Hi there Docs! I'm a new subscriber and I try to do all things possible too help my health. I've been diagnosed with alot of health issues and had to 3 more yrs. of retirement but was disabled. I was going to a very good neurologist and followed her closely on everything but have moved to another state so have to start over with another neurologist. Well getting to the Vitamin D3 I take 1,000IU when I have breakfast and again at dinner. I also take Calcium Citrate 600mg 2 times with the D3. Along with B 100mg 1 time & B12 1000 mg. I notice if I don't take my vitamins I'm very very sluggish especially cold winter months I suffer. I try to move as much & eat healthy. It's been very hard when you've got health issues. Advice to people either listening to these great Doctors or reading this. Vitamin D3 is very important. Don't put it off. Today our vitamins have cost us more but it is important to your health. Especially when you're getting older. Stay healthy & God Bless!🩺
💊I just learned I am very low on D. This information explains a lot of my pain. Due to the pandemic I have been outside very little in over 2 years and so am not getting D from the ☀️. Thank you for another awsome educational video. 🌸🌼🌻

Love this now updated even more format. Just and fyi when you shows are ending and UA-cam puts up a couple of your other shows to watch they are positioned over your faces and your still talking. In the old format they were off to the side at the top.

I've read that if you take vitamin D that you should also take K2 as D facilitates calcium uptake(hence good for bones). However, it's suspected that can contribute to calcification of arteries. K2, I've read, counteracts that undesired calcification. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
My doctor tested my vitamin D level and it was 24. Normal range is 30-100. Had me on 10000IU of vitamin D3 for 6 months. Next test my vitamin D was 53. Now I take 5000IU everyday. I also take 100 micrograms (not milligrams) of vitamin K-2 (MK-7). That was to aid in preventing a buildup of calcium in the blood and transfer it to bones. Of course, talk to your doctor first.
On the advice of my asthma/allergist I take 5000iu, per day, always with a meal. I got Covid in January and had nothing more than a bad cold for about 5 days despite having life-long, moderate asthma.

A few years ago I was in general not feeling well. I was in my late 50s and I was just feeling old, tired, achy and somewhat depressed. I took good care of myself and worked out but nothing seemed to help. I went to my doctor and he said My vitamin D was low. I started taking vitamin D and like magic I started feeling better. I live outside NYC and he said 70 percent of his patients test low for D for the reasons you have covered. Since then I have also changed my diet and I eat a much more nutritiously dense diet. I still take my vitamin D. Very good advice thanks for spreading the word.
Thanks so much for your informative videos. I take 2000 IU if D3 so I was glad to see I’m on track with that. Also, you mentioned B12 - please talk about that sometime as I’m interested in learning your thoughts on that.
Many, many people think it's important to wear sunscreen when they go out in the sunshine. I think that's seriously misguided. I want to suggest an alternative: Get out and get some sunshine almost every day. Your skin will darken to the extent needed to protect itself against damage. The key is to be consistent. If you work inside all day, maybe you can go for a walk outside at lunch. Think of the possibilities, and work out what's most feasible for you. I have lingering doubts about whether a vitamin D pill can fully compensate for a lack of sunshine.
Hi Ronald unfortunately due to the risk of skin cancer one has to be very careful but your point is well taken. Hard to do in climates like ours in. Canada during the winter
Thanks Docs great video thanks it was very interesting and informative. You two are great and have such interesting videos. You are fun to watch and thank you for all your research..
Your videos are always so informative and your sense of humor is wonderful. I'm one of those people slow to catch up with technology. You could say I came into the 21st century kicking and screaming. 😉 Sure I had a cellphone but I didn't actually get a smartphone until 2 years ago. While learning how to use the new phone, I discovered UA-cam. One day I ran across your videos and started watching. I've had a scope on one knee years ago but that wasn't necessarily the reason I started watching. I've also worked in the medical field and your videos just struck my interest. Basically I was introduced to you when I discovered UA-cam. Your videos were so intriguing and humorous that I ended up binge watching them. My brother just found out that he may need hip surgery and I thought of you. So I've sent him several links to your videos and told him how great you explain things in such a helpful way. I also mentioned your sense of humor and how you have reenforced the meaning of "Laughter is the best medicine". You take away a lot of fear that people have when approaching a medical problem. I commend you on your approach to explaining medical issues and I appreciate the humor you add to the videos. You're not only helpful with the information you provide but the humor makes you so relatable. Congratulations on reaching 100,000 subscribers, a recognition you well deserve! I find your videos very entertaining while providing valuable information. If I ever get to visit Canada again, I'll be sure to look you up. 😉 I'm sure you guys are a hoot in the OR. 😋 Thanks for all you do for this channel and I applaud your continued success! 🤗
I am new to your channel. There are several things I really like and want to comment on: the new intro is really great; appreciate the informative topics; enjoy the expert guests and last but not least really like the doctors and there sense of humor and knowledge and professionalism of the topics presented. Would you consider doing a taping of your professional background and maybe share some personal information. I would also enjoy hearing about diabetes, insulin use and anxiety. Thanks.
Hi Pamela. Thank you for taking the time to comment. So glad you like our channel. We are toying with including more about our families lives and backgrounds. Those topics will certainly be added to the list. Thanks for watching and subscribing
I don't know how it is in Canada, but here in the U.P. of Michigan not only are the days very short in the winter but I thinnk we average about 3 days of sun between December and May. My vitamin D levels are in range but I take high doses in winter because of this to keep them up. Another great video
Great video with lots of good information. I take supplements as part of my health regimen and it’s good to hear you guys talk about the benefits of adding them in. Take care of yourself and thanks for keeping us informed!
My hand arthritis has seriously diminished since taking D3 supplements. Magnesium has rid me of restless leg syndrome. I’m also using sub-lingual B12, turmeric and now that Circadin is over-the counter, I’m finally getting full and refreshing sleep. I’m 63 and used to be physically formidable but the years and a hard lifestyle had taken their toll. I had gone to the doctor every time I felt poorly since my late 40’s but to no real effect. I know we are cautioned against self-medication but I’ve made myself aware of potential hazards and introduce these supplements one at a time and monitor results. These really have been life-changing. And yes, I’ve heard all the “ well you should do all this by applying proper dietary measures!” Some of us don’t want to spend all our available time assessing macro-nutrients, shopping and preparing this stuff. Laying off the booze and bread has a lot going for it too. So, for me it’s B12, D, and good quality sleep.
Great you guys, but can you include Zinc in your next video, it's not talked about very often but has a huge benefit to health, cheers for the video👍👍👍😇😇👍👍
Excellent video on Vitamin D. Some vitamins & minerals should not be taken together as they may reduce the level of absorption by the body(an idea for a future video?). Also how about videos on taking Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, fish oil. And what FORM to take. For example, Magnesium glycinate, oxide, etc. Keep those great videos coming.
I learn a lot from your videos and I enjoy watching them except for one thing and that one thing is the background music. I find it somewhat distracting, especially that my hearing is not so good. Other than that, keep up the good work; I'm always looking forward to your next video.
Great video about vitamin D. I learned a lot of things that I didn't know before I watched this. I take this vitamin but only recently at the suggestion of my doctor. Thanks, guys! I really appreciate you and your videos! Cheers! from Ontario 🇨🇦
Do you have to couple Vitamin D with Calcium for absorption?? Have you guys gotten your plaque from You Tube yet for hitting the one hundred followers mark???! You both deserve it for your unselfish work. Good health to you and your families.
Food is medicine and if we eat well, we can get a lot of benefits from it. We need to pay more attention to our health now because as you always say, 'WE ARE IN CHARGE OF OUR OWN HEALTH".
This was great and when I had breast cancer, the oncologist told me low Vitamin D is associated with breast cancer. My adult daughters’ doctors orders Vitamin D as part of their regular labs. The problem is insurance companies won’t pay for Vitamin D tests.
I’ve been taking Omeprazole for about 15 years and started getting musculoskeletal pain and osteoarthritis in several joints over the last four years. Searching for answers, I’ve found some evidence online that suggests this drug can cause arthralgia and connective tissue disorders. My GP practice has just recommended vitamin d3 and k2 supplementation - is this likely to reduce my symptoms?
Thanks for lots of great info! Please consider following up with more information on how vitamin K2 -- not vitamin K -- ensures that increased serum calcium levels arising from vitamin D supplementation are better handled, by directing calcium to the bones/teeth, rather than to the kidneys (kidney stones) & arteries (atherosclerosis) -- or correct me, if I'm mistaken! Assuming I'm not, I believe that vitamins D & K2 should always be supplemented together.

Informative AND funny,... ya gotta like these guys. btw... thanks for talking me through my first kidney stone. I didn't know sht except that I was experiencing extreme pain. It really helped me to get things mentally under control having reviewed your video. Without that video I really felt vulnerable, but the video helped me understand it. I mean the doctor at the hospital was "right", but they are very quick and busy, so you still feel a bit like maybe it's stomache cancer and a pinched nerve in your back, maybe your just constipated, etc. etc. Lots of maybe's still floating around in my head, but as soon as I saw your video I realized... Yep, that's exactly what's happening. I still didn't believe something so painful could be work it's way out in a few days... honestly... I went back to the hospital a 2nd time the next day asking them to just yak it out it hurt so bad, but I'm so glad they gave me another pain killer and asked to give it a couple days cause the extraction isn't without risks and discomfort also, Thank goodness I listened... cause.... after a couple days there was a little pressure pulse in the hose then a little "tink" on the porcelaine. ...Never been happier,... but YES... your video really helped me mentally to get through those two days and used the pain meds more confidently.
I tried taking multi-vitamins on 2 different occasions years apart and each time I got upset stomach shortly afterwards. I took them on a full stomach.
I have three hart stent’s and a Remaining right coronary blockage of 60% why don’t they put a stent there I suspect it has more to do with insurance than anything else
Vitamin D has been used (unknowingly) to treat infections such as tuberculosis before the advent of effective antibiotics. Tuberculosis patients were sent to sanatoriums where treatment included exposure to sunlight which was thought to directly kill the tuberculosis.

Thanks Docs. I spoke to my family doctor that I’ve been taking vitamin D3 2000 IU daily and one B 12 daily for 3+ years and he gave me that look of why. 😂 I still take it.
I’m confused about the issue of taking Vitamin D with other vitamins to enhance absorption. I’ve heard folks taking it with a vitamin C supplement. Saw the vitamin K comment on here. I do take a multivitamin but it sounds like those just don’t cut it for some vitamins - mine only has 400 IU of vitamin D. I did get some vitamin D this morning - a beautiful sunny day in San Diego at a refreshing 50 degrees Fahrenheit for a morning walk! Love you guys! You are great at conveying enough information in a way that I start looking more closely myself at whatever topic you’re covering. But wow! Universal agreement on any health issue is a purple unicorn on the internet.
Hi Laura. Thanks for the feedback. We love Ssn Diego! So yes 400 is often not enough and vitamin D is most often taken with K2. And yes everyone is an expert on the internet without providing support for what they spout. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Intelligent video...cool beans! I am and always have been very active female. But also low on VD since hitting my 60s. At 71 I became very tired and moody again. Was re minded about D and yep...fatigue, crying and brain fog went away!
WOW! Such a super informative Video! Many thanks for sharing your invaluable knowledge. Just subscribed to your awesome channel. Greetings from Austria.
I had to stop Calcitriol (Vit D given after total thyroidectomy) and Calcium supplements. Hospitalized for hypercalcemia a week after surgery. Not fun. Seemingly harmless vitamins/minerals are nothing to screw around with.
I wouldn't want to take vitamin D and calcium together, especially at higher doses. The vitamin D increases calcium absorption on its own and can result in calcification of the arteries. I'd be taking vitamin K2 with D instead. This helps move calcium to the bones where it's needed.
I watched your vitamin D video with interest. I am 70, in great health and have an awesome immune system. All through covid, I have taken vitamin D and have not contracted covid, despite working with the public. Recently, I did annual blood work and my D level was 124 - way to high - and my Ca level was a bit over the high range. It is a fact that too much of a good thing (D) can have negative effects as way high Ca is not good, mainly, I think, for the heart. Just a suggestion that patients should have their D levels checked. Here in the U.S., one must request the D level as well as B12 and Mg , common pulls for vegan/vegetarian, as these 3 are not routinely assessed. LOVE your vids! ❤️
We agree Eidson and that is the scary part about physicians prescribing megadoses of vitamin D. Yes heart is one issue but also kidney stones. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Finally I'm taking something with proven benefits! I take 2K IU and the better half takes 5K on the recommendation of her oncology PA as she's Vitamin D deficient. Nice lay down of the A-B-C's, thanks!
Hi Jill. The time of day likely does not matter. And yes it can be taken with omega 3. It is often taken with K2 to help reduce the risk of hypercalcemia. Thanks for watching and subscribing

Sure I had a cellphone but I didn't actually get a smartphone until 2 years ago.
Thanks for all you do for this channel and I applaud your continued success! 🤗

Thank you for the free lecture Docs. Looking forward for more informative videos. Take care.
Very welcome Ryly. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Yes yooperlooper. Same here. Days are short and often grey. Thanks for watching and subscribing
As always guys it’s a pleasure watching you always a great start to my day. 👍 Phil.

Great video with lots of good information. I take supplements as part of my health regimen and it’s good to hear you guys talk about the benefits of adding them in. Take care of yourself and thanks for keeping us informed!
Very welcome Carl. Have the best day. Thank you for watching and subscribing
Nice Dave! Thanks for watching and subscribing
Great you guys, but can you include Zinc in your next video, it's not talked about very often but has a huge benefit to health, cheers for the video👍👍👍😇😇👍👍
We will add it to the list of topics Jimmy. Thanks for watching and subscribing
You guys are simply fantastic, thank you. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much StraussBMW for your support. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Hi Chad. We can add them to the list for sure. Thanks for watching and subscribing
I learn a lot from your videos and I enjoy watching them except for one thing and that one thing is the background music. I find it somewhat distracting, especially that my hearing is not so good. Other than that, keep up the good work; I'm always looking forward to your next video.
Hi Dave. Sorry about that. It’s new. We are trying to turn it down a bit next time. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Would you talk about bowed legs! The cause and to treat the pain and the popping.
Hi Mary. We can add it to the list. It is usually related to genetics and arthritis. Best of luck. Thanks for watching and subscribing
A long video for the Docs but a lot of good info in this one. Great and thanks guys.
Thanks homie! Thanks for watching and subscribing
Never too long!!
Great video about vitamin D. I learned a lot of things that I didn't know before I watched this. I take this vitamin but only recently at the suggestion of my doctor.
Thanks, guys! I really appreciate you and your videos!
Cheers!

Do you have to couple Vitamin D with Calcium for absorption?? Have you guys gotten your plaque from You Tube yet for hitting the one hundred followers mark???! You both deserve it for your unselfish work. Good health to you and your families.
Hi Denise. No to the calcium. Yes to the plaque. Thanks so much!!
1) How about lab draws and values? 2) need to take it with (?) for proper absorption
great docs! topic very timely, I have my doctor's appointment next Friday and was going to ask about vital amines :)
Perfect Carolina. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Another great video, many thanks.👏
Very welcome Tudor. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Food is medicine and if we eat well, we can get a lot of benefits from it. We need to pay more attention to our health now because as you always say, 'WE ARE IN CHARGE OF OUR OWN HEALTH".
We agree Julia one hundred percent. But vitamin D we cannot get from food. Thanks for watching and subscribing
This was great and when I had breast cancer, the oncologist told me low Vitamin D is associated with breast cancer. My adult daughters’ doctors orders Vitamin D as part of their regular labs. The problem is insurance companies won’t pay for Vitamin D tests.
That is too bad dtishman. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Thanks for the 1080p videos
Welcome Milad. Thanks for watching and subscribing
It may. PPIs have been associated with weak bones. We are working on a D3 K2 video
Yes Eric! This is coming. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Great video! Lots of good information. Thank you!!
Glad that you liked it. Have the best day. Thank you for watching and subscribing
You two are awesome. I love your videos. And from watching this I’m going to be taking vitamin D. Thxs Docs❤️🤗🇨🇦

What’s your take on over the counter weight loss and energy boosting pills?? Good??? Bad???
Hi Thomas. Not big fans. Often stimulants of some sort. Would prefer a more plant based diet with no processed food or added sugar and some exercise. Thanks for watching and subscribing
I am new your channel, it’s wonderful, I would absolutely love talk from yourself on vitamins, it’s a minefield and confusing! Greetings from over the pond! 🥰
Hi Janet. It certainly is a bit of a minefield. We are working to try to cover topics like this to help make the waters less Muddy. Thank you for watching in subscribing
Thanks for all that great info on Vitamin D.
You are very welcome Christopher. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Great video.. thanks for the wonderful info
Very welcome Rose. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Best Docs on UA-cam !!!!!
Thanks so much Spirit of 76. Thanks for watching and subscribing
I like the new look. What is the difference between vitamin D and D3 ?
Hi Paul. It is subtle. D3 seems to absorb better. We are doing this in a future video. Thanks for watching and subscribing
These guys are great. Totally get this info. Great job!
Thanks so much Brian. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Great videos! Could you do a review of coimbra protocol, megadosing on vitamin d to relieve and even reverse various autoimmune and gut issues?
Interesting Frank. Sometimes it’s the iron. Thanks for watching and subscribing
I have three hart stent’s and a Remaining right coronary blockage of 60% why don’t they put a stent there I suspect it has more to do with insurance than anything else
Hi Soggy. It may be due to collateral circulation. Best to ask your cardiologist. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Vitamin D has been used (unknowingly) to treat infections such as tuberculosis before the advent of effective antibiotics. Tuberculosis patients were sent to sanatoriums where treatment included exposure to sunlight which was thought to directly kill the tuberculosis.
Interesting Daily Dose. Thanks for watching and subscribing
You are so right. My father was in a sanatorium and lived with one lung. He passed at 92. He always took B12 and other vitamins.
Wow, you too are amazing as always. Looking good docs. Hilarious as always, and another great topic! Stay safe🙏
Thanks so much Anita! Thanks for thanks for watching

Thanks Docs. I spoke to my family doctor that I’ve been taking vitamin D3 2000 IU daily and one B 12 daily for 3+ years and he gave me that look of why. 😂 I still take it.
Hi Goth. Both are good. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Good information. Thank you.
Very welcome Rich. Thanks for watching and subscribing

Great Video on Vitamin D, and Thank You....
Very welcome. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Intelligent video...cool beans! I am and always have been very active female. But also low on VD since hitting my 60s. At 71 I became very tired and moody again. Was re minded about D and yep...fatigue, crying and brain fog went away!
Yay tree! Glad you are ok now. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Love the new opening. The music doesn't sound like my speakers are fried anymore lol. Keep videos coming!
Nice JoAnn. Thanks for watching and subscribing
WOW! Such a super informative Video! Many thanks for sharing your invaluable knowledge. Just subscribed to your awesome channel. Greetings from Austria.
Very cool Cabalingus. Your country looks amazing! Thanks for watching and subscribing
I had to stop Calcitriol (Vit D given after total thyroidectomy) and Calcium supplements. Hospitalized for hypercalcemia a week after surgery. Not fun. Seemingly harmless vitamins/minerals are nothing to screw around with.
Agreed. Glad you are ok. Thanks for watching and subscribing
I wouldn't want to take vitamin D and calcium together, especially at higher doses. The vitamin D increases calcium absorption on its own and can result in calcification of the arteries. I'd be taking vitamin K2 with D instead. This helps move calcium to the bones where it's needed.
Thanks Doc’s you make it fun to learn.
Very welcome LauraBie. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Very welcome Dino. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Whats the best time to take it. With food food. Or after food?
I was told to take Vitamin D with Vitamin K to keep my bones strong.
Thank you guys for explaining why vitamin D its so important. I will definitely take the VD everyday for sure. You guys are really fun to watch🥰
Why thank you Adriana. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Just found your channel. Love your videos
So glad to hear it. Thanks for watching and subscribing
My GP said to take 1,000 iu vitamin d, but only during the winter months. Should I take all year round. I live in southwestern Ontario.
Hi Paula. Depends on how much you are outside. Worth maybe getting your D tested. Thanks for watching and subscribing
That was really interesting!!! Thank you
Glad you liked it George. Thanks for watching and subscribing
When is best time to take vitamin D? Can it be taken with omega 3?
Hi Jill. The time of day likely does not matter. And yes it can be taken with omega 3. It is often taken with K2 to help reduce the risk of hypercalcemia. Thanks for watching and subscribing
