Cape Cod Canal Fishing: Fall Stripers & Bluefish

The last weekend of October 2023 was a multi-species affair! My buddy Joe and I fished the East End of the Canal in search of late season stripers and we found them, plus a bonus - hard-fighting bluefish!

What a jigging setup for the 5 oz jigs that’s not a grand?

Good question - a number of people may answer this differently but I’d recommend for a rod a TFO 3-8oz or a Lamiglas Carbon Surf 3-8oz, either in the 11’ length. For a reel the Penn Slammer III 6500 pairs well with the TFO or a Shimano Saragosa 14000 would pair well with the Carbon Surf. Either combo should come in under $1K.
