ronald!
This looks so simple, and it looks like great eating! GLORIOUS!!!

Try Everwilde Farms or True Leaf Market
did you see this updated video ua-cam.com/video/dtvuMNVLISo/v-deo.html
Also, some seeds sold for consumption at the grocery store, dried peas, beans, etc are cheap, and will often germinate.
I love this channel. I got a mini micro green garden in my bed room right now. In a home depo box. Growlights. Literally waiting on my salad. Lol
Glad to know that I'm not the only one who likes to "pet" the leafy top of their microgreens garden.
Omg that truffle and mushroom pasta is amazing - I can’t wait to try my micros with it! Thanks from Sydney, Australia!
Can we just also take a moment to recognise how good that ravioli looked.
Nom nom nom
For real!
Yes. Yes we can. 💯🙏🤣

I’m just now getting into all this and I think your videos are absolutely amazing and very easy to follow.
It’s so nice you answer all questions. I’ve learned so much😊
It's so green and lush 🌱! I'm inspired to get mine done, taking notes 📝

Shears looked a bit rusty to me. Maybe it was just the lighting.

Good technique! I'll test this
Putting it into the compost is not a waste.
I love that there are 10x10 trays now.

Gonna try this very soon, cant wait !
Once you harvest do you continue to grow or recycle it and start again

Great inspiration overall. If you let the water boil before you throw the ravioli in it would be better. My 2 cents opinion
Appreciate it, I'm far from an epic chef!
Can u plant regular lettuce seeds under lights till ready to eat
What do you do with the plants in the tray after harvesting? I’m sorry if I missed it.
But what do you do if you DO see mold? Is there any way to treat it or do you have to dump and start over?
Great video! Now I want some micro greens!

When you were growing for market how much an ounce did you charge?
Amazing video - super informative!
Great videos. I would use some kind of grid to go by while spreading seeds. Thanks.
Any tips on where you order your seeds for growing micro greens 🥬Thanks for the great video!
Charlene Cole order from Mumm's in Canada😁

What an amazing story...thanks for sharing
Do you change the soil and pull out the roots after you harvest. Can you reuse the soil. Or what do you do? Asking for a friend🤠
Oh yum, I've got my napkin tied around my neck, my fork up and my mouth watering. Gotta grow these.
Yeah you do!
How long a tray last if you harvest a little at a time?
The electric razor the Grinch got for Christmas would be great to harvest these lol
What grow lights do you have in this video?
Could you get second around of micro greens from same tray if you keep watering it
No, you cut off at the stem level so there's no regrowth potential
Excellent video. As a new gardener i learned a ton about how to get started with microgreens. I definitely want to give it a shot. Stoked to hear that you have a podcast. Thanks!
I though lettuce seed needs light to germinate?
Do you re-use the soil after it has composted?
If I use coco peat do I still need to put water first?
Do you need to put fertilizer in the soil? Nice n informative video.
You add water to the bottom of the tray before seeding and mist during germination, but what about once the covers come off? Still just a daily mist or do the greens require more water as they green up and grow?
If u could please guide growing Indian spices without soil
Great video! & Bwahahaha @ I'll just be riffin on microgreens! Imma start using that😂😂😂
Cool how to
Never heard of micro greens
Get growin'!
How can you grow micro greens without grow lights?
Thanks Do you store the unused greens in ref? Or room temp.
I am so doing this! YUMMM
you can also wait a bit longer till the true leaves are bigger, then harvest those leaves leaving the rest of the plant to regrow more to harvest multiple times.

I have issue with mold in soil.. How it is its not generating in your crop.. If i cover it and put little bit of more water I have fungus everywhere
Awesome video!!
Wonderful video, thank you for the information! How often do you water and with what method? How far are the seeds from the light source, does that matter?
Usually daily or every other day! And close as possible without burning them
I will add some fresh chopped fresh mangoes or pineapple. Excellent channel for microgreens stuff. Very informative and easy to follow. Subscribed!
Sounds delicious!
What temperature do you set your mat to start the seeds? Also what kind of LED grow light do you have?
Great video! Thanks! Looks tasty…
Where do you buy your lettuce seeds
Do you water ever 1/2 day even when they are uncovered?
What are those white stuff on the soil?
what temp do you keep in your indoor grow room ? if I have a shed outside do I need to install a window air conditioner?
Hi. Wonderful video for a beginner! Do you water the plants after sprouting, while growing, with a spray bottle as well? Thank you!
Can you grow these outside? Or will that be too hot and cause mold?
Lovely series, thank you~
Thanks for your awesome videos! What’s you take lights? LED? Florescent? I’m just starting out. Thanks
For microgreens, either is fine
Thanks, love your videos. But is the light shown in the video the same one linked below it? The one in the video (e.g., at 7:33) looks like an LED.

Yeah watering from the bottom is a better guarantee against mold / fungus
After u cut the greens what happens to the pot? Will they re grow again?
Nope, I compost the soil!
