Not only should this series be re-released, it should be returned to the air and expanded upon! This is quality entertainment, as only the Henson name can provide, and I'm only too happy to support more of it.
"He died?"
"...he died."
That always chokes me up. The Greek Myths on the whole weren't great, but this one is one of the best Storytellers bar none.
I loved all 4 of them.
It is heart breaking but I guess there is a lesson to the story. And that lesson is 'Always listen to your parents'.
They were on par with the original series. If you actually think about it, it makes sense to use a different narrator. The original Storyteller series focused on obscure, macabre European folktales. A craggy, enigmatic grey haired man telling them by a fireplace fits well. But it doesn't fit well with Greek Myths.

The vulture is so horrifying in the way it poisons Daedalus’ ego. Love it
I'm pretty sure Daedalus was becoming mentally unstable, and merely _thought_ it was talking.
THIS IS IT! This is the show I saw years and years ago! The vulture scene FUCKED ME UP as a kid I could never ever get it out of my head I can’t believe I found it!!!!!
OMG I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE
Same boat
Children grow to be adults by listening to their mothers and fathers 🙏🏽
Not all parents give good advice. While parents can help you it's important to think for yourself too.
@@prixe12 in this case Icarus should’ve listened to his father
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO RECOGNIZED THE STORYTELLER?! That's PROF. DUMBLEDORE!!!!!!!! Oh gooood!!!!! I am 101% SURE!!!
Yup! Michael Gambon.
@Ev Evenying Violin Gacha It’s the second (HARRY POTTER DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE?!?!) one. The first was played by Richard Harris.
@@bex1749 Yes, we know. It's become a meme.
Also, the original Storyteller, John Hurt, later played Ollivander.

huh?
I remember watching this shows on greek myths when I was a kid and how they blew my mind.
So glad I picked up this entire series on DVD when I had the chance.
Skeletor Jopko That's what i remember it from. When I was younger I used to watch these all the time and I just suddenly remembered them!!
i remember seeing this at my highschool, the puppets kinda creeped me out
OH MY GOD I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO REMEMBER THE NAME OF THIS MOVIE FOR YEARS AND I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!!!!!
Icarus reminds me of me. His story is so sad. 😭
Loved this story, glad to see it in video.
2019? No just me okay ._.
Meh
Well, I am taking English 1B this semester and I have to do an analysis on this story, so I watched.

Love Mr. Henson and this story line.🙏🦅🦋🌈🇺🇸
Reminds me of #johndenver songs, “On the wings of an Eagle” and “Rocky Mountain High”. Two amazing artists in one here. I believe...😉🌈🙏🇺🇸❤️🐸
So glad I found #jimhenson ‘s channel! So grateful! Things make sense to me now.🦋
Yes, you can, unfortunately it's only available from second-party sellers due to the fact that the DVD collections are out of print. Because of this, they are increasingly rare to come by and most for sale are being sold for $80 upwards, which only conforms how highly sought after they are. Sony and the Jim Henson Company would be wise to re-release the series.
And Icarus fell into the sea and call the sea “The Icarian Sea”
The vulture scene traumatized me as a kid.
i really liked it, but it was also so sad
That was amazing! I wanna see the whole thing now!
CAREFUL ICARUS...
Geoff the Robot sent me here.
Just got all of them, really gonna enjoy it.
Woooooow I dog can talk
Daedalus: ICARUS STAY WITH ME
Icarus: ignores and wax melts
Icarus: breaks wings on purpose
Icarus: yeets into water
Icarus: YEET ✌️✌️😎😎
The sun is millions of miles in space, oh, right, mythology.
Please, find a way to get this show re-released. As a long time fan of Jim Henson and as someone who grew up with a love for myths, I have been dying to see this series re-released on DVD and for the first time on Blu-ray. Today's children need to be introduced to the art of storytelling and myths and no show is more worthy of being that introduction than "The Storyteller"!
"Love him..Daedalus.... Love him to death..."
Great story. Like all great stories they transcend generations. Not just you. Busy world busy people focused on the unimportant things. The cream rises to the top.
I just remembered this story I was watching kong skull island and they said the story and I was like that sounds familiar so I searched it up and it’s just like I remembered when I was little
With the close captions it says "state roads" XD
So Icarus was a kid when he died
I really do feel sorry for Deadalus. Along with Icarus.
I reply love the background music as they fly
I had to watch this for school.... why meeeee

When I do Jem and The Chocolate Factory, Lynne (Brianna’s mom) will mention this Greek myth to Brianna in the scene where The Zeiglers and Jem and The Holograms try the Flying Bubble Potions. Luckily they didn’t get caught by Frank Sarris’ chocolate elves! The Zeiglers and Jem and The Holograms were able to descend by burping.
Poor icarus
I thought Icarus is a girl, because in the song : Stories from the movie Beauty and the Beast The Enchanted Christmas 🎄 I saw Icarus wearing a knee length skirt
Remarkable creative license on behalf of Nigel Williams!
How did I not know this.(the muppets)
I know the tale of Icarus.
This is harrrrrrrrdddd
I love this video it is a good story for kids :-) :-)
YOU KILLED HIM
Asking permission to use the video as instructional support. Thank you in advance.
When was the film finished?
icarus is still alive he fell into water not spikes
Elephant Lord but this was ancient greece not 2010
Surface tension. The incompressible nature of water means that when you hit the water after a long fall, it's as tough as any stone. He would have died upon the fall, else been unable to swim for his broken form.
He can drown if he didn't die because of surface tension. If he does know how to swim he'll probably get tired of trying to keep himself afloat and die
What’s up mr walter
Lol
Derek Jacobi !!
you can buy the dvd set on amazon or at least that's how i bought it.
Always a little disappointed when they have to change or leave out things from Greek mythology to make it suitable for TV or children, from the versions I've read the majority of it is that Daedalus wasn't fleeing, he was exiled and he's son wasn't born until after he found a place in Crete, and they always leave out how the Minotaur came into being; his mother was cursed with an unatural lust for the king Minos prized bull for claiming to be more beautiful than a goddess, she had Daedalus make a hollow cow for her to climb into and give into her lust. After the monsters birth the labyrinth was constructed to imprison it as well as it's maker and son, after escaping and losing his son he found another kingdom to call home and befriended the king's two daughters, it was these daughters who killed Minos when he came to claim Daedalus.
You have to draw a line _somewhere_ . And drawing a line at bestiality seems legitimate. Especially given that this was a Jim Henson production. Besides, they keep most of the dark stuff in Greek myths and Grimm folk tales as it is. Like Daedalus killing Perdix.
I thought she was cursed with the unnatural lust for Daedalus’s bull because DAEDALUS had promised to sacrifice the bull to Poseidon in exchange for power, but then backed out of his deal after he got it and sacrificed a shitty bull instead. The minotaur being born (his wife being cursed with the lust) was HIS punishment by Poseidon.
some amazos members are selling it used for 22 $

Deadulus did't fell
Didn't fall
Unfortunately the clip cuts off before the end of the episode. It means he fell in a figurative sense, into despair.
In some of the tales they say he fell. I remember in one they said he flew up to help Icarus but than died because of the Sun...
