Well for sure this isnt your typical UA-cam shop tour video.
I was a home builder for more than 45 years.
My 53 year old son was also involved in home building.
However he was always more interested in the finishing end of the business.
About 15 years ago he opened a small rented shop and started building cabinets and installing them.
Today he has his own 4000 sq ft shop ( which isnt big enough ).
He has a large Stribig rack saw and a large sliding table saw for the plywood cutting.
Also all the large sanding machines, large shapers, large planer, etc etc.
And a paint booth very similar to yours where he does all the finishing.
Main problem he has is space for storing the cabinets after they are assembled and finished.
Although the shop is large enough for the building process, it can fill up very quickly after the cabinets are built.
Thats what makes me chuckle a bit when i watch videos of most of the shop tours.
BTW, my son has a friend who had a large shop in VA.
He has retired and sold off most of his machinery.
However he still has a brand new never used large paint booth filter system, a radial arm saw, a large Delta table saw, and an edgebander. My son has no need for any of it, let me know if you have an interest.

Do you ever make ladder back chair ? I am trying my hand at making some. Have you dried and 2 inch oak and how long do it take to dry in the kiln.

I have always stayed away from chairs. When I was younger in Vermont I took classes on making Windsor chairs and quickly realized that it would have to be making chairs or making furniture. It’s difficult to do both but not impossible. 2” oak should take about 2 months in a kiln if it has air dried for at least 3 months.

What is the make of your slabbing mill?

We are using a Lucas slabbing mill. We are purchasing a Timberking slabbing mill this summer.

Why the Timberking over the Lucas mill?
Your video was VERY informative I really enjoyed it. I am very impressed with what you have been able to accomplish in 20 years where you have been the one that did 90 percent of the work.
