So I'm a bit confused. When adding chains at the beginning for the space between the legs, and then connecting one leg to another, why was the stich marker moved to indicate w new place for the start of next round? I always though that the end of last round of the working leg with uncut yarn is also the start of round 1 around both legs and the body. So the chain 1 from "uncut" leg would also be the first stich of the new round. And then, after we insert the hook into the second leg and connect both of them with a stich, that's a second stich of the round. Is what you're doing here a more "mathematically correct" method of counting rounds? Does it make anything easier later on? Or is it a personal preference ?

I think it is just easier for evening out the stitches. if you are counting the chains at the beginning as part of the round, then you don't have the height of the single crochet yet. I like to think of it as like a starting chain. Its like the base that you are working off of so everything is even. maybe it is just preference, but it makes sense in my head. I like to tell people to move the stitch marker so I can track the beginning and end of my round better. Moving the stitch marker is just preference, but again, it works for my brain!
