Silent Hill got me through really hard times as a kid/teenager. It's my favorite game series ever because of how it doesn't shy away from sensitive themes, has amazingly detailed symbolism and an uncanny ability to make sadness beautiful. When I'm reminded of it now though, I just get sad bc of how it's been treated. It deserves more than the slow, painful death it's getting.
RainofBrassPetals me too, didn't even know the game but a friend showed me it and I got it and played for years until I beat it once by myself, bad ending...then went back and got all the endings

Silent Hill fan here since 2000. The first 3 games are among the best horror games ever made, and they've all earned their place in my gamer heart. The Room was pretty damn good to. Not exactly great, but is still highly enjoyable and memorable (especially the soundtrack). As the years went on, the quality of the series did in fact decrease. SH Homecoming was probably my least favorite, though it did sort of grow on me within the same year it was released. I actually really liked Downpour, and think it's underrated. Yes, same. It will always be alive in my heart. My fave series of all time. It influenced me tremendously. Konami could revive it if they really wanted to.
Same here. I don't think Konami want to revive it, I think sadly they want it to stay gone. Really... someone just has to do now the same thing that the first game did. And that's: don't copy what's already there that you love, instead: make a new thing of your own, from your own idea of how you'd do that.
I've only played Origins, and that was insane for me to get through. Made me scared of mirrors for years back then... Silent Hill always has the best soundtracks for their games too.
The only actual Silent Hill game I could play after 3 was Downpour, because at least it was playable, and it had certain features that the earlier games had that Origins and Homecoming tried to emulate and failed horribly at. I've been trying to get into shattered Memories, but most of the versions of the game are horrible buggy versions, and I remember hearing that the Wii version is superior, and I lost my Wii a long time ago. I have an emulator, but for accuracy I need to buy a Wiimote and an IR sensor for the emulator.
Silent Hill is my absolute favorite series of all time, and I'm so glad one of my favorite UA-camrs (you, obvies) covered it. I've got a broken foot and am bedridden right now, so this really perked me up to see this video posted. :)
P.T. definitely influenced RE7 to release similar "teaser-demo" type of thing to bait people. But nobody even knew how SHs would have looked if actually released (with norman reedus as a protagonist LAMAO)
considering RE7 came out a few years ago I can see capcom going oh shit PT made a wave lets ride that wave item placements gives that away PT hid items in plain view simular to resident evil 7 but some were hidden in plain sight if you examined items closer which is something i could seen silent hills doing
You know you are the best videogame creator when a demo you made sets the bar for a ton of up coming games and that same demo is considered a masterpiece.
Oddly enough, I've never played the series myself for any appreciable length of time. I ALWAYS chickened out. I could never go past the first 20 minutes or so. But I always loved the atmosphere, the story, the look and everything connected to it. I would listen to the albums of each almost every night and still do here and there for years now. I'm really happy you made this video to sum up the series.
I love how Silent Hill started as a "competitor" to Resident Evil and then became the reason Resi became such a different and brilliant game. if that makes sense :)
One of the amazing things about this series of games is the music. The music throughout all of it is just amazing. I still find myself today going back to it, when I want something that is atmospheric.
The Room was and still is to this day my absolute favorite. It's so underrated. It's such a good game. This series really sparked my interest in survival horror games and I'm still so horribly disappointed that Kojima didn't fully get the chance to bring this series back to life. The games that followed The Room were so underwhelming. The only one I own is Homecoming, which I think gets more flack than it should, but is still not anywhere near the original 4. P.T. gave me a lot of hope. Maybe this series can be revived one day with success like RE:7.
Silent Hill 2 will forever be my favourite game of all time, the characters, story and setting were on a different level from anything I have played before or after
I am so sad you didn't talked about shattered memories. It was one of my favorite silent hill game. The atmosphere is more eerie because of the ice effects and the game itself tricks you until you give up. Nevertheless this video is a 10/10
I'm still super sad about PT. Every time i think about the situation, it just seriously bums me out. Silent Hill had a shot at redemption and it was a really good one too ... then it all went down the drain 😔
Ahhhh, I love this video!!! I love Silent Hill and everything it involves. Thank you so much for this video. Silent Hill brings to light issues that are not only hard to talk about but also to deal with. I really enjoy how they represent the issues as "monsters" or "demons" because it shows others how difficult it really is to deal with them.
Silent hill 2 is my most favorite thing. The series and music are forever dear to me and have a lot to do with my personality. Everyone close to me knows this . Great video !
Very insightful look into the Silent Hill series, I remember in the mid to late 00’s I discovered Silent Hill 2 and 3 through playthroughs and became obsessed with it much later I got the opportunity to try out the first 4 games and it was truly something special. Never will forget how haunting, beautiful and unsettling those games were and it’s nice to see that much later on others remember it too.
Gargoyle Named Lexington that's pretty much konami in a nutshell 'have a beloved series and die a little when instead of a sequel or remake its a slot machine'
I'd say Konami should sell it to sony, then sony can give it to the guys who made Forbidden Siren. while yeah it'd probably mean exclusivity, but it'd be some of the original team silent people making the game.
I am crying so much. The Silent Hill franchise has always been deeply close to my heart. Your covering of this series makes me so incredibly happy! You used to be an amazing inspiration for me and this warms my heart so much. There are so many tears on my cheeks
Thanks for getting it right. I played all the games when they first came out. Since Silent Hill 2 was a different story entirely from SH1, there was no reason to believe that Silent Hill 3 was anything but a new story as well. That reveal way into the game is still my favorite moment in the series.
When I turned 11 I asked Metal Gear Solid for my birthday, which had just released. I got the game, and included with it was the demo disc for Silent Hill. Knowing MGS was a long cinematic game I put it aside for when all my birthday friends and family left so instead I threw in the Silent Hill demo knowing absolutely nothing about it. My aunt watched in horror as I walked into the alley with a bloodstained wheelchair and walls and floors covered with blood. She called my mom and the moment she walked in was right when I got to the decaying corpse of the man crucified in barbed wire. About 30 seconds later I was standing in the kitchen with my mom yelling to me to break the disc in half and throw it in the trash lol
Silent hill 4 is my first silent hill game I remember running out the room from the apartment ghost intro and leaving it on the whole night after being afraid to turn off my ps2
Silent hills would've been the greatest horror game of all time in my opinion. All the theories surrounding multiverses and what not. Given the cast it had behind it. I'm still sad over it to this day.
What I really love about the game is the detail of symbolism. Hell, they went to such a little detail to make a game. That's what I praise. You can see almost every symbol in every scene. Even the enemies are symbols of the condition the protagonist' psyche. 🤔 I am currently playing SH3. Wish me luck guys... 😂 This game is really good so far
Silent Hill is my all time favorite. Thank you for doing this and filling the video with so many nostalgic moments. I’ve only seen a few of your videos so far but I noticed your references to silent hill and over all similar ambience. I appreciate the thought and personal recreations. Hope to see many more videos.
Great video about a game I loved when growing up. I have Silent Hill 4 and I started it once, but then something came up where I didn't finish it. This video makes me want to go back and play it. Thanks! I also remember when they announced PT. I believe it was at E3, and it was just one sentence saying that it was in the Playstation store. I use to have this game, until I got the Playstation Pro, and wasn't able to transfer the game to the HDD. What a sad day that was for me.
I remember my first time through SH2. I was in a shitty apt in the middle of nowhere - Montana. I was like thirteen and only had my tube tv - a ps2 - SH2, GTA:SA and Battlefront 2. I finally beat the game after playing it for months. I would stay up until the sun came back up. The acoustic rendition of Laura's theme is still playing in my head. I was so bored at the time but, now I look back at a simpler time of my life and enjoy the memories. Thank you for reminding me and Awesome video!
MandyYDG nah, RE7 doesn't even compared with earlier installments of Silent Hill series. the ambience, vibe and overall experience resembles the true terror of unknown things that could've haunt you in a different way, whilst RE series had always focused on heavy action looting gameplay mechanics since their 3rd installments. plotwise, RE2 and RE4 is the only thing that i am affectionally rooting. other than that, Resident Evil is just Michael-Bay-zombie-apocalypse-esque video game.
JPalm27 i didnt even talked about the remake, brah. remake is just another old installment with good graphics plastered all over it and that's it. i've stated before that RE was good until the 4th installment, after that it's loosely lose their charm. i've stated too that you are entitled to your argument and so am i, im not interferring your personal preference here. and no, im not mistaken the main title with the movies here.
This was fresh. Your voice, the way you script your videos and present them is nothing short of brilliant. No wonder why I stop whatever I'm doing every time I get a notification. Thank you!
I've been playing the Silent Hill since I was a kid, and the first four were legendary! Four was the first (and personal favorite) one I ever played. Homecoming And Shattered Memories were both good and Origins was definitely scary as a kid. However...Downpour and everything after that (such as the DS and Iphone games) was a very heart breaking mistake. I personally don't even count them as part of the series. Then PT was amazing that was short lived, it's a shame we did not see that.
Changed up quite a bit with this one.

Same here. I don't think Konami want to revive it, I think sadly they want it to stay gone. Really... someone just has to do now the same thing that the first game did. And that's: don't copy what's already there that you love, instead: make a new thing of your own, from your own idea of how you'd do that.
Oh my god!!! That PlayStation 2 intro brings back so many memories!!!!! 😍😍😍😍
I've only played Origins, and that was insane for me to get through. Made me scared of mirrors for years back then... Silent Hill always has the best soundtracks for their games too.
I might talk about Origins again more in depth. I loved it!
Please do.
You definitely owe it to yourself to play 1-3. I personally loved 4 as well, but a lot of people don't, so.
I'm not sure that P.T. influenced RE7 because it was being developed way before P.T. But the two became quite successful in their own right.
P.T. definitely influenced RE7 to release similar "teaser-demo" type of thing to bait people.
I watched the entire play through for the P. T. DEMO... I have to agree its frigging amazing. What a utter travesty that it wasn't realised.
We really need a new Team Silent, but.........
KONAMI.
You know you are the best videogame creator when a demo you made sets the bar for a ton of up coming games and that same demo is considered a masterpiece.
Was fully expecting a clip of Tommy Wiseau to pop up after you said "The Room".
Nevertheless this video is a 10/10
I've always loved how you've used some of my fave silent hill ambience tracks in a lot of your videos. I recognize them instantly!
one does not simply
Escape from silent hill.
I wish I was old enough to experience silent hills. All I did was play lego games and red factions over and over on my PS2.
4:03 - 4:18 hold up hold up....gimme a minute....i need to get some tissues.
Just hearing the old ps1 and ps2 starting brought back so many memories *-*
Do RE through the years! This was awesome man. Love your vids
I'm still super sad about PT. Every time i think about the situation, it just seriously bums me out.
Silent Hill had a shot at redemption and it was a really good one too ... then it all went down the drain 😔
When you come to think the original three games are still amazing games and terrifying even when you finished them multiple times, it's insane!
And now we got a Silent Hill DLC on Dead by Daylight
Silent hill 2 is my most favorite thing. The series and music are forever dear to me and have a lot to do with my personality. Everyone close to me knows this . Great video !
The nostalgia is real in this vid! I love it!
Still waiting for the inevitable silent hill HD remaster slot machine.
thefiregodzapp Silent Hill 2 has one.
I died inside when I found out about it.
Gargoyle Named Lexington that's pretty much konami in a nutshell 'have a beloved series and die a little when instead of a sequel or remake its a slot machine'
I really can't get enough of this video! I've seen it about five times now. It's just really good!
I swear to god, one day, Silent Hill will flourish again with massive hit all over the world everyone will be just SHOOKT to WIGGED AF
I've always loved this game. I got freaked out when I learned I live only like an hour away from the town (They say) it's based on.
Are you really? That’s pretty sweet. I feel like I wouldn’t be able to resist exploring it all the time 😂
Nightmare Expo Like a total of 10 people still live there
Lord Poppy Centralia, PA
Kirsanov Sergey If that's a question, yes. If it's a statement, I know what it's called.
Lord Poppy it was a statement. SH is not entirely based in Centralia though. Since SH is not a coal mining town
This is the best video I've seen summarizing the series. Great job!
The room’s soundtrack is so good man
Ive been watching your videos for most of the past year now and this is hands down one of my fav videos.
Your editing is really good! Great video!
Finally a SH retrospective which Homecoming isn't trash talked to death.
Silent Hill!
I guess someone involved with Knocked loose likes P.T. enough to put it in The Walls (great song btw)
I'm still sad over it to this day.
or it could have been an overrated overexamined horror game that was great.
Chills went through me when the ps2 intro played
I cannot put into words how much I love your context, keep it up!
What I really love about the game is the detail of symbolism. Hell, they went to such a little detail to make a game. That's what I praise. You can see almost every symbol in every scene. Even the enemies are symbols of the condition the protagonist' psyche. 🤔
I am currently playing SH3. Wish me luck guys... 😂
This game is really good so far
Silent Hill is my all time favorite. Thank you for doing this and filling the video with so many nostalgic moments. I’ve only seen a few of your videos so far but I noticed your references to silent hill and over all similar ambience. I appreciate the thought and personal recreations. Hope to see many more videos.
This is a really good additon to this channel
Glad you enjoyed it :)
A Nightmare Expo video about Silent Hill? Awesome!
How could I forget about my favorite horror game series? :)
Just seeing the thumbnail made chills go down my spine! ;) Great video, Thank You! :)
I have a soft spot for Silent Hill, so much that I didn’t mind downpour at all. I just love the world and atmosphere of Silent Hill.
Yes! Not to mention the soundtrack, it was the best out of all the silent hills especially the good ending + theme
I'm sad I've never played these Silent Hill games.
U missed out
I really wish they'd stayed with Silent Hills but RE7 is sooooo good. I'd love an RE through the years
MandyYDG nah, RE7 doesn't even compared with earlier installments of Silent Hill series. the ambience, vibe and overall experience resembles the true terror of unknown things that could've haunt you in a different way, whilst RE series had always focused on heavy action looting gameplay mechanics since their 3rd installments. plotwise, RE2 and RE4 is the only thing that i am affectionally rooting. other than that, Resident Evil is just Michael-Bay-zombie-apocalypse-esque video game.
Galactic Slave Trader That's what's so special about it and why it's always been superior to Silent Hill.
JPalm27 if your statement based on personal preferences, then sure m8. to each to their own.
Galactic Slave Trader I think you're getting the games confused with the movies. Re remake is nowhere near a Michael Bay zombie apocalypse videogame.
Oh, the memories. I don't know if I'm just tired but I actually teared up towards the end of this video...
Well done.
The P.T. demo may be coming back soon.
it came back as death stranding...
This was fresh. Your voice, the way you script your videos and present them is nothing short of brilliant. No wonder why I stop whatever I'm doing every time I get a notification.
Thank you!
I love This game.
There's a Half-Life 2 mod called Silent Hill: Alchemilla. It's amazing!
Nice video
My very first job my junior year in high school, with my very 1st paycheck I bought a PS2 with NBA Live 2004 and Silent Hill 3. Good times 😢
“Some how if u haven’t played silent hill 2” bro you’d be surprised
I've been playing the Silent Hill since I was a kid, and the first four were legendary! Four was the first (and personal favorite) one I ever played. Homecoming And Shattered Memories were both good and Origins was definitely scary as a kid. However...Downpour and everything after that (such as the DS and Iphone games) was a very heart breaking mistake. I personally don't even count them as part of the series. Then PT was amazing that was short lived, it's a shame we did not see that.
I loved horror games in general and silent Hill is one of my favorite
It needs to come back :(
