Thank you for building this for us to watch! When you said "30+ sheets of baltic birch ply" my bank account simultaneously laughed, screamed and breathed a sigh of relief because it wasn't me trying to purchase all of them!

"A hug from your Foreman"; priceless ~ value them while you still can and may that be for as long as the "score years" you have left to mentor your children. Fatherhood is a sacred commitment to our children. Kudos you.
My dad wasn't there for much of my childhood because of work - now I'm older I understand he sacrificed his time so we'd have enough money and we spend a lot more time together now, but I wish I had what Jason and his son have. You're a lucky man :)
Awesome. One small suggestion, add some of those leather straps to the top of the cabinets that might hit things. I heard a tap when you exited the tall cabinet.
I swear your narrations are so soothing and relaxing. I like to listen to your videos while I work on my bonsai weeds and dig tunnels in my Zen Garden. Ahhhhh......
I am a pro closet installer, because of the space we take everything disassemble and put it together inside the closet, kitchen cabinets and closets are 2 different trades.
I'm a cabinet maker professionally, and I watch all your videos. This is a tip for overlay hinges. With that said, I've got one piece of a advice. When hanging the cabinet doors. You can cut a block of wood to set inside the cabinet opening and use that to space the bottom hinge clip where it's supposed to be. Then with both hinges and the top clip attached to the inside of the door. Clip the bottom hinge on the bottom clip, hold the door in place and drive the two screws into the top hinge clip. I really hope that made since. After all, I'm a woodworker, not a writer. Lol
Anyone who's ever done any cabinetry knows how much work went into this. This is a looooooot more work than a 30 minute YT video can convey. I'm designing my built-ins right now and I'm avoiding drawers as much as I can just for this reason. Good job.
I'm drooling. I would love to lose the wire closet maid organizer I put in years ago with one like this! Happy wife...happy life...yeah, that is what I will tell my husband. XD I have to finish spraying the kitchen cabinet doors/drawers I made first (thank you for the many videos you made to help me with that too!).
I made some cabinets for my laundry room. I put a 1/16 round over on all sides of the pieces to make the lines a feature, painted them and then attached them with dominos and construction adhesive instead of pre building the whole frame. Made the fit a lot easier.
30 year painting contractor here, while I love the Emerald urethane acrylic you should give the Kem-aqua acrylic lacquer and the Gallery acrylic lacquer products a try. Love your content thanks for sharing your work and humor.
Don't worry about filling up all those drawers on your side, Jason. I'm sure the wife will be more than happy to 'help you out' and put the empty ones to good use with her things! 'Happy wife, happy life' indeed.... 😎
Hey , you ever heard of frameless cabinets, they are popular in Europe, it won’t hurt you to check it out, hell you’ve got all those Festools, and you seem happy with them, and they are designed around a 32mm system that holds hinge plates, drawer guides, and adjustable shelves all at once. Stop struggling with your drawer guides and just plop the guides in the adjustable shelf holes. You can find a short fat screw that is just for this, same screws hold the hinge plates on
A few years ago I did a kitchen and two bathrooms that had fifty doors and drawers. Very similar construction to yours, poplar and plywood. My son (Older than the Foreman) came in and started shuffling stuff around. I sent him packing. Nice work. Got some friends setting up a closet company. Bless them.
Did a pantry once. Wanted one big drawer cabinet. Problem was inside the pantry there was a bump out for an HVAC stack or something, running vertically. I had the whole cabinet perfectly designed when I realized that this large block would be impossible to install because of the bump out. I ended up re-designing it so I could build it inside the space. Can’t imagine how bummed I would have been had I built the whole thing before realizing the problem.
I must say, your videos are fantastically explained, Humorous and enjoy learning how to do from them. Keep them up! Even if I don't plan on building a certain project, the knowledge I get from multiple videos, yours are much more entertaining to watch, while still learning plenty. Keep them up! Seem like a down to earth guy I'd enjoy building some with having a cider or other beverage. Sorry, not a bourbon fan 😂
Awesome work dude. Looks amazing. What do you think about putting a floor to ceiling mirror, on the back wall, in your closet? It would make the space feel larger, is useful, and it would look cool too.
Back in my heavy partying days we'd take a shot every time Harold and Kumar said White Castle. So when you said you "took a shot" every time you said that it brought me back to the good ol' days. Thank you for that smile to start this day.
When we moved my wife wanted me to paint our kitchen cabinets white. I sprayed them with pre-cat lacquer using an hvlp. She said “while We’re at it we should also do the bathrooms”. I said “WE?” Haha, 51 doors and drawer fronts later they were all white. 😅
As I watch this my husband is installing cabinets he made for our closets. We each have a 7x11 closet. We however are the opposite of you and your wife. I own two pairs of sweatpants and five long sleeve and five short sleeve shirts. My husband has a ton of clothes because he is basically the same size he was when we met 44 years ago. BTW they came out beautiful (yours and ours!)
Dude. I absolutely love your commentary. My wife was sitting next to me watching something on her phone and she stopped and said, “did he just say 438 books??” We just sat here and laughed 😂😂
You have inspired me to build my own glass cabinet for my craft room. I have all tools required EXCEPT a table saw. I have held off buying one as there are quite a few to choose from. Can you recommend a mid level table saw and saw dust collection system. I am fortunate to have just bought a house with a authentic post and beam barn so space isn't an issue. I really love your videos and appreciate your advice.
Love the videos... 2 questions.. 1. What sheen do you use for the paint? Semi? Satin? 2. Do you thin the paint at all when spraying? I'm going to use the same paint. Thanks!
Hilarious! Did something similar for my wife’s closet a few years ago. Had to carry six zombie cabinet boxes from the basement to the second floor. Then it was cabinet box Tetris as the boxes needed to go slightly behind the framing/trim, oh…..and be perfectly level. Six doors, 8 drawers.
I had to go back and watch again to play your drinking game. I did go through a few beers, but I'm not wasted. Probably because I'm a heavy drinker, but I can see if one was to be doing shots of bourbon it would light up your day.
You can have a separate drawer for left socks and right socks. And a separate drawer for "with paint stains" and "without paint stains" for every garment type.
Hello. I've been following your channel for a long time. I think your way of making videos is great. Today's video is absolutely great! Your precision fascinates me every time, with every project. What I would also be very interested to know is how long did it take to build out the two rooms with all the cabinets, doors, frames, drawers, etc.? Keep it up and best wishes from Germany
I cannot begin to imagine the endeavor that this double closet build was.. I just built my first-ever "cabinet", really it was 4 drawers added to the interior open space of my work bench. 1.5 sheets of plywood, 4 sets of drawer slides, 28 individual pieces, 32 pocketholes. I'm not sure if I'm more proud of howmwellnitsnturned out, or more scared now that the missus knows I can build cabinets.
You can have one drawer per color of socks !! A huge game changer in the morning. At the end of the year it's a solid 1 or 2 minutes gain.... Think about how many glasses of bourbon you can serve in those 2 minutes!!!
Beginner tactics. Just buy 30 pairs of the same socks. No more sorting after laundry, no more insecurity about potentially picking mismatching pairs, and when they start getting holes, no worries about throwing out singles.
Looks great. great to see Craig pulling his weight for once!!! J/K. Im about to use the same paint to spray some interior doors. question, How much did you dilute the paint and what size tip did you use in your HVLP.

Nice job, I like it! You could give your wife her own secret storage under the butcher block top in the corners. I am thinking some sort of motorized jewelry tree that pops out of the counter.😄
This is kitchen-cabinetry quality in the closet. Lots of very nice custom closets have open shelves, no face frames, etc. really really nice job you did here.
Ok legit question here though. Not mally when you do drawer fronts you use thicker material on the inside and dado the back so your drawer front suck in when attaching hardware. How did you avoid that when only using 1/4" MDF?
Looks very nice! Imagine having to do an entire home. A really big home with never-ending built-in cabinets, etc. While woodworking is fun, I think I'd get burned out pretty fast.
You should check out Matt Cremona's series building the addition to his house! He's building the kitchen cabinets now. Edit: starting with rough sawn wood... And custom bead panels!
Beautiful craftsmanship! Do you mind if I ask roughly what this cost? Balancing the trade off between buy vs build - clearly you LOVED the experience! Obviously quality of result is a big factor in the decision.
Yeah, your candy might have been better hidden in that gap between the cabinet tops and the ceiling behind the crown molding. The space under the butcher block counter in either corner might be useful too, though a bit obvious.
Great job on these custom cabinets. I'm wondering how do you stop the 1/4" drawer face material from bowing in when you add the cup handles? If my thinking is right there is a 1/4" gap between the two units.
Gorgeous build. How square was the space you built these in to start? Did you have to make adjustments to your build to fit your space or your space to your build?
When spacing drawer slides vertically, what is your preferred calculation to achieve the best result? I have 3 - 7” drawers and don’t know how high each slide should be to get the right spacing.

Well 31 sheets times 80 dollars a sheet gets you just under 2500$

Yeah, Jason, that's a $20k closet around here, mainly just because of inset doors and drawers. Excellent work though. Nicely done Sir. Nicely done.

Very nice! What hardware hole drilling jig was that?
How come you didn't make a couple of secret doors in the open spots under the butcher block top in each corner
I admire your skills, craftsmanship and dedication! Amazing job!
How do you attach the drawer face to the drawer box? Isn’t there a gap between the MDF and drawer box due to the face frame being thicker?
