    I always suspected the taller the stitch the least yarn it consumes but I was to lazy to find out 😂 this is the kind of videos the crochet/knitting community needs! ❤

    I thought it would be the V stitch. Great job comparing. I knew the Bobble Stitch ate yarn. But, never considered project size. 😊

    I often wondered about that. Thank you for doing the work, so I didn’t have to.😅 Informative 👏

      Thank you 🙂I see on a daily people respond in crochet groups that single crochet takes the least amount of yarn. SURE .. if you are counting by stitches! But if you take the entire project inch for inch, it takes more. I had fun with this! Thanks for watching.

    This is great thank you!. Finally crochet takes up more yarn than knitting I am sure.

    Great job! Thanks for that helpful data! I would think you could weigh your swatches on a postal or kitchen scale, check the ball band for length/weight. Then do a bit of basic algebra and calculate the m or yds you used... I'm too lazy to frog and measure, lol!

    • @helmsfamily
      @helmsfamily  9 місяців тому +1

      Did you just figure out how to use algebra in real life? Lol math teachers will love you! Great idea though! I never thought to weigh them. It’s so fun to frog though! 😆 thanks for watching! 🤗

      I recently was playing chicken with the last of my skein, and had to make 2 pockets, so I weighed the remaining yarn and then took some off the scale til it was half on and half off. (That's cuz I'm too lazy to measure length, lol) it worked up pretty darn close to half! Lol

    I sorta feel like maybe the more flexy the fabric is and the more open a stitch pattern is the less yarn it actually uses. SC and Bobble are so dense, but DC and V stitch are flexier and move easier, even stretchy a bit. Id be curious if this trend spreads to more open stitches like TC 🤔

    • @helmsfamily
      @helmsfamily  9 місяців тому

      The measurements are in inches but the swatches were only about 3”x5”. They were just samples to give an idea which uses the least amount of yarn. Thanks for watching! 🤗
