The line to Glasgow Queen Street has a similar approach to that of London's Kings Cross. Both stations are close to tunnels immediately after leaving the platforms going northwards.
A good couple of videos here! The 91 trip was cool, but I'm especially glad to see this return trip on the EtoG being covered. I'm not a huge fan of Turbostars but I'll admit I do like them in the NX Scotrail scheme. As always, nice and informative vid!
+Peter Stuart Thanks. Glad you've enjoyed both of these recent videos. In reality I'm not a big fan of the Turbostars either, having preference for older DMUs.. but in TS they are nice to drive :)
Great video... "Saughton" is pronounced with the 'gh' vocalised, so more like SOCH-ton. Gogar is GO-gar, and you were right on the latter pronunciation of Ratho ;)
+Kevin McGill Haha thanks! It's often difficult to get the pronunciations right in areas you're not familiar with in real life, so I'm always open to correction. :)
Nicely done. By the way when you passed Lochmill (?) goods between Linlithgow and Polmont, the track behind the fence on the right is the end of Bo'Ness and Kiniell Railway. it connects to the main line just before the yard.
+PTGRail It's Greenhill Upper Junction. Greenhill Lower is on the line from Perth, Stirling and Larbert. It's where the line from Cumbernauld and Coatbridge connects. I have a Track Atlas www.trackmaps.co.uk/trackmaps/product.asp?productid=1
Wichburgh tunnel is the one you want mate. There is disruption between Glasgow-Edinburgh until March 13-17(?) essential works on that tunnel. Happy new year.
+PTGRail +PTGRail *Winchburgh. Slight spelling error there. By the way, the tunnel at Glasgow Queen Street is going to be closed from March 17-August 8. All high level trains will be diverted through QS lower level or Glasgow Central. What a laugh that's going to be.
There is a way to fix the headlights on the class 158 if you would like some help with it? Also any chance of a West highland Extension route learning/guide video if you have time?
+Louis Adamowicz Indeed, how do you fix the headlights on the Class 158? And indeed I am considering making a video on that route in the near future, possibly this month :)
Hey I was just wondering at the where that fallen tree was and the line were shut of the trains that were going from waverly to like london and that must not be able to run or am i wrong coz as you come out of haymarket the turning of for that is straight away and that there is no other way on getting the the track so they must not run?
Peter, with the Flying Scotsman due to be back in service in February I think it would be more than appropriate, in fact, something that would be kind of expected of you, to make a train guide on the Class A1 and release the video on the train's inaugural run.
I have been to the UK from the U.S. many times before. Especially Birmingham where my cousins live, and it never caught my eye until now. I noticed that Many of the trains in the U.K have some bit of a yellow front. Why is this? Most notable my favorite London train, the class 378. (Profile Photo)
In the days of Steam, you can hear the train from a mile away since they're so loud. When the diesel and electric trains were introduced, they were much quieter. Basically, they painted the trains with yellow ends to increase visibility.
+Etho Smith Olive oil's answer is accurate. It's all about safety and visibility - the yellow fronts can be seen from much further away so it's mandatory that all British trains have a yellow section on the front of them.
That rule has now changed since you posted this comment. A train can have any colour on the front now along as it has sufficient headlamps and is very audible, But should avoid colours that may conflict with track side aspects and hi-vis safety colours. Only those that don't meet the new safety requirements, maintenance and shunting locos must have a yellow section. I believe companies find it good practice to still have the yellow section though, so i think little will change in the meantime.
+Joshua Dunbar TV The game does indeed update every year and all past add ons will continue to be compatible with the new game. TS 2016 comes with the 1950s Riviera Line, Cologne to Koblenz and Sherman Hill. :)
Hello PTG, Mmm if not too much trouble for the next video, the option could put you translate?, Why do not really understand their language, since in other previous videos that option appears, want to see what it says, it is nice and well explained what he says, From and thank you very much and good video though I was not clear what he said :) .
+Alan Antonio Bre Hi Alan. I'm not sure what you mean? I don't know anything much about UA-cam and translation options. I've not changed any settings, just uploaded the video as normal. What is your native language? :)
+PTGRail Have you heard of the 1992 (I think) and then the 1994 games of Transport Tycoon and Transport Tycoon Deluxe (respectively)? OpenTTD was created in 2004 and is the open-source version of the game which has, and still is, being developed to make a very good game indeed.
Happy New Year. Do you ever get any red/amber lights on your travels? What game are you playing and do you need Steam to play it? Thanks in advance for your reply.
+itsonlyme458 You do indeed, and I had a red light on this very journey. I'm playing Train Simulator 2016, and yes you do need Steam to play it. It's available on there :)
Another quality run, the performance issue you had is very odd as i've always found this route to be one of the best performing and smoothest I've used. Maybe your choice of 3d sky had an effect, i'm always seeing people saying to turn it off to save FPS. There is a fix on the uktrainsim forums for the SC158 headlights, it's an easy cut n paste job, shows how lazy DTG are that cant be bothered to do this themselves!!! As always, make a backup of the existing ..\Assets\RSC\SettleCarlisle\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class158\Default\DMSL\Class158_dmsl.bin and ..\Assets\RSC\SettleCarlisle\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class158\Default\DMSL\Class158_dmsl_nd.bin files, and simply extract the contents of: drive.google.com/file/d/0B8L5h4cxX2oEcjJ1cDdRY0IxRUE/view?usp=sharing into the: ..\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks folder.
+simonmd2000 This route does indeed usually run at one of the best frame rates so I think it's more down to the use of the 3D sky, plus the absolutely massive file sizes of videos recorded in 60fps causing a bottleneck with the hard drive. Thanks for the info for the fix on the Settle to Carlisle Class 158. I shall check it out :)
PTG, you may have saw my facebook post on your page, but I'll might as well ask again: Can you do the Glasgow-Preston journey on the class 90/91 (don't remember which one) on the Virgin 'Pretendolino'. And sorry for the really confusing message, this is what I was supposed to say :)
+Jpr993 I have a lot of interest in flight simulation but unfortunately I'm just not good enough at flying planes in simulators to be able to make videos on them I feel.
ratho station closed in the sixties and does not exist its pronounced rath oh as one word gogar is pronounced go gar as one word go as in get set go gar as in garden but as one word
Haha, originally from Lincoln, but now live in Bexhill near Hastings. It's about 30 miles from Brighton, and I do go to university in Brighton so it was a good guess :p
1. how do you know exactly where to start breaking? have you studied the routes? 2. have you ever needed to re record a video because you stuffed up? :)
+DekkasTrains Syzmon is pretty much correct. It's all a case of practising with the HUD turned on and making notes. I generally only use the notes to prompt me with what to say and help me with remembering distances between stations. This route is one I'm particularly familiar with so it was easier than some other journeys I've covered. And yes I sure have had to rerecord sections due to messing up on more than one occasion! XD
170414 is the only ScotRail train with the borders railway livery! Seen it many times even on the day the borders railway was open! Great Video.
+Class380Fan Awesome, thanks for the info :)
+PTGRail nice one what route are you planning next?:)
+PTGRail That 158 accelerated into the station fast.
The line to Glasgow Queen Street has a similar approach to that of London's Kings Cross. Both stations are close to tunnels immediately after leaving the platforms going northwards.
You should make an updated video of this route on TSW3 in the Class 385
Excellent one PTG, The class 170 is one of my favourite DMU's! And learning all that info along the way! I learn so much. Thanks PTG!
+PoliceAndTheTube Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed this video :)
+PTGRail No problem keep this at a correct nice high standard! Excellent
A good couple of videos here! The 91 trip was cool, but I'm especially glad to see this return trip on the EtoG being covered. I'm not a huge fan of Turbostars but I'll admit I do like them in the NX Scotrail scheme.

The first tunnel's name is Mound Tunnel (130 yds).
+lcmortensen Thank you :)
I work for scotrail, I can confirm that that short tunnel leaving waverley is indeed called the mound tunnel.
Nicely done. By the way when you passed Lochmill (?) goods between Linlithgow and Polmont, the track behind the fence on the right is the end of Bo'Ness and Kiniell Railway. it connects to the main line just before the yard.
+William Mankelow Thanks Will. I knew the Bo'ness railway was somewhere around there but I wasn't sure exactly where it was. :)
+PTGRail It's Greenhill Upper Junction. Greenhill Lower is on the line from Perth, Stirling and Larbert. It's where the line from Cumbernauld and Coatbridge connects. I have a Track Atlas www.trackmaps.co.uk/trackmaps/product.asp?productid=1
Another excellent and informative video! :)
+Moleman978 Thanks Mole! Glad you liked this video :)
+Moleman978 I AM A BIG FAN OFF U AND PTGRAIL. could u possibly do a gattwick express 442?
+PTGRail does Armstrong powerhouse have a sound pack for the class 158 because the sounds are terrible
Profarmer267 They certainly do. You can get it from their website :)
+PTGRail also how do you change the destination display on this train
Wichburgh tunnel is the one you want mate. There is disruption between Glasgow-Edinburgh until March 13-17(?) essential works on that tunnel.
Happy new year.
+Chris Dewar Thanks for the info. Happy new year to you too :)

I've got this route just now, I've enjoyed the first scenario which I finished 😉
And a happy new year to you too! Great vid as usual
+TheBarnem13 Thanks! Glad you liked this video :)
I remember this livery when I was about 4 or 5
Brilliant video! Happy new year too, hope you have a great year! :)
+JDB158 Thank you! Happy new year to you too :)
great video as always. well done.
+the ship spotter Thank you :)
‘As you can see the track ahead is closed due to a failed tree’
There is a way to fix the headlights on the class 158 if you would like some help with it? Also any chance of a West highland Extension route learning/guide video if you have time?
+Louis Adamowicz Indeed, how do you fix the headlights on the Class 158? And indeed I am considering making a video on that route in the near future, possibly this month :)
+PTGRail Hi, do you have RWTools? if so it will make it much easier to fix this issue
it is easter because it's March.happy easter
Hey
I was just wondering at the where that fallen tree was and the line were shut of the trains that were going from waverly to like london and that must not be able to run or am i wrong coz as you come out of haymarket the turning of for that is straight away and that there is no other way on getting the the track so they must not run?
before the edinburgh trams were built alongside the line
Happy new year!
+Owen Stockwood And to you! :)
thanks. another impressive video. are you planning a run along the berks/hants line from Reading to Exeter?
+Robbie Turner Thank you :) Unfortunately I can't do that run at present as that route doesn't currently exist in Train Simulator.
Great video, but you kept referring to "Bathgate Junction"... it's actually called Newbridge Junction.
Peter, with the Flying Scotsman due to be back in service in February I think it would be more than appropriate, in fact, something that would be kind of expected of you, to make a train guide on the Class A1 and release the video on the train's inaugural run.
+Szymon Gorczynski I will give it some consideration. I don't currently own any Flying Scotsman model in TS.
Can you please show us outside the train an Cindi, attic view
I think the first tunnel is known as the mound
I didn't know that 170s were even constructed in 2000.
+Golden Boat910 P.S My faviroute turbostar is the London midland 172/2 and 172/3.
+Golden Boat910 They're horrid trains, I prefer 168s/170s.
+Omar Diab (LilNetworker) did you watch this video
+Golden Boat910 i love 91's and 222's/221's
They were constructed in 1998
Could you do a video which starts at Edinburgh Waverley and Terminates at Balloch?
+Callum Bonner I don't think that route is currently in Train Simulator?
I have been to the UK from the U.S. many times before. Especially Birmingham where my cousins live, and it never caught my eye until now. I noticed that Many of the trains in the U.K have some bit of a yellow front. Why is this? Most notable my favorite London train, the class 378. (Profile Photo)

Up until around 2010 it was a requirement for trains to have a yellow front.
hi, if you buy this on steam will your game update every year, also what rotes are available on 2016?
+Joshua Dunbar TV The game does indeed update every year and all past add ons will continue to be compatible with the new game. TS 2016 comes with the 1950s Riviera Line, Cologne to Koblenz and Sherman Hill. :)
yay :) thank you ill ask my mum if i can be a patron for you :) do you know what class trains they are on the rotes?
good video
+Teejan Lowe Thanks!
that was my favriote class
Do you have any videos about the German routes on Train Simulator?
Hello PTG, Mmm if not too much trouble for the next video, the option could put you translate?, Why do not really understand their language, since in other previous videos that option appears, want to see what it says, it is nice and well explained what he says, From and thank you very much and good video though I was not clear what he said :) .
+Alan Antonio Bre Hi Alan. I'm not sure what you mean? I don't know anything much about UA-cam and translation options. I've not changed any settings, just uploaded the video as normal. What is your native language? :)
My native language is Spanish, I speak little English, Mmm might enter only the option of translation yet.
Are you going to play OpenTTD as part of your train related game series?
+Szymon Gorczynski I've not even encountered OpenTTD before I don't think but I'll check it out :)

+Tim O'Grady I don't know lol XD

also i like the vidieo

PTGRail i'm from paisley outisde glasgow but johnstone is my local station
I would love for Chiltern Railways Marylebone Birmingham here or Arriva Trains Wales Swansea Manchester.
+LondonTransport Enthusiast I agree with you on the Marylebone route. I'd love to see that in Train Simulator :)
Maybe some metropolitan or jubilees running with it.
1. how do you know exactly where to start breaking? have you studied the routes?
2. have you ever needed to re record a video because you stuffed up? :)
1. He drives the routes beforehand a couple of times and makes notes.
2. Yes.

This is inaccurate. The 170/4 was constructed in 2004, so it couldn't have existed in 2000. At the time they were using the /1 and /2
What software did you use?
For recording? If so, I use Bandicam.
Are you a train driver in real life?
I don't think he is
No.
+Jay Wootton I wish I was. I've wanted to be a train driver since I was a young kid, but no I'm not a train driver in real life.
M
