One thing I love about rally is that you can feel you've accomplished something just by finishing in one piece (even if it's only in games/sims for me). My times aren't amazing, but a stage is a microcosm of life: ups, downs, I could've taken that part better, I could have done worse on the others. And, like a lifetime, it goes by so quickly.
Dang, wasn't expecting that last bit. That is an accurate analogy I suppose (and taking part in a rally, even if it's like life, can equally also quickly take it). That is a good one. Life isn't the same without a bit of risk and exhilaration. I bet this is one of the few sports (and thing in general) that can show you that exact beauty in its raw form. Man's machines, intellect, instinct, courage, and commitment against a clear goal and whatever nature can throw at us. A more accessible version of conquering a difficult challenge, without losing any respect.
@@midgetman4206 Commitment is the key. You get to a point where you are good enough to make that sick turn and you need to believe in your skill and commit and not think. I am just getting those moments and even in a sim it feels like LIVING.
Racing is a constant reminder to me that life is not fair. Sometimes you just get caught, sometimes people have a better car than you, sometimes people are just better than you and you just gotta put your head down and make the best of the situation you have
I feel this is the place to mention this. My late 80s early 90s brethren. In France, there is a museum called Manoir d'Automobile. Most of the exhibits are rally cars, F1 cars and road cars from this era. The booklet is from the 90s. They never updated it. It still has the price in Francs on the cover. It is a time capsule of exactly this period of time. Old tube TVs with crackly screen playing old footage of Le Mans 24H and French Rally. It is a gem of a place. And listening to this kind of music whilst there is the only way you could improve it.
@@valen2006 Not a great movie. Though the documentary about Michele Mouton, Queen of Speed from 2021, was pretty good. And she was one of the best drivers in Group B. Crazy to think that to this day she is the only woman to win a full WRC event. Still holds the records for top championship placements by a woman, even came second in the '82 overall championship. Hell, she's basically the only woman to even make as a full time driver in the WRC, period. Had the correct combination of insane driving skills and a rich family with a racing history and background. She won Le Man in '75, the German RC in '86, and if Walter Rohrl hadn't beaten her '85 record in '88 she'd still hold the record for fastest time up Pikes Peak back when it was all dirt with no paved road. Her run in '85 broke the '83 record by a whole 13 seconds. She was just that good. There's been other ladies who have raced in WRC, but no one has even come close to Mouton. Natalie Barratt is the only other driver that's even anywhere near her and she never managed a single podium with her best season result being 21st.
What I love about rally motorsport is not competition between drivers, teams nor fighting for better time. Its the feeling of being connected with everything starting from your car ending on the road. Its a fight with your doubts, with your weaknesses and yourself. Its pure joy from accomplishing something, gratification for improving yourself and trying to be better, trying more.I think in the end of the day, that's all that matters for true ace drivers and I hope one day I'll join them . . .
high speed through narrow countryside gravel roads in a rhythmic driving style does indeed go very well with the consistency of synthwave, one song, one stage
So... I was never a super fan of synthwave, it was nice, put it on in the background, but it never had me jamming out to it. These tracks actually got me, so thanks for introducing me to some synthwave I like
GROUP B was a race competition where you only need a driver, and a car. That's it. The rest is up to you. But the "rest:" super tuned engines, ABS, lightweight chassis, maxed aerodynamics, turbo, roll cage, bucket seat, plastic rear body, mid-rear engine, wishbone suspension, spare wheel inside front trunk, bigger oil tank. It was really a rocket on wheels.
This is probably one of the greatest mixes I've ever listened to on UA-cam This is perfect subscribed it's a rainy Sunday I'm driving down the highway and it's just amazing

This song was intended to showcase a lot of synthwave artist and had an intended vibe/emotion I was chasing. Art of rally does have a beautiful soundtrack though, tbh I’m not even sure if it was out when I made this.
I’m afraid not as I don’t have a Spotify myself. I should probably set one up. A music app I used called Musi works off UA-cam but you can be out of the app and still listen.
The Car is the Piano, The Gravel is the Melody, Speed is the Music, The Rally is the Art.
