      yea that would have made sense if they would have not lied to the public about him leaving vs them firing him. • @cornpop3315

    Its sad how callously they kicked Michael out and their rhetoric is so stupid.
    "I learned to scream six months ago"
    "Ollie did it"
    Not everyone is the same. Why in the hell does he even need to sing anyways? His singing on their last album did absolutely nothing for the record, if anything, it made it worse. Michael's harsh vocals complimented the band really well, because it wasn't an overproduced dark sound. He had a raw organic style almost like a rap scream that totally fits the unpredictable random shitshow this band calls "expiremental" music.
    I understand if they were gonna go full pop. Sure, you wouldn't need a harsh vocalist, but their new record is just a bunch of shitty chugs fused with new Jack swing. Like really? New Jack swing? There's a reason why the genre only lasted about half a decade before it died in the mid fucking 90s.

    • @chrisvalenzuela7911
      @chrisvalenzuela7911 4 роки тому +3

      I think the band is alot better without Michael. You can call it raw but sometimes his screaming was way too scratchy and cheesy for me. just my opinion. But he was undoubtedly crucial to the bands begging. But theyre moving forward now and changing. Which is great for a band to stay great. And I absolutely loved their recent album.

    • @cornpop3315
      @cornpop3315 4 роки тому +2

      I think the band could be better without him too, but the new record is nothing to brag about. It's a fine record, but I can't say its better than anything else they've made. They can definitely utilize Michael, headspace is a great example. But before headspace, I can see where he didn't fit, but their overall sound back then was all over the place. I like to compare Michael to John Mess on DGD. He's organic, raw, and a tad annoying, but he's needed.

    • @datboi_gee
      @datboi_gee 4 роки тому

      It'd be a totally different thing if they were transparent about everything but their music just isn't what it used to be and they didn't feel a need to keep Michael around with the change in sound.
      If they got heavier, you could bet your ass he'd still be in the band. Because he was good in his role within the band.
      But they changed and had less and less of a role for him to fill out. It was either keep him and have him do other things like sing or play instruments, keep him and write heavier music he could participate equally in, or cut him entirely. And they didn't need other instruments, even another vocalist, because the band is already fleshed out and talented at what they do. So even if Michael got pretty good at singing, he'd still be left with scraps because Tyler is so significantly better than the average singer.
      I'm not into their new record at all. I can vibe with a couple tracks but the bulk of the record just isn't what I want or even like from this group of dudes. Personally think they'd be more relevant today if they kept Michael and went deeper into the metal aspect of their sound but Tyler seems to have the guys bend to his will, and that just isn't how he wanted things to go. And that's totally fine. But it certainly isn't anything Michael did wrong or could have even prevented.

    This is difficult, but this is my unbiased response from an industry standpoint. Michael and tyler KILLED it in woe is me. Thats when they both got big, his screams complimented tylers clean vocals. But from 2010-2015 we all know that rise records & the rest of the metalcore industry started getting lighter & lighter. You are literally asking someone who is ripping his vocal chords in a heavy band to readapt to a genre that is entirely diametric to what he is used to. His cleans were alright, but see that's the problem. Your asking michael, a baritone punk sounding clean vocalist to duo with tyler who was the first vocalist to get on jonny craigs level thats not fair. especially comparing him to all these sites, Ollie does have good clean vocals but people seem to forget that when Bring Me The Horizon got signed to epitaph, Ali had vocal surgery done and he had a lot of money behind him and he was loved for his image so it wasn't exactly fair to compare all the in Michael ..Also & i'm not trying to talk trash, but the Ferrris brothers not being apart of issues had a big infuence in the sound change. I think that Issues was ..i suppose the word would he bold, by dropping the BY FAR THE BEST synth player for a DJ.. like i'm well aware that most hardcore/metalcore bands no longer have synth artists because it can all be programmed, but as someone who played synth/keys for metalcore bands i noticed key highlights throughout their entire tracks with WIM, i don't know why ferris wasn't brought into issues but him & his brother not being apart of the new project affected the sound big time. Issues has hardcore roots, but it wen't in a jazzzy-like hardcore direction as the scene kids grew up and the next generation came in, and unfortunetly michael and the ferris brothers were no longer needed. I do wanna say, i'd prefer the ferris's keys over the DJ programs any day, but you're recieving advice from someone who will always miss the old metalcore. So my opinion is in no way objective, and they have been very, very successfull using turn tables instead of keys, and going all cleans. I just wanna say now that tyler is no longer apart of issues, the band has everything up in the air at this point. Michaels new project is.. interesting it seems like something hopeless records would sign, and replacing tyler will be hard. I honestly would just start a new project, it's honestly apparent that what we get now is in no way similiar to the legacy issues left so make another legacy. Tyler changed the game by mimicking Johnny Craig's R&B vocal style which used to be thought of as impossible and now there are a ton of vocalist like that.. like I said everything's up in the air but these gentlemen seem to be extremely talented regardless of my opinion and I hope this was pretty unbiased

      Wayne Barnes No he’s right “screaming” in the beginning was cool but now it is really generic unless you’re doing death metal/deathcore, & a lot of kids who were scene ventured off listening to other styles of music because this genre can be very repetitive, a lot of these bands usually don’t last unless they change it up

      @@Shrimpslider thank you man, hardly anyone agrees with me in these comments, but i think the views and record sales speak for themselves. rappers get more famous for making screaming music now than actual bands lol. its because its a bit more fresh/unique screaming on a rap beat than it is for screaming over a breakdown for the past 25 years like they have done in metalcore lol.
