Just an FYI to those just seeing this you can fit these exact same size tires stock. I have the exact same clearance running stock right now. They will only rub when extremely flexed and the tires turned to the max. Not something you would do under speed anyway. That being said, my OME 2.5" lift will be in next week.
With a new lift the 33's will clear the wheel well. I got a similar lift as yours. But now that I'm three years into it my suspension has settled a bit and now the tires rub (especially when I got new tires). As you can see in the video the space between the tire and the wheel well is very close. It doesn't take much settling in the suspension for the tire to start to rub. I will have to do the chop now.
Looks good man. I would plasti dip the side mirrors black too and get a TRD exhaust. TRD Exhaust is about $300-500 and it takes about an hour to do in your own drive way and would really change the exhaust note of the vehicle. I would also get a beefy rock sliders, protects your vehicle from other vehicle car doors. Keep it up!
Thanks man, I already ordered the N-fab side steps. Like you said, I'm gona paint the mirrors black at the same time I paint the roof black. I'll look into the TRD exhaust too 👍🏻💪
Looks like the last time you had your windshield replaced the two small body panels just aft of the top of your front fenders were not installed correctly? They are at an angle, I had some windshield guys screw this up on me back on 2008. I made them buy all new clips and reinstall them correctly. I love the FJs but those darn windshields are rock magnets.
Don't stop there. Now You need some rock rails , maybe a Bull Bar to protect that front bumper. I have all that plus some wheel well Bushwackers fender flares.Check out some pictures of those flares. That would really make those new tires look great.
Great video! I just picked up a 13 and plan to mimic your work. Thanks so much for doing the comparison shots. (That was really cool walk-around!) New subscriber from Alabama!
Also fluid film your car, I see some surface rust build up near your suspension components. Worst thing to do is to have it rust away after all the work you put into it
I AM SANDY I needle gunned mine (needle scaler) then painted it with 3 step from POR-15 with two coats followed by fluid film. It may be too cold to paint during this time, I would just fluid film it for this year. Do your research tho! Looking like a great rig already!
Just pick up 3-4 cans at Lowe’s and empty all on it. I’d go for fluid film every year than paint route as I’ve seen some horror videos where it went wrong trapping rust failed and spread under the paint I’d leave the fenders alone as it will save you from rock chips from tire spins
I have same color FJ with school ray 10 black matte bronze 17s .they look great .u should black out mirrors and door handles.i did mine with pkastidipp however now I see black mirrors and door handles on Amazon and they look great with great reviews.im gonna get them pretty soon and your FJ looks alitbetter with the Lyft and wheels brother
Definitely diggin' the lift and tire/wheel set up. Sorry I haven't been as active as i'd like to be, but this holiday season has kicked my butt... Anyway, Happy Holidays to you, and your family..
FJester ain’t lyin’. But maybe you don’t want to take it off-road...do what works for you, no judgment. But if you wanna set the beast free in her natural environment, you gonna rub-a-dub-dub.
I drive a 2010 FJ woth a 2.5" lift on 285'/70/17(33s) with no body mount chop. I wheel all the time here in Colorado, and I actually just got back from Moab. I don't have any issues with rubbing, on or off the road. I am going to chop the mounts, but I plan on putting 35s on it.
@@punk303 What tire did you go with? And what type of lift did you do? I am looking to get 33s and just got the daystar 2.5 inch leveling kit with 1 inch in the back, and am curious if I will rub. I wheel quite a bit in utah
Hi,I don't see anything special in your setup to avoid BMC, perhaps your tires are smaller? In theory they are 32.7. or your move yours LCM forward? Cheers
Giancarlo Rotta I’m not sure what it is , but something in the combination is making it work. I’ve seen the exact set up on another FJ and asked him- that’s how I came up with this combination- it worked for him and me. They are 32.7 inch.

I AM SANDY good to hear! Nitto is very much on the radar- already knew they made pretty badass looking tires, so nice that they perform as such too haha
Mine has more lights and a snorkel and the tires are only 35” nitto grapplers 12 ply i do like the ride with the grapplers but lesson learned rotate tires every oil change or they will get noisey
Just lifted my FJ 3”s & put fender flares & inch & a half spacers on it! Looking good!!
how much did it cost to grt it lifted??
Spacers don't do your wheel bearing any good but to each their own.
Nice..that rust on the chassis though is a whole new level
not for Ford F-series truck owners...

I run on 35s, 3 inch front and 2.5 back, it looks tough without rub. I recommend to you
I ran 285/70/R17s for years. I changed to 285/75/R17 and I had to do the body mount chop. The 75 aspect ratio tire is almost an inch taller!
Dale Durham what a difference 1 inch can do ! That’s what she said 😜
Was there any difference in torque going from 33’s to 34’s?
That rotating before and after was very awesome. Thank you!

I don’t know where y’all are all from but in Canada that much rust is pretty good lol

Great inside look at this great setup. Thanks
Fantastic upgrade! Well done.
No shit this is where I got my FJ lifted. Small world. Maybe I'll see you around.
Corey Hughes haha small world. Problem is every time I go there I come back with an empty wallet...
@@HOLYSHIFT I have that same problem

In the rear suspension system, do they also put a spacer over the springs? or just the main shocks absorbers increase those 2.5 inches ?
Bro, the rust!

Thanks buddy- I love that FJ. Keep it ! I had to sell mine because of COVID... big mistake
The rust buddy get me nervious

Yeah I noticed that too. Gona figure out what to with the rust...

@@chupaek672 thanks man, will do that
LMAO
I'm running nitto 33 12.50 17
Those will rub like crazy off-road! Fine driving to the mall though 👍
Awe, you an unhappy little boy?
33/12.5/20 will fit just fine stock at least in mine.
And 285/70 fits perfect also
Rims look good i like the fact they dont stick out
Merry christmas sandy
And happy new year!!!
Thank you, same to you Joe, have a great new year
Once you take that off road and the front wheel goes up into the wheel well, then you will get a rub. If you don't take if off road you will be fine.
Keith Parker I did go off road - but not hard aggressive articulations- so you may be right. 👍🏻
Love the FJ. That Jeep at the end looked ridiculous. Did you leave a duck?
Turnout legit!
It’s not a lift, right? You just leveled it by raising the front with the adjustable 5100s?

Hey happy holidays and have a great new year! Enjoy your life, family... Don't worry about you UA-cam haha...
Have you tested this offroad? That's when the rubbing starts.
I just installed 275/70R/17 Wildpeak atw3 , it rubs at full lock . I am thinking about it lifting it or doing the BMC
Nice car
Nice!! Do you still have this FJ?
I don't unfortunately I had to sell it during COVID when I was unemployed for 15 months...
No shit is right been there few times yrs ago do they still have the truck show in October
Wheel specs? Backspace and offset numbers please.
thats gonna rub when/if you hit any off road trails
You're Probably right... Then I'll chop.. Lol

My first thought too Uncle Fjester....too close for comfort

Can the oem springs be used with those bilsteins?
Hi. Yeah definitely! I kept my original stock springs and mounted the bilsteins through them.
Looks awesome!!👊What was your total expense?
Excuse the question...Am a new enthusiast and trying to gather info for my 2007 fj .
Wow I don’t really remember the exact number but I think it was a total close to 3500-4000 $ (parts, wheels, tires and labor)
Any rubbing at full flex?
None
Nice FJ! What gear are you running? If you are running stock gear, is there a huge amount power lost?
Stock and can't really feel a difference
Did you have to adjust transmission and torque converter for this?
Arya viejo hi- No . No changes to transmission at all! Just wheels and shocks

You Should have gotten the tk2 bf Goodrich way much better FYI
Did you change out the spare to the 33’s , if so does the stock cover fit?
The spare tire cover is super tight, definitely won’t fit on anything larger than stock
How are you liking these nittos? I have the bfg KO2s rn (like everyone else lmao) but I always like hearing about other options for next round
Man, I love them! Quite, smooth, and great looking. Didn't try them rock climbing yet though!
I AM SANDY good to hear! Nitto is very much on the radar- already knew they made pretty badass looking tires, so nice that they perform as such too haha
When i see another FJ i get alot of rubbing

Gerry Lee will do rotations thanks
Just curious if you have put it to the test over any significant bumps and sharp turns to see if you truly are not rubbimg those tires?
Truth me told - not really!
how about gear ratio?
Stock--never changed!
Is that the actual link you used for the lift? It says it’s for Tacoma’s ? Going to copy your setup lol
As you've seen in the video all was done by a pro shop so I trust them, besides many parts are shared with the Tacoma. Go for it! Lift it.. Haha
What spring upgrades did you do to the rear? Or did you keep the height of the rear stock?
Rear springs were not changed and there was no increase in lift.
@@HOLYSHIFT thanks for the quick response. Did you go top clip in the front on the 5100s?
@@shrednow yes I went the highest lift in front - I think it's 2.5 inch. Send pics when you're done 💪🏻👌🏼
The rust is bad, it rust from the inside out on the box frame, try using some Rust Mort to kill the rust.
That rust looks scary
Spray that rust dude. 😮
just bought a 2014 with aftermarket 33’s and 22 inch wheels i hate them
Fat Since 80’ too sounds like the rims are really big and very thin looking tires...
I AM SANDY Actually they are 20 in not 22 currently looking for some oem rims, great fj by the way
I have 34's on mine..
They also dropped your frame rust recall like the rest of us
serious rust problems there
Not really. It's just surface rust.. 💪🏻

Ok you see
My comment broo
I’m trying to get my dad to buy a 4Runner so he can give me his FJ Cruiser lol.
Scott Watkins good luck with that haha 😜
Dude, hit the frame with some surface shield. You got a rusty ass rig homie
What’s your gas mileage now? Lol
Nope!
Yes
