LOL at all the comments saying "he is not a blue belt, he is actually a black belt" No, he IS actually a blue belt, just because he is able to beat a lot of black belts doesn't mean he is one. A belt doesn't mean you can beat every belt below you or can't beat people with belts above you, it is earned over time and due to age limits he still has a blue belt. That's just the way it is, all the people commenting otherwise can not like it but they're wrong to disagree with the simple fact that he's a blue belt. Even the announcers say it
I just don't understand how you can be considered a blue belt if you're competing (and winning) against black belts... and an accomplished black belt at that. Edit: People seem to be misconstruing what I'm saying. I'm arguing that: It is antiquated to believe that you can not be higher than a Blue belt because of your age... a beginner belt... if you are competing and winning against black belts. Does he have potential to be better? Yes, we all do. But he should at least be a purple belt. Then again what do these belts even mean anymore.

The blue belt comes from a very strong gi jiujitsu background, training under the Mendes brothers. I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to train in the gi in order to develop your jiujitsu technique. The gi game is more technical than the no gi game, sweat and being slippery are not elements than can help you evade bad situations and as a result, in the gi your technique becomes extreme sharp. That is why Cole was able to take off the gi and enter this competition and do very well

@@axelass Nicky rod has strength. His jiujitsu isn’t that great.
because you have only spent so much time at that belt, yes skill is primary for promotion but so is time and who you compete against. He may be amazing but still learning. I agree with you on this but that is why. They want him to be the dominant upsetter as he puts in the time to be promoted. the guy was 12 years old 4 years ago starting middle school. They realize that and are giving him time to soak everything he is great at, in.
Nah he still has like 3-4 more years. There’s other blue belts who have been training as long as him. But his training regimen and dedication is just stronger than others. That’s how it works, hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard. He’s also super talented, used to see him compete as a child (my little brother is his age and they were always in the same divisions) Perfect example, my little brother has talent but didn’t work as hard and now he’s barely going to start competitively training where as Cole has been doing it for YEARS.
hes only 16.
Geo fell off. I remember 2 years ago he was looking unstoppable now he's looking like Anderson silva when he lost his mojo
Most schools are hesitant to give belts above blue to anyone under 17-18 years old. Don’t be fooled but the blue belt, kids a beast
Bluebelt..sandbagger?? Or can't be a higher belt till 18???
Has to be a blue for a year so when he's 17 he'll get his purple then 18 brown and 19 black.
It's stupid but it's the IBJJF rules
Man this 16 years old kids are real pain. They are training for 10 years and just got a blue belt because of the age :D in final game l got choked by 15 years old kid in white belts division. That day he won 8 fights in different weight categories 😁😁
I just don’t understand why we just don’t promote them to a black belt for situations like this. I get trying to keep tight regulations so the belts don’t lose value, but we always have the anomaly and if someone clearly deserves it we should award it.
He needs to be promoted right now to a black belt
- Can anyone explain why Geo doesn't wrestle? Does he know how to wrestle?
This kid is legit
Two 15 second ads UA-cam? Great.
Can we quit calling him a blue belt lol
Can we get an ELO system already.
That back take was some Danaher Deathsquad ish, so clean
Cole has blackbelt level jiujitsu , hes only a blue belt because he is 16, when he turns 19 he will get his black belt
Is there an age limit in regards to belts in traditional bjj? Because he's modern bjj bb in my eyes hanging with a guy of this experience.
@@lewciferistic yes there is an age requirement for certain belts. Thats why you never see a child in jiujitsu wearing a blackbelt, this aint Karate. 16 is the minimum age requirement for Blue and 19 for Black
are blue belts really blue belts now days
Imagine trying to grab someones leg in a fight and just getting your nose turned flat against your face lol
I would imagine most of these guys would go double leg then choke said guy out. You’d be stupid to attack a leg lock in a street fight unless it’s there for the taking 100%
@@pigheartsmith2218 I have never seen breaking someones nose not work.
@@nealthompson8794 I don’t get what you’re trying to say ? You came to a bjj video just to criticize it? I swear you losers have nothing to do out here🤦♂️.
@@nealthompson8794 plenty of drunk hillbillies have kept a fight up after getting their nose broken.
might be a blue belt, but is obviusly highly experienced grappler. And probably a big talent.
blue belt
with 10 years of jiu jitsu
Love to see success in the up and coming, and love to see losers lose 😂 so this is just great to watch all around
I just realized Hywel said that Geo was "a multiple time ADCC Champion" but that's not true. Not trying to call him out I was just confused
It’s BA,one hell of a accomplishment.
Why do i feel like he showed up with $20 and a piece of paper that said "I am 16" written in green marker
I love how everyone thinks the belt or time dictates the level.
10:34 Are knees supposed to bend like that?
That’s a scary 16 year old!
This kid is another fan in me. Wow.
Whomever said old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill every time, lied.
except for when you look at war llhahahahahaha
looks like homie getting de ranked to purple 🤣🤣
You get a blue belt when you turn 16 after you reach the highest level as a kid. Cole is a black belt by all accounts. Goes to show belt color isn't everything.
That leg attack stuff is so nasty
I think in tradition and in certain organizations you have to have a certain amount of time at each belt level before you can be registered as a higher belt

You aren't supposed to even give a kid a blue belt until they turn 16
@@shredkaczynski8414 exactly, it’s about his age not his knowledge because he is so young.
its his age bro, ibjff wont even licence u as a blackbelt until ur 19 years old w atleast a year spent at brownbelt. its complete bs that leads to alot of sandbagging but whatever..cole is generation talent, it'll b scary how nice he'll b by time hes promoted to BB
I feel like gio just wanted to get out of there the whole match, all of his attacks were basically just to stop cole from attacking except for the kimura attempt. Such an interesting sport. Either the hunter or the prey
Garcia, s guard there and moviment!!
That is why Cole was able to take off the gi and enter this competition and do very well
Lol no its not
This is showing us martial arts totem poles are flexible .
