Over the weekend I visited Statfold Barn Railway in the ticket office theres a high up shelf running around the room theres probably 50+ live steam models on this shelf and it reminded me of your videos, After watching them a couple of years ago I even treated myself to some Bahco adjustables!
Years ago I picked up a small Mamod stationary engine at a car boot sale the steam pipe from the boiler to the cylinder face had parted company all I had to fix it was high temperature silicone which never sealed properly although I did get it running.
And now I find myself looking on at online auction site looking at steam toys.
Great video! I had one of these models from new in 1973. It was green red and black, and ran very well. I agree with your comments about the reversing lever, not very pretty! Look forward to seeing the finished result!
Very interesting and some sage advice on the dangers of air pressure. I recently saw a new Mammod Steam Waggon, released for the 50th anniversary of that model, this one had a canopy. I was wondering whether yours had one as well I couldn't any obvious mounting points.
I shall be looking closely at the wear on the oscillating piston and port faces on my engines.

Do you recommend anything to flush out a boiler on these models? I have two models which haven't steamed in about 30 years. Wondering if I should do anything special? Or just give it a rinse out with water?
