After not watching game grumps for a few years, I’m glad to see nearly nothing has changed when it comes to Arin skipping tutorials and then totally paying the price shortly after.

And I think it's because serieses like Danganronpa, which took over all of their uploads for a couple months, turned a lot of viewers away who either didn't like that game or virtual novels in general. So now they are doing one offs throughout the week and I think they are gonna go to two long series on the weekends to satisfy both audiences. But who knows for sure yet?
Apparently the voice change was from a lot of discussion about giving him a voice better suited for actually holding conversations. Doing the WOOHOO HAHA voice makes extended dialogue sound awkward and kinda restricts emotional range. One of many changes they did with Frontiers to test the waters for changes to the series going forward.
I thought they did that to show that some time has passed and that this was an actually more grown up version of sonic the hedge hog without being super edgy. but i guess that was more just the feel i got from the game.
tbh I think the movie voice actor is the best. He can play serious and silly. His tone is perfect. Not saying they have to get him for every project but deeper voice Sonic weirds me out for whatever reason.

In OoT the owl dude that tells you stuff was characterized as secretly a chicken, and later in MM, the half-remembered chicken noises morphed into generic bird of prey noises and his role as gameplay exposition vehicle combined with those noises into the character “Spoiler Owl.” Arin then immediately actually spoiled the 6th Harry Potter book for Dan and desperately tries to pretend he didn’t. It comes up periodically since.
Putting a tutorial on a loading screen is like writing it on a sticky note, crumbling it up, tossing it in the gutter that Arin steps over, and expecting him to see it 😂

Knowing how to perform something isn't necessarily the same as knowing what button to press, since controls can be changed in video games. I imagine there's a "classic" setting to make the homing attack use the jump button.

If you're confused about the vibe and music, it's intentional. They wanted this to be a darker/sort of mysterious departure from previous games. It makes sense when the story fleshes out more
Speaking personally, Sonic Adventure DX was my first-ever Sonic game, and having run around the Mystic Ruins Adventure Field, I have always...ALWAYS...wanted a Sonic game like this ever since then. I am so happy y'all are playing this. I just know this is gonna be a fun series. :3

I'm so fucking glad the weirdness of this game isn't lost on Arin, the strange desolate tone and the intense anxiety-inducing music in 1-1 are super important for setting the mood. @@kei_otake Because he struggles with things other players don't because he denied the help the game tried to give him, then he'll inevitably run into roadblocks because of that and, in a fit of rage, he'll blame the game when it was all his fault. It's not that big a deal, but it is a predictable cycle at this point.
I think this game is perfect for Arin. It will literally halt your movement as if saying "You will pay attention on how to play this game. Shut up and get good." I'm kinda excited to see Arin's reaction to the plot.
Spoiler Owl is one of my favorite bits and I am so glad it was referenced again in this video!! So glad to see Long Series Sundays -- and I enjoy the tags being used to number the episodes.
Frontiers strangely e ought went for a more mature version of the characters. Sonic still cracks jokes but significantly less of them and actually listens to his friends concerns and worries. There's actually a few pretty emotional scenes between Sonic, Amy and Tails in this game.
The vibe on that intro really is bizarre. "Emerald Hills Zone" somehow got replaced with the craggy coastline of the literal Emerald Isle, and we swapped out the usual peppy pop-rock lineup for "Stone in Focus" by Aphex Twin. I love Aphex Twin, I just don't usually associate his collective works with the Sonic franchise.
1:00 that sums up what the story of this game is gonna be pretty good. I think the boys are not ready for Sonic to actually get 100% serious with its characters.
Tip for Arin, Remember to go to settings and turn up the acceleration for Sonic all the way up to actually use ALL his speed in the open world when you upgrade your speed.
chances are he recorded half of the game with one session so youre gonna have to deal with him playing the game incorrectly until he reads the comments
Wait... Why isn't that the default? That's like the new Saints Row where you could lower the car speed to 50mph - but at least the default was to have the car speed at max
Thank you so much for finally playing this game. It's definitely one of the better 3D _Sonic_ titles, with a great story, enormous bosses, and of course, amazing music. If Sega fine tunes the controls and tightens the open worlds a bit, and make them les "grindy" it could be the direction Sonic team needs to keep moving in. I can't wait to see the mountain of memes and hilarious moments Arin and Dan add to its legacy.
This actually looks super fun so far and I'm so glad Arin seems to be enjoying it. That "weee" when he was riding the rails was absolutely precious. 😆 Also, that bit about the dart throwing almost made me fall on the treadmill. I think I'm happier about that than I should be. 🤣 I am so excited at the prospect of dozens of episodes of going baton.
Yeah I really do hope he ends up actually liking the game because even as someone who isn't a sonic fan I really enjoyed this game a lot! It's not perfect but I found it pretty good.

Knowing how to perform something isn't necessarily the same as knowing what button to press, since controls can be changed in video games. I imagine there's a "classic" setting to make the homing attack use the jump button.

If you're confused about the vibe and music, it's intentional. They wanted this to be a darker/sort of mysterious departure from previous games. It makes sense when the story fleshes out more

Speaking personally, Sonic Adventure DX was my first-ever Sonic game, and having run around the Mystic Ruins Adventure Field, I have always...ALWAYS...wanted a Sonic game like this ever since then. I am so happy y'all are playing this. I just know this is gonna be a fun series. :3

Honestly, knowing Game Grumps, we probably won't get there until like episode 20.
They'll probably ignore the music completely as Arin complains about the controls again.
I tried Going Baton once, but it took me a long time to recover and my proctologist told me in no uncertain terms to never try that again.

I'm so fucking glad the weirdness of this game isn't lost on Arin, the strange desolate tone and the intense anxiety-inducing music in 1-1 are super important for setting the mood. @@kei_otake Because he struggles with things other players don't because he denied the help the game tried to give him, then he'll inevitably run into roadblocks because of that and, in a fit of rage, he'll blame the game when it was all his fault. It's not that big a deal, but it is a predictable cycle at this point.
I'm not sure he's ever died *that* fast immediately after skipping a tutorial before. He's reached his final form.
I think this game is perfect for Arin. It will literally halt your movement as if saying "You will pay attention on how to play this game. Shut up and get good."

Frontiers strangely e ought went for a more mature version of the characters. Sonic still cracks jokes but significantly less of them and actually listens to his friends concerns and worries. There's actually a few pretty emotional scenes between Sonic, Amy and Tails in this game.

The vibe on that intro really is bizarre. "Emerald Hills Zone" somehow got replaced with the craggy coastline of the literal Emerald Isle, and we swapped out the usual peppy pop-rock lineup for "Stone in Focus" by Aphex Twin.
I love Aphex Twin, I just don't usually associate his collective works with the Sonic franchise.

Tip for Arin, Remember to go to settings and turn up the acceleration for Sonic all the way up to actually use ALL his speed in the open world when you upgrade your speed.
chances are he recorded half of the game with one session so youre gonna have to deal with him playing the game incorrectly until he reads the comments

Thank you so much for finally playing this game. It's definitely one of the better 3D _Sonic_ titles, with a great story, enormous bosses, and of course, amazing music. If Sega fine tunes the controls and tightens the open worlds a bit, and make them les "grindy" it could be the direction Sonic team needs to keep moving in. I can't wait to see the mountain of memes and hilarious moments Arin and Dan add to its legacy.
You know that mountain's going to be a tall one.
They do tend to have that effect of Sonic games.

Yeah I really do hope he ends up actually liking the game because even as someone who isn't a sonic fan I really enjoyed this game a lot! It's not perfect but I found it pretty good.
