- This March Madness day began with 64 teams - 63 real ones and one from a made-up university named 'Gonzaga.' The biggest upset in this tournament so far might be the one Jimmy has created up in Washington State. He mentioned a theory the other night that he doesn't believe 'Gonzaga University' exists and that opened a real can of worms. The people of Spokane are angry. Not only are they tweeting Jimmy with their evidence, but they are also going to great lengths to convince us this school is real. They even made a video.

I did see a movie once called 'Gazongas University'.. maybe they mean that?
Ganzaga is where the Catholic Church hid all it's predatory priests from the west coast and Alaska. One of the buildings on campus served as a retirement home and legal sanctuary for priests accused of sexually assaulting children in west coast residential schools and parishes, right up until 2016. So yeah Gonzaga is synonymous with monsters, just not the kind you were thinking of.
Too bad the Zags didn't make the Final Four, would've been hilarious as hell.

Gonzaga is a very real University in Spoke-a-loo, Washington. I know because I went there for graduate/law school way back in 1974-5. Christine Gregoire was there at Gonzaga when I was there and she also is very real.

I live 15 minutes from Gonzaga and I feel like people don’t know it exists because it only has a few thousand students it’s not very big at all. For them to have a basketball program representing where I live is crazy to think about compared to powerhouses like Duke and Kentucky
College basketball programs don't represent "where you live". The teams are filled with players from all over the world, especially in cases like Gonzaga, Duke, and Kentucky. The only person to play for Gonzaga from Spokane in the last 20 years is John Stocktons son.
If Gonzaga wins the tourney, I bet he will visit the campus as a bit.

I was born and raised in Spokane and I've never heard of it. I put in the GPS coordinates and it just took me to a large field with a huge warehouse surrounded by razor wire and armed guards telling me to leave. But I did see basketball players coming in and out. Really weird
