You can use buckets to do TTM, but the fish are more difficult to see. To look for white dots or growths, red sores, etc. on their body.

Wow, I watched this video and was excited there was a black and white process to follow for great results. Went out and bought everything I needed. I now see on the HF web site that this isn't the preferred method of quarantine. They also have added in the use of sponges, power heads, and even hang on the back filter units. I'm confused if this method (TTM) should be followed at all or if adding sponges and powerbeads to this process would help? I can't imagine cleaning a HOB filter every 72 hours. This video, though outdated, was great. Is there another video for the new process?
Hello - “Hybrid” TTM is my favorite QT method. I personally prefer to keep it simple by using an airstone, PVC elbow, heater/thermometer as shown in the video. To make everything easier to clean/sterilize. However, some prefer to use more elaborate filtration or a powerhead for additional flow. Which is fine as well, provided everything gets sterilized before next usage.

Yes, you can use the same air pump; but I would use different airline tubing + air stones for each transfer tank.

There have been a couple of instances of flukes slipping thru Hybrid TTM. So, it doesn't appear that the method is 100% effective against flukes. What you can do is dose Prazipro 2x, 6 days apart, on alternating transfers (when no H2O2 bath is scheduled) to deworm your fish.
Can i use a small filter for every tank? They are very small filters where you can run it without any media .
You can, provided you sterilize the filters before reusing. Some filters with lots of nooks & crannies need to be sterilized with bleach.
I’m looking at extending my 800 litre fragrance tank and adding a 10ft display. I also have another Red Sea reefer 350. All the fish will be brought together and added to the display and frag system. These systems have been running for 4 years with no sign of fish disease. Would you remove them all and quarantine or just quarantine new additions? I have wrasse, clowns, tangs etc. including a powder blue.

@Humblefish & Reef, life happened and I went a few minutes over my 72 hour transfer mark on transfer #3. My question; is there any safety factor around the 72 hour mark, or will the mishap require a back to day 1 restart? TYIA! TTMH protocols
A few minutes late is probably ok, but as a general rule the 72 hour transfer is a hard point you have to hit. The three main "rules" for TTM are as follows:
1. Transfers need to occur every 72 hours OR less, NOT more
2. The total number of days to pass should be 12 OR more, NOT less
3. A minimum of four transfers is required, with more required if doing transfers more frequent than every 72 hours
Can the TTM be done with hyposalinity or is it best with regular salinity?
It can be done while a fish is in hyposalinity (as a redundancy for Ich + flukes). However, it would be best to have the salinity of your first transfer tank match the bag water of the fish, and slowly raise SG throughout TTM until it matches your DT.
I'd like to do the hybrid ttm as we've got what I'm sure is velvet, but only have 2x qt tanks @ 70ltr. I have 5 fish that need treatment so I guess I'd be pushing it to place all of them in a tank because of the Ammonia? 2x baby clowns, one full grown coral beauty, 1 baby blenny and a med sand sifting goby 😔 also my DT will need to be fallow for the 79 days so I'm not sure how I'd be able to house them safely without needing to do a ridiculous amount of water changes in the holding tank for the rest of the time ?
Also just to be 100 clear when doing hybrid with velvet do you need to do more transfers ?
You can dose Prime or another ammonia reducer every 24 hours to alleviate ammonia concerns.
HTTM involves transferring the fish every 72 hours. The only difference is you need to do 2 peroxide baths - spaced 6 days apart - to eliminate Velvet.

Can I do this process with a 5G bucket I'm trying to QT a blue spotted puffer so he's the only fish. Just thinking I have multiple of those vs 10G tanks
Is the puffer small? If so, then yes; but monitor ammonia very, very closely in that volume in water. In fact, it might be a good idea to dose Prime or Amquel every 24 hours for good measure.

So I'm a little confused, it says transfer every 36 hours until day 10. But it also says to do more than one transfer within the 36 hours? Is that just initially? Like Day 1, fish in, Next day transfer THEN wait 36 hours?

@@HumblefishReef I'm doing the Velvet method. I'm just a little confused where it says "Day 1 fish in tank" (assuming QT) Then Day 2 transfer at the 36 hour mark. So I put the puffer in at 6PM tonight. Do I transfer the fish tomorrow then set my timer for 36 hours? Or Fish in and start the timer right away? Only wondering because it mentions doing more than one transfer within the 36 hour mark and the timeline is giving me a little hick up. Technically, if I put the fish in and waiting the 36 hours it would be day 3. Just trying to see where the more than one transfer comes into play
@@DesertRider760 As soon as the fish enters the first TRANSFER TANK, the 36 hour timer begins. You will then transfer the fish every 36 hours a total of FOUR times. The final two transfers occur every 71 hours. So, you transfer the fish a total of 7 times: Initial transfer, four transfers at 36 hours, and two transfers at 71 hours.
Hopefully that makes more sense.
Hey, I really want to quarantine corals and inverts, but I cannot as I live in a tropical country where the water can reach 114 degrees Fahrenheit. So, I can only quarantine fish. I could quarantine corals and inverts but I would need a chiller and it’s too expensive, so my parents won’t allow me to. So what should I do? Please let me know. Thanks a lot. Please reply.

@@modernfarmer7501 Hi! After 2 years I am finally setting up my tank! I just finished the scape and I'm actually filling up the tank today! It is a 5 foot long 150 gallon mixed reef tank.
And for the quarantine tank, I plan on just qting the fish and not the corals or inverts since the shop that I'm gonna get everything from already quarantines the fish.
