The interviewer was asking Eric about how they were funding all the golf courses they were building since the market was “flat” at the moment. Eric said golf was popular in Russia and so they were being backed by Russians. That quote is real. By that time, US banks had stopped loaning money for Trump projects.

They were very open about their Russian connections back then, it wasn’t a secret. It was simply a fact concerning their businesses.
