- Everything you need to know before flying with your dog; our experience flying from Los Angeles to New York on Alaska Airlines with an Emotional Support Animal.
In this video, we go through how I registered Ryka as an Emotional Support Animal, the logistics, and paperwork needed as well as tips and tricks on how to get your dog ready for travel. We go through how to walk your dog through security checkpoints, how I prepared Ryka to sit in cabin and be comfortable in a small space for 5 hours, as well as what to bring, what mindset to have, and other essentials needed when flying.
Find out how YOLO PUP prepared Ryka, the Belgian Malinois, for the 5 hour flight from Los Angeles to New York. In this video we cover:
Emotional Support Animal Process
How to prepare dog for long flight (seating arrangement, fasting, training)
Security Checkpoint
What to bring with you

I’m SOO happy to see an actual trained ESA! Although I think it’s important that you know that certifications/registrations are scams😬
Unbelievably well trained dog. Amazing. Many people hate flying more than your dog ❤️
She waited till the end of the video to drop that Fbomb and a bunch of other words I didn’t expect lol.
ryka is so adorable
Great information. I wish we could do it too 👏
Love this video. Thank you for being real and mentioning how important it is to be a good handler while having an ESA. Especially of the larger size. Thank you for posting this! :)
you were saying that its required to have a dog that can fit in a crate under the seat but your dog looked too big for that (my dog is about the same size) and i did not see u with a crate either? did u get an exception on that or something? thanks again
Great video
Great video Jillian! It’s much harder to travel with a dog in Europe!
Thank you for watching, Mack! Oh I bet! Harder to do a lot of things in Europe...
I am going to travel with my PSD dog German shepherd for the first time. Thanks for the video and I totally agree with you we have to be a model to support service dogs.
Hi! I am curious if you can give me some insight on seeing how I can fly with my ESA dog (Yellow Lab) I have never done it, and i am reading that they wont allow them in the cabins anymore... can PSD big dogs travel in cabin ?? If so is getting that PSD hard? I would hate to put my dog in a carrier and not be with me...
Thank you for having such a well behaved ESA - she's gorgeous! As a service dog handler, the worst place to encounter aggressive, lunging dogs for me has unfortunately been at the airport. For some reason, people who fly with ESAs (or most likely untrained pets they are trying to fly for free) often allow them to wander 10 feet away on Flexi-leashes, bark and growl at other dogs, piddle on walls, and behave inappropriately. I've seen so many of these dogs acting stressed and nervous; it really isn't fair to them! It's too bad that the rules changed to no longer allow ESAs on flights unless they fit in a crate under the seat in front of you, but honestly it wasn't a surprise. 🥴
you took time and wrote all that just to hate on esa dogs. I get it that dog is living better life than you and its depressing. Please cry alone mr lonely.
Awesome
Finally got a video up!
@@YOLOPUPLA FINALLY
which harness is that? i have one similar but it does not have the velcro, could be nice if i can find the same model/brand? thanks
May i have the link to her harness?
hi, like your videos very much. I would like to ask you that how long do you train Ryka per session? Thanks
Thanks so much! We train every day. We work out for at least an hour a day. Training 30 minutes every day. The training is broken up throughout work out sessions and at home.
Dog in cabin…what a luxury. Transporting them in cargo is the real problem.
Quick question I got my dog in Mexico and I need to bring it to Denver, Colorado what airline will allow me to bring my dog with me do you have any recommendation Of what airline to use please let me know
Do all airlines have a form you have to file out or is the note you get from your Doctor enough?
When you day jut fast her for 24hrs, does that mean no food at all and little water? I’m traveling with my dog and its a 4hrs flight. I wonder how long before traveling should I feed her.
Lol no need to fast 24 hours before a flight that takes 5 hours.
Where did u get her harness?
Icefang Tactical
I don’t use treats if my dog is going on a long flight, thankfully my dog is toy driven instead so I bring a ball or Kong, something for my dog to keep and chew on the plane, too many treats will make your dog need the restroom
How long did it take you to train your dog to be a working dog?
Emotional support animals are not trained.
Can you still fly with your esa in 2024?
Hi...my dog is ESA but he is 75lbs and dont want him to go under storage .
What airlines should be best for long flights.
Alaska Airlines in my experience
Jay Lox - Most US airlines are adopting the new rules that only allow service dogs and small dogs that fit under the seat inside of a crate, to travel in the cabin of the airplane. Definitely call a few different airlines and ask before planning your trip. You might find it difficult to travel with your large ESA these days because of the new regulations - sorry.
Why did you have her fast for 24h ?
I'm guessing it's so she wouldn't have to potty during the flight
Where do dogs poop ?
they have to hold it
Henry Sanson - Most airports have Pet Relief areas near the gates so that people with ESAs and Service Dogs can take their dogs to potty without having to go back and forth through security.
