I have heard a few times to attribute $100 per person per month. So... $280.50/week × 4/weeks=$1120 ÷10/people=$112/person per month. Also, $1120 ÷ 90/meals= $12.45/meal. $12.45/meal÷ 10/people= $1.25/person per meal. Seems to me you are right on target Angela. Great job trimming down.
As a mom of (almost 5) what I do for breakfast is the same 7 meals every week. So everyone knows it’s Tuesday toast for example. For lunch we have two menus which we rotate. Then all I have to do is plan dinner.
It would be interesting to know what you were previously spending. Then the focus wouldn’t be so much on what you are spending now, but how much you have cut! 🤑
You are winning!! Healthy, hearty, homemade meals for your family. Organized. On plan. And an awesome budget! I’m very impressed. Thank you for posting a realistic family menu plan on a realistic budget!
I think you are doing great! I know there are weeks (especially if I have to buy a lot of meat) where I spend between $100-$150 for just my husband and myself. Groceries are expensive. Real food (less processed) is expensive. Not having storage space to help take advantage of deals makes it harder. I can’t imagine cooking for 10. Kudos to you!
Food is so much cheaper in the US! 🙈Also its interesting to see how compared to Europe our eating habits are much different in terms of vegetables and fruits. I’m curious; have you guys thought about planting anything in your backyard? Zucchini or potatoes?apple trees? It’s a great way of educating your kids about food and give the responsibility to grow something (even if it wouldn’t survive 😂) and save money.... potatoes grow in a plastic bag with dirt and requires no effort at all.... In Europe; its nice to see old food trends coming back like teaching your kids to bake bread; my mom always turned the left over oatmeal to bread for dinner time ( all you need is yeast and flour)...
I do this and make my own fertilizer and compost as well. My only lament is a lot of the things won't grow well where I live or, in the case of fruit, probably won't be ready for a decade...asduming I can't keep it alive that long.

Meal planning and cutting back on your grocery bill will only get easier!!! I personally like keeping track of what gets thrown away on a daily basis. What goes bad before it is used. What leftovers do not get saved and stored. The goal for me is to use everything we buy and not to toss anything ever!!! I have been really cutting back for a little over a year and I am so happy with how little gets wasted now! I really do my best to only buy what we need. Use what we have on hand. Try to make most things myself and get creative to use things in a different way.
I love watching your videos thank you so much for sharing. Applaud your efforts to de clutter and reign in your budget. Amazed that you and your beautiful family eat so little in the way of fresh fruit and vegetables though. Here in the UK we are encouraged to eat a wide variety of both and a minimum of 5 portions a day. That certainly saves money too if you can reduce meat and prepared food intake and use more veg - doesn’t have to be fresh as frozen veg is just as healthy. Appreciate that cooking for so many is a challenge on a regular basis. Suggest a nutrition module added to your home schooling curriculum might pay dividends.

Here's a recipe my kids have loved for years & still love & they're adults now & my oldest is married & has a 11mo old little boy. It's boneless skinless chicken breast or strips whichever you prefer to work with, pasta, your preference rotini, shells elbows etc, broccoli florets, & Italian salad dressing. We use brocolli steamers to cook in the microwave, we like rotini,. Anyhow start by boiling your water for your pasta, next get your chicken ready to cook in skillet, on cutting board cut into chunks & put into skillet with a little bit of butter & a little bit of the Italian salad dressing , see how long it takes for your steamers to cook & do those when you're meat & pasta is almost done & if you want bread with your meal we sometimes also get Texas toast to go with this . When everything is done dish up for on the table separately & on your plate put the pasta the chicken the broccoli and top with the dressing. It's quick healthy and most kids love it, sorry for the wordiness. A new follower Angela Klotz
I've done that before with potatoes, instead of a 10-lb bag I ordered just one. So much for mashed potatoes that night, lol. Great meal ideas and letting us see what works for your wonderful family!
I think you did really well! People often say to pay $100 per person per month for groceries. You spent just over $300 and if you did that weekly you would just be over $1000 mark (closer to $1200). I think if you needed to scrimp you could, but it seems like what you paid is incredibly reasonable considering the size of your family. Thanks so much for sharing! Love these type of videos!
Great start...there was a time back in the day I was so anti..online / home delivery shopping ...but one day I realised how much I dislike shopping and I was getting half way round the supermarket and feeling washed out ...and then stressed at the checkout...with the whole empty trolley ..fill bags ...load the car ...unpack the car ...unpack the shopping... find room for the shopping ...then COOK IT! 😅 I meal plan now and shop on line ...and have saved so much money.I actually budget so if I go over I can look at what I can do with out ...we eat much healthier and occasionally a treat is enjoyed by all! But it’s by choice not habit🤷🏻♀️❤️🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕
I got my diet plan from *Next Level Diet* and lost 2kg in just 10 days. So far, so good. Can't wait to see numbers on scale after 20 more days. I am so excited about this.
I live on the other side of the USA so I'm not sure if this is true where you live - but here it is drastically DRASTICALLY cheaper to buy toilet paper at Costco than at a grocery store. Even the name brand Charmin is MUCH cheaper at Costco. The same is true for paper towels and tissues too. Even as the only person in my household it is much more cost effective to buy these staples from Costco than from the grocery store. Something to consider as I'm sure a large family probably goes through these supplies at a decent rate. Thanks for sharing - it is so interesting to see how other people live!
I live in Canada so that grocery bill seems super cheap to me especially for 9 people. We also do kid friendly lunches and healthier dinners. I don’t want to fight with my kids at every meal! Haha! -Lindsay
we lived in Canada (PEI) for 4 years and yes, encountered more expensive prices, especially dairy. It is cheaper in some areas of the USA. I live in Indiana, so I think we have pretty cheap prices. If you go to the coasts, you'll find prices are much more like yours.
We are a family of 5 living in Alberta, Canada. That is a pretty typical amount to spend weekly here. I'm lucky to get busy in $250/week. So you did well!!! 👍😁
I love your planning ideas ! I got so inspired by your last meal plan video and tried to only go grocery shopping once a week since then. I noticed how much time and money we can save when we plan ahead ! It's only for me and my husband but it's easier to buy food with a meal plan in mind. I also started buying frozen chopped veg to add greens easily and avoid letting them turn bad. Could you please share some of the recipes you make ? They seem delicious !
I do a loose meal plan too. I find that just listing the meal choices for lunch and dinner is easier for me. I’ll just astrick meals that share ingredients to make sure I cook them relatively close to each other
Hello, just a tip from an Italian living in the UK where getting lardons for Carbonara can be pricy. Just buy bacon whatever type you like (I prefer it smoked for extra flavour) & cut it with scissors into small pieces. So much cheaper & you still get great flavour. It's a simple change that saves you money! 💫 Thought I'd share this suggestion 😊 - Isabella
Thanks Angela! I’m loving how much content you’re putting here on your secondary channel. 😊 it’s amazing how much you can save by meal planning and shopping what’s on sale! $280/week seems very good for a family your size.
Nice! We pretty much only shop at Aldi's. I'm gluten free, so our bill can sometimes be higher, plus I usually find something non food that I like or have been looking for. Our goal is $200 a week, including toilet paper and such, for our family of 6. Well, 5, because the oldest often buys his own food or eats out now that he's almost 18. I give him $20 a week to spend on his own food. We cook at home 95% of the time, and from scratch. We also a lot of times can stretch a week's worth of groceries to 10 days or so because of unplanned meals out or sicknesses or leftovers given to us by in laws or parties, etc. Thanks for sharing your grocery haul!
We have a family of four ( a 3 year old daughter and an 18 month old daughter) and we realized a few weeks ago we were spending about 200 a week every week buying groceries and then wasting tons of leftovers. We are currently trying to become debt free and realized getting that budget under control could help us. Our goal is to spend 80 or under a week for groceries. We switched to only purchasing food at Aldi. The first week we were at 150 and still wasted food. Following week 100 with much less waste. Yesterday's shopping trip was 61.66 and its going to be plenty of food for the wee and its not "college food" either. Homemade chicken soup, made from scratch chicken pot pie, sausage pepper stir fry etc.
It’s a big job to feed a large family! I understand! It’s a great thing you did with the chalk board! We have lots in common! Great meal ideas to break up the Same o same o!
Love the video! I was going to tell you that some of the things you're buying at other stores are actually cheaper at Aldi. My husband is super picky about cereal but he loves Aldi cereal. He said it taste just like name brand. A big box is like $1.60. Also veggie straws at Aldi are like $1.40 a bag. Yogurt tubes are $1.40ish too. The spaghetti boxes are big at Aldi too and aren't that much. The spaghetti sauce is like .80 a jar and we usually use 2 jars. There are a few Aldi products I don't like but most are just as good as the name brand. Just a heads up to let you know!
Hey there, ALDI usually make deals with the manufacturing companies for the name brands to have the same product produced in the same plant and packaged differently. I think they have to put the location where anything is produced on the package, if you're interested you can always check there and see if it's the same as for the product you think it might be a knock off of. 😁 Love me a good Aldi hack.
Girl - Aldi ROCKS. I'm a homeschooling mama of 5 boys. Back when I 1st started Aldi about 7 yrs ago, I priced it. I spent almost half less if I would've gotten everything from Walmart. You have to be ok with Aldi brands tho. You are ROCKING this & I love these videos. I am also decluttering. WHEW #NEEDNAPS
Aldi has some of those kid approved snacks for way cheaper, I love their applesauce pouches, yogurt tubes and veggie straws! Also their honey battered chicken tenders are SO GOOD, I hoard Chick-fil-A sauce to use with them.
I think you did great! We are a family of 7 (one being a breastfeeding baby and one small toddler) and we spend about $170 a week including household items. So, I would say that your weekly amount is pretty good for a family of 10. We’re supposed to be getting an Aldi near us sometime this year or next, so I’m excited to see if it saves me more than the Wal-Mart does.
We add lots of fresh fruits and veggies in both snacks and as side dishes ;) we do tend to eat more carb/meat heavy in the winter, but that changes in spring and summer as we eat lighter and fresher. It works for us, and we’re all healthy and happy!
Great video!!👍 I noticed that I didn't really start saving money until I started making some of the stuff that I was buying in boxes now I making batches of cookies, pancakes, french toast, biscuits from scratch and freeze them..... we definitely meal plan also so both have been a huge savings for us
Yeah- I can see that- maybe some day I’ll find the time to add that into my weekly Sunday prep. I do like making homemade bread- just need to be more consistent making it
I love the meal plan and grocery haul. Awesome job being better at grocery shopping. It would be tough shopping for a big family. I love Pennys to Pearls on youtube for grocery budgeting.
We love Aldi’s!! Try there sliced sourdough bread or sliced Italian bread. Avocado toast with diced veggies is a hit in our house and grilled cheese on the sourdough is amazing with different sliced cheeses!
Hi Angela! I just found your channel and i love it! Im 20 years old and a first time mom to 3 step kids and a newborn who is 1 month old. I would really like to see like a cook with me video? Like maybe a series about Angelas Kitchen or something? :)
I think you did great I have a family of 7, 3 being more teenager age and we budget $225 for a week. I don’t want to only eat junk food which is cheaper so although I’m being mindful I’m still allowing a little more in that budget for yummy nutritious food. I love hauls like these.
Not gonna lie my jaw dropped with the first order haha! I'm a student who lives with her boyfriend and I was mad at my 35 euro shopping bill today, but joking aside I really really liked this video - it's so interesting for me to see large family dynamics and also it gave me some inspiration on what to cook next week :)
You are doing amazing! We spend $850+ on groceries a fortnight for our Aussie family of 8 and I make all meals from scratch with basic healthy ingredients. I just spent $600 yesterday at Aldi Australia ...yikes! I filmed a shop with me video and we had 2 trollies piled high!
This just goes to show that I am spending far to much on groceries for my family of 4 with 2 kids 3 and under. Haha! You inspired me though to go through what we have so I don’t over buy or waste food! So thank you for that! ❤️💕
Love the menu ideas and the inspiration to get back into meal planning! Our budget is $200/week and I stick to it, but we have less people than you do and I feel like I could cut back on that if I planned and executed better. Thanks for the ideas! ETA: I tried the makeup trick you shared of putting the contour/blush/highlighter UNDER my foundation - total game changer. 🙌🏼
So interesting to see what products and menu you have! Im in Australia so loads of the products are different. i menu plan too because I work full-time and want everyone to eat well/healthy. We have way more fruit and vegetables in our menu and snacks.
The "Do It On A Dime" lady said Aldi's like cereal to the raisin bran crunch is very good. I've never bought any of their cereals, but love a lot of other stuff from Aldi (chips, org fruits/veggies, cheese, almond milk, breads good (I hardly eat bread), their GF line--love the GF spinach wraps, pastas made in Italy, Cauliflower pizza (frig section), roasted red pepper hummus, and some of the frozen seafood and veggies. I'm sure many people have shared favs, but there 'ya go anyway. 😊 Oh ya....the apple comment!!! HILARIOUS!! 😂😂😂
I am from S. Cali and now in AZ😎~Not even sure if Aldi is in either state yet so definitely will look online for their locations...We do have a great Trader Joe's just a couple miles away and have enjoyed that store for many years in Cali, also:) See a ton of comments online regarding Aldi's and looking forward to eventually shopping in one, hopefully soon🤓!!
I can’t stop laughing at the one apple😂. Which lucky kid gets fruit this week 😝. My friend thought she was ordering 6 bagels once and got 6 packages of them lol. Good thing for freezers lol
I have a family of five. I spend about $100-$130 a week if Im only doing Kroger. I do Costco twice a month and those trips usually end up being between $50 and $100. Those numbers include house supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, cleaners, etc. And I usually treat myself to something at Costco each time too.
I love watching your videos! We are only a family of 5, but I still really struggle to stay within budget. Really trying to shop my freezer and pantry.
Love ALDI! The bagels there are amazing and cheap! My brother loves there deli pizza, and he's autistic. You should try freeze fried strawberries my dog and I love those.
Pancetta is expensive. It won’t taste the same, but I take bacon, cut in up, then cook it in a pan like I would pancetta. It’s pretty darn good and much more affordable.
We have the Amazon Credit Card, and have discovered that a lot of the pantry goods our family enjoys is actually cheaper via Amazon (subscribe and save) plus the discount with the card. We get a big box of pantry food/goods every month from Amazon and it's amazing!!
Considering you are feeding 9 people plus formula for a baby, your budget looks great lol. I have a family of 4 and we do about $80 to $120 a week depending on what we eat for dinners that week.
Good! I’m still working on getting all our recipes moved into it. It’s super easy to add recipes from online, but I need to hand add our own which takes time. Otherwise- it’s great for planning- and creating shopping lists!
the roasted chickens at costco are really good, if you have any left over you can make a chicken salad, or chicken tacos, chicken quesadillas etc.. do you ever buy fish? like tilapia, salmon can be expensive but with tilapia you can make fish tacos baja style.. with the ground meat you can add some zucchini, tomatoes, potatoes serve it with some rice on the side and its good an filling and inexpensive, lasagnas at costco are a good buy, shepherds pie casseroles.. just giving you ideas, i grew up with 4 siblings and my mom would have to buy in bulk as well,, 7 people plus guests.. keep up the good work!
@@angela.braniff hello!! quick note,, love watching your channel your kids are awesome ,Benjamin adorable, I have a coworker that has the same name and every time i see him i also do the "french accent" Have a great week...
I used instacart for the first time today after watching menu plan and grocery haul videos for the last week or so. Hoping to stick to the 110/pp/month budget. Going to try and see if we can shop once a week without the temptation of extra purchases by having it arrive at my door! Thanks for inspiration.
I am so impressed with the extent to which you are planning. I plan dinners, and that’s it. I buy breakfast and lunch stuff, but i don’t have a good plan in place. Just an idea- you said something about the pancetta being so expensive. Have you ever tried subbing bacon? Love your channel, and I hope some very deserving child got that one apple. 😁
You’re doing great! We are trying to get our budget down too, we don’t have any discount grocers here or Aldi, so our budget is very high, we also like to eat lots of different and interesting foods and cook mostly at home. The only suggestion I have is for the toilet paper, we find it to be much less at Sam’s and Costco and the store brand is really good (in our opinions)! Great work!
Angela Braniff we are a family of 4 and pets, so I think you are doing amazing! I find it so worth it to stock up on the TP, paper towels, trash bags, diapers, wipes, (even formula!), dish soap and detergent, laundry stuffs, and meat. It saves us a lot of money per oz/ or whatever unit of measure per item. Good luck!!
There is a lot of good grochery stores here in North Carolina. Where we moved from our grochery bill for a family of 3 was close to $800 a month. Moving up here I can keep it around $450-$500. I am with you, why buy cheap food if no one is going to eat it. Better to buy what you know everyone likes, than to waste food.
Girl they sell organic chicken nuggets at Costco just picked mine up for the kids two days ago. There super good the bag looks smaller but last. Also, do a French toast casserole it’s super easy can make a whole dish in one pan quick and is yummy
I love Aldi! I do have to say though, I have found a couple of products there that I would not purchase again. Not because they were bad, but because the flavor was off just a little bit. Someone else eating that same item might really enjoy it though so it's definitely a personal preference. I have saved quite a bit of money from shopping there and it's the first store I hit when I'm grocery shopping.
Great job! I’ve been really trying to be better at meal planning lately and shopping my pantry before going to the store. We are debating once a month grocery shopping like Sarah over at Our Tribe of Many, but I’m a little afraid of the sticker shock 😳 I know it will save us money in the long run but that is a big chunk of change right up front. We are a small family of 5 and we are currently spending about 300-400 every two weeks for everything- paper products and household goods included. I’d really like to get it to 500-600 a month. Hoping doing the bulk of our shopping once a month will help with that! I know you said you don’t have the storage for that much food at a time. Totally get it. Even with our two week grocery shop we are usually shuffling things around to cram boxes and cans into corners 🤣 but we do have a second fridge/freezer in the basement.
Jen Bowles I’ve heard the same thing, and it doesn’t really matter if you have an infant, it’s still going to be the same.
Jen Bowles I agree with this! It’s refreshing to see a more realistic budget where you’re buying food you all love and enjoy!
Jen Bowles *$280.59*

I'm pretty sure she replied to someone on the last video and she said it was about $3000?
Meeloy Blogs she mentioned before that every food and household type purchase including eating out and coffees was over $3000
I'm think she posted a comment on another video that they were spending around $3,500 per month. That includes diapers and going out to eat.
Meeloy Blogs she said around 3000 a month in her previous video
She mentioned in the comments of a previous video what she was spending before... I'm pretty sure she's cut the budget in half! 😱 such a good effort!
Meal planning each week has helped us save sooo much money & now we’re debt free. I love meal planning & really enjoyed your video.
You are winning!! Healthy, hearty, homemade meals for your family. Organized. On plan. And an awesome budget! I’m very impressed. Thank you for posting a realistic family menu plan on a realistic budget!
I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos! I’m impressed by folks who can make all organic + fresh foods etc, but that’s not my life right now 😂

So glad you’re enjoying it! I’m having so much fun with it!

We do eat plenty of fruits of veggies. As I mentioned- the haul portion was only what we needed, we already had other items ;)
Keep these meal planning videos coming!
Changing your budget takes time and it's a lot of hard work. You guys are doing great!
Nice to see your menu, groceries and cost associated with the meals! Well done!

I feel this. 🤪

yup! I always have to keep that in mind, too, although Aldi's gluten free line is excellent! And they typically have clear marking on their packages.

Thought I'd share this suggestion 😊 - Isabella
Thanks Angela! I’m loving how much content you’re putting here on your secondary channel. 😊 it’s amazing how much you can save by meal planning and shopping what’s on sale! $280/week seems very good for a family your size.
Thank you :) I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! I’m having fun sharing about things I enjoy or am working on and the community that we’re building here 💗
Great job! Thanks for sharing and for the meal ideas.
#Relatable meal planned for the week yesterday for the 1st time
It’s a big job to feed a large family!
Especially considering some items will carry over to next week.
Wow that’s great!!! For ten people!!!
We are 2 and spend so much more...
Good job!
Awesome video. Your meals remind me the time I used to live in the US. Now back in France !
How do you fit in fruits and veggies into all these meals? If you don’t, are you concerned that they aren’t having a balanced diet?
Huh? For American standards that's a very well balanced menue if ever I've seen one.
We add lots of fresh fruits and veggies in both snacks and as side dishes ;) we do tend to eat more carb/meat heavy in the winter, but that changes in spring and summer as we eat lighter and fresher. It works for us, and we’re all healthy and happy!
You amaze me. I had two children. I can not imagine raising eight! Great job on your meal planning and budget!!
I do like making homemade bread- just need to be more consistent making it
i love using those martha white muffin mix packets to make waffles!! add one egg and about 1/2 cup of milk per pouch!! super yummy in a waffle maker!
I saw that idea on Pinterest this week! We may try that!
Oh man- I’m sitting in the courthouse waiting to be called for jury duty and now I’m salivating 😂 that sounds delicious
Hi Angela! I just found your channel and i love it! Im 20 years old and a first time mom to 3 step kids and a newborn who is 1 month old.
I would really like to see like a cook with me video? Like maybe a series about Angelas Kitchen or something? :)
Aldi has their version of veggie straws and they are equally tastie
I love watching others shopping hauls :) when we visited the us in November I loved Aldi for groceries! Such good prices!
You ordered one apple 😂 reminds me of the time I tried to order one little salmon filet and I ordered this HUGE salmon accidentally
Can you plz do an updated morning routine with Benji? Luv your channel so much and your adorable children!!💖💖
HILARIOUS!! 😂😂😂
We love aldi, really good stuff and such a cheap price! Whenever I shop anywhere else I really notice the difference in the wallet!
Great job for 10 people!
Mytop tip would be to substitute a couple of meat meals for vegetarian options. More economical plus health benefits.
Would love to see how a plate would look once food is cooked. First example palm size protein, 5 vegies, starch ect.. just an example.
Pancetta is expensive. It won’t taste the same, but I take bacon, cut in up, then cook it in a pan like I would pancetta. It’s pretty darn good and much more affordable.
Great job! We are a family of 8 and spend around $350 every 2 weeks
We have the Amazon Credit Card, and have discovered that a lot of the pantry goods our family enjoys is actually cheaper via Amazon (subscribe and save) plus the discount with the card. We get a big box of pantry food/goods every month from Amazon and it's amazing!!
Lol at the apple! I once thought I was ordering one bunch of bananas. I received ONE banana in my groceries LOLOLOLOL
My mom just had me and she pretty much only gave me pasta and lunchables all the time...these kids live in a straight up restaurant! ♥️
Haha! I’m sure your mom did the very best she could. 💗
Considering you are feeding 9 people plus formula for a baby, your budget looks great lol. I have a family of 4 and we do about $80 to $120 a week depending on what we eat for dinners that week.
I almost exclusively shop at Aldi. We love every single product we have ever tried!
Victoria Padgett I’m so Jealous! I love Aldi, but we do t have one anywhere near us 😭😭 they’ve got great stuff!
Same!
Loved this video! Please keep them up! 😍
Can you please share that pasta recipe please, love your videos
Much love from canada
Love these videos please keep doing them
How is the app working (that you mentioned in the last video) working out?
We do salmon about 2-3 times a month. It’s a big hit around here!
Great work!
Yeah- I want to start buying certain home necessities at Costco
Angela Braniff we are a family of 4 and pets, so
I think you are doing amazing! I find it so worth it to stock up on the TP, paper towels, trash bags, diapers, wipes, (even formula!), dish soap and detergent, laundry stuffs, and meat. It saves us a lot of money per oz/ or whatever unit of measure per item. Good luck!!
Looks good. I'd love to see your meals of the week after you make them, or some cooking videos.
What eyeshadow do you wear? It's perfect
Sure! I’m going to do that soon!
Oh yeah- we did that French toast casserole for Christmas and the kids liked it.
Aldi has cereal for really good prices! Their shredded wheat I feel is just as good/better as the name brand.
my kids love the blueberry shredded wheat!
Love this!! Thank you 💕
The organic spaghetti sauce from Aldi’s is really good and a lot cheaper!
A cooking video would be great!
Great job!
I’ve been really trying to be better at meal planning lately and shopping my pantry before going to the store.
We are debating once a month grocery shopping like Sarah over at Our Tribe of Many, but I’m a little afraid of the sticker shock 😳
I know it will save us money in the long run but that is a big chunk of change right up front.
Even with our two week grocery shop we are usually shuffling things around to cram boxes and cans into corners 🤣 but we do have a second fridge/freezer in the basement.
that's pretty affordable for such a large family! tip: try costco toilet paper! so much cheaper and better than angel soft
My favorite type of videos!
