Every artist was obligated to sing in their own language back then. Edyta sang an english version of the song on the dress rehearsal and some countires boycotted her because of that. That's the reason she didn't won.

Greetings from Poland😁 It was the best performance of our country at Eurovision, and Edyta was brilliant. Even now I get chills listening to this song.
Edyta is one of the best singers in ESC history. Poland have to proud to have her! That year Poland had to take a prize but this contest was political and rotten even in 1994. I blame Soviet Union and its transformed shape - Russia. They always suffered to see their ex-colonies succeed even in song contest (I'm saying ex-colonies to not harm feelings of Poles but for historical sake only, no intention to offend anyone here).
Some Countrys boycott Poland back in 1994 Becouse Edyta did her song in English to ... And that was forbidden back then In the final she sings To Nie Ja in Polish ...
I have to agree! One of the best singers in the history of Eurovision. And she should have won that year as the song was flawlessly performed. The Jury really effed it up bad.
Her voice is really insane. She did complete several difficult passages, and if I don't make a mistake, she could perform just several in line, without a pause. Like a combo :-) I can't believe it's true and I can't believe it's live :-() Bravo, Poland! P. S. Just imagine, what duet she could create with Michal Szpak, who represented Poland in 2016 :-)
It’s deceptive because she has such control over her voice. It makes for such an amazing moment after the bridge when she finally unleashes all the runs and power notes!
Jake’s Face Reacts I adore this part of song, too. If only she sang like this from the very beginning, the entrance would be absolutely stunning! It's wonderful anyway, and the 2nd place is a great result for a country-newcomer.
Check out Justyna Steczkowska - her vocals are amazing - I recommend justyna steczkowska -sanktuarium live performance she’s more mystical but spice I think even better then Edyta
OMG FINALLY!!! I AM SO HAPPY! Fun fact: she almost was disqualified for singing on rehearsal part of the song in English and almost didn't perform at all. They let her perform after all, but some of the juries didn't give her any points at all. Despite of that she still got second place, although a lot of people thinks she should have won the whole thing. Edyta also tried to come back to eurovision in 2016 with song Grateful but a Michał Szpak obviously won, although I think she might do great again. One of the best voices in Poland ever. Now when Poland 1994 is done, I think we can move on to 1995 and Justyna with song Sama :) Greetings from Poland :) P. S. SO HAPPY!!! Thank you Jake 😍😍😍 AND HEY! CONGRATS ON 14000 SUBSCRIBERS! 😊😊
Seriously, I've been waiting for you to react to this performance for so long and even requested it a couple of times. I'm glad that you have finally picked it up and enjoyed it so much. It's the first Polish entry in Eurovision history and hands down the best one in my opinion. My second favourite is probably 1997. Maybe you will check this one out as well sometime in the future. Greetings from Poland. :)
I’m Irish, and even I know she should’ve won in 1994, I think because there was caution over whether a debut country could host the next year and the fact that she broke the rules by singing this in English in the Friday night jury final meant that some juries punished it in the voting. The last 30 seconds still give me goosebumps 24 years later
I come from Poland but now I live no longer there for more than 20 years but I do remember that we sang this song during our music lessons in school back then because everyone was so proud of her participation that year. It was magic. And yes, she fully diserved to win unfortunately there were a lot rumours that the international juries were asked to not let Poland win because the polish national broadcaster TVP would not be able to organize the competition because of financial problems (true or not - I dont know)....
she is so talented, she tried to get to Eurovision in 2016 but she did not make it... the biggest problem with her is the lack of good song because she crashes every song that is not her actually. She still sings, this song also, still has perfect voice, more mature, but still awsome.
Ahhh, ESC 1994, featuring my favourite winner, my favourite second place and the greatest interval act of all time. This song and the winning Irish song were so different but both were so amazing.
Now I'd say that Poland deserved to win far more than Ireland that year. But, realistically speaking, Poland was still recovering economically from the end of communism in 1994 and it would've been really hard for them to host the following year. I don't think the simplicity of the staging was intentional, as even Edyta had relatively simple clothing. But still, a very beautiful song with one of the greatest singing performances I've heard.
Fabian81 Are you Charles on Wiwibloggs or something? Anyway, you say that, but I think Eurovision has made significant progress on credibility since the turn of the decade. Toy may have won with a large stage show, but overall, since Lena's win with just her on stage, stagings have overall become simpler. In the 2000s, even the ballads usually had unnecessary props, like why would Hungary 2007 have a bus stop sign? Even the upbeat songs you don't like have become more like mainstream pop, mostly at least, Moldova 2018 notwithstanding. As well, the Western European countries have started sending much more talented singers. Is there anyone from Western and Northern Europe who'd you call a bad singer, other than San Marino's singer? We've made progress since the late 2000s, when novelty songs were at their peak and, God forbid, the early 2000s where even the serious songs were cheesy and mediocre. With a few rare exceptions, the worst modern Eurovision songs are usually bad for being generic or boring. Besides, I wouldn't want all of Eurovision to be like Edyta, we need variety because not everyone has her talent, or the ability to write such a song. Last of all, regarding her dress, it looks simple compared to countries like Russia or even Hungary, so it was simple even for 1994 standards. Old Eurovision is either too boring (not because I don't like ballads, but because they start to blend together) or too cheesy (like 70s Eurovision, which was contemporary, but only to easy listening, which makes a lot of them sound cheesy and dated) this, in contrast, was part of my favorite era of Eurovision, which lasted from around 1993 to 1998 (you can probably guess why it ends there).
You’re spoiling me this afternoon! At long last, Poland ‘94! What a debut to the contest! Should have won! It would take another decade for another great debut (S&M ‘04).

Fantastic & a classic! Vocals beyond belief. The Mariah Carey of Poland! It's pronounced Toe-Knee-Yar and it came 2nd. If Ireland hadn't have introduced Riverdance to the world during the interval act, Edyta would have won. The studio version deserves playing at high volume! :P
Wow! Thanks for listening to my request from the comments from the previous episode. It was the first Polish participation in the competition and it would almost be disqualified. Why? Because Edyta Górniak sang a fragment of her song in English, which was then unacceptable for singing a song in a language other than native language. But we were lucky and we took 2nd place. Greetings from Poland.
Do you know that Edyta Górniak would not go to Eurovision for one more reason? Poland chose its first representative internally. The first two singers did not agree to participate. Then the phone rang to Edyta. She was young and when someone called her to propose representing our country, she hung up because she thought it was a joke. However, the man called for the second time and Edyta decided to become the first Polish representative in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Not only her voice is perfect but also the lyrics are amazing. Beautiful song. "It wasn't me to be Eva, it wasn't me who stole the sky, although I'm fed up with tears, my tears, so many tears, I'm here to love myself"
I've never heard this song before, but now that I've heard I have to say I love it. Pleace Trude Herr - I do not want chocolate in 1965 Germany Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu "(Volare) 1958 - Domenico Modugno Italy I think you will love it.
A strong entry from Poland in the countrys debute to the Eurovision Song Contest. Was stronger than the winner, even though my personal favourite that year came from Hungary, who also competed for the first time back in the good ESC year of 1994.
Now fifth generation(my son) of Polish people can enjoy her singing - I could always listen to her to go wild with my emotions. I wish the world could hear her so often like we do here in Poland. She is the best singer I ever heard in my life.
I like this girl so much! 👏❤️ She came second after Ireland and I reckon she should have won. I used to listen to her a lot in the 90s. You should check out other songs from her "Anything", "One & One", "When you come back to me". She tried to have an international career at the States but didn't work. It was the time of Britney Spears, so you understand 😐😒
It was debut for Poland and it finished 2nd (the best result for Poland so far). Actually it was the best debut result before Serbian winning in 2007. It also was good debut for Hungary (4th place (also the best result for this country so far)) and Russia (9th place (the best result for Russia until 2nd place in 2000 and actually I think one of the best Russia’s entry)). I think you should react to those acts too. P.S. Great reaction as always, thank you!
mcaron gutys She wasn't very pitchy to be honest. Like it is really not too bad according to some of the performances that we can sometimes see on eurovision... I guess she is just not really the one with a super strong voice, clearly she is not Edyta or Justyna. But the song is super emotional and is a masterpiece for me.

Isn’t that ironic?! I wish we could go back to those rules. I love people singing in different languages.
Two things I want back are the language rule and the orchestra.
Pleace
Trude Herr - I do not want chocolate in 1965 Germany
Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu "(Volare) 1958 - Domenico Modugno Italy
I think you will love it.
if she were born in USA for sure she might to be one of the gratest
Beautiful song ❤️🇵🇱🇨🇦
Hehe... W Polsce dużo takich artystów mamy. ✝️💪🇵🇱
Greetings from Poland!❤👋:))
Totally agree , I love the simplicity of it, it’s part of the beauty of this song
I keep watching this one :) Two reasons: Edyta's voice and your adorable reaction. Spare minute? Check the EN version called "Once in a lifetime".
A strong entry from Poland in the countrys debute to the Eurovision Song Contest. Was stronger than the winner, even though my personal favourite that year came from Hungary, who also competed for the first time back in the good ESC year of 1994.
Niesamowita !!!!
THIS. IS. WHY. PEOPLE. WANTED. YOU. TO. REACT. TO. IT!!! :D :D :D :D
great video, now i wait for ''Poland 1995'' ;)
Thanx my lovely!!
Now fifth generation(my son) of Polish people can enjoy her singing - I could always listen to her to go wild with my emotions. I wish the world could hear her so often like we do here in Poland. She is the best singer I ever heard in my life.
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS. I DONT KNOW WHAT I WILL DO WHEN YOU HAVE REACTED TO EVERY SINGLE EUROVISION VIDEO
I’m fast, but I don’t think you need to worry about me being that fast. Plus, National selections will start soon for Eurovision 2019.
I like this girl so much! 👏❤️
She came second after Ireland and I reckon she should have won.
I used to listen to her a lot in the 90s. You should check out other songs from her "Anything", "One & One", "When you come back to me".
She tried to have an international career at the States but didn't work. It was the time of Britney Spears, so you understand 😐😒
Greetings from Poland.
Poland vs Ireland would have been an epic battle under pure televote in 1994. Both amazing seriously.
Also Hungary ofc
Fabian81 I think it’s not fair to call this entire performance „vocal acrobatics”. There is a lot more to it, authentism included.
Ireland would never have won if the televote had a say.
@Fabian81 because Tele vote is a joke.
@XxShadowBunnyxX Ireland were not much better off either
@XxShadowBunnyxX Ah come on every country could say that Just asking were are you from my good friend.
Thank you!
Reakcja tego Pana pokazuje. , jak zajebistym jest Polska narodem , dziękuję
Ta? A ja jestem innego zdania. Tego samego co Piłsudski. Naród wspaniały tylko ludzie qrwy.
She's truly our Diva !!!!
HUNGARY 1994 PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I WAIT FOR IT A VERY LONG TIME!!!!!!!!!!
Hungary 1994 is amazing! Hugs from Poland 🙂
Edyta is the DIVA
Uf Edyta born in USA she would be a world super star ! Amazing voice and beauty👍
Yes ! This is our Edyta ;) the best one :)
Thanks for this 😉
Good is also Poland 1995 and 1997.
Abcde Zxyz 1996 is also great :) song is very very touching
Edyta Chmielewska but it's not very well sung
mcaron gutys I agree, even though I love Kasia Kowalska. She just released new album after 8 years.
mcaron gutys She wasn't very pitchy to be honest. Like it is really not too bad according to some of the performances that we can sometimes see on eurovision... I guess she is just not really the one with a super strong voice, clearly she is not Edyta or Justyna. But the song is super emotional and is a masterpiece for me.
Poland 94,95,96,97 ❤️❤️❤️
