Hi! Man, thanks for covering this James! It's so fun to see someone using it like this. I am watching and thought I'd share some tips in case it might help people. I think a burger joint should totally be able to make lots of money, I mean.. McDonald's?!?. I am going to be working on a setting that will add a base price to foods, so that if a player wants to try to run a 5 star burger joint and have enough to live off of, it can be done. The game really needs work with seasons ugh. I want to add a test to indoors on those buffs where Sims freak out because it's stormy. I swore that was not a thing at one time.. A future desire is also to boost revenues by having takeout. Sim walks in grabs meal, bam. No worries about the sim cap and more sales. Waiters are the only ones that can take orders (of staff) as you realized. You would also have to be mindful off settings. I guess a player could figure it out by see and feel but it would be turning back on waiters take orders (oops you did this 30 seconds later). You really can kind of evolve the feel of the restaurant over time. I really liked the idea of a start like yours where you can grow from a single Sim setup to a big establishment with a 6 member staff. The customers waiting feature coming in 3.1 is not the same as disallow new, as I guess you learned from trial and error. So if you have 3 tables and someone leaves, it's going to consider that a new group wouldn't be stuck "waiting" :)
I love this mod for maybe a quaint little cafe where the chef would naturally bring you the meals and take your orders. It's another aspect of realism and i'm totally here for it. Love your stuff Carl 😁💜
we REALLY NEED a Dine Out refresh. It's been SO LONG since they released it but they won't even bother fixing it. it wouldve been a great pack to buy if it wasnt for the bugs.
The funny part is that Dine Out, when released, ran better than what it does now.... it's on my list of DLC that is worthless because the updates after that DLC have made it too tooo to toooooooo buggy to play. It's a bigger FU from EA because you've already paid, and now they're making your purchased merchandise worse with time through updates?! Thank God for caring, dedicated, smart community members that have taken it upon themselves to fix this stuff 🙌❤️
I saw a list of games on EA's page for games you can send in complaints about, and Dine Out wasn't there. Almost all the packs were there, but not Dine Out. Either they have gotten too many complaints that they resemble spam, or they don't care.
Dine out is one of just a couple of packs I don't have. Up to now I refused to get it because of how buggy it is. Now this mod makes me want to get it, but I also don't want to reward EA for making a buggy unplayable pack. Same with wedding stories. If we keep buying unplayable DLC they will continue to produce it.
I too have refused to buy Dine Out because I came to sims late, and by then Dine Out was very very buggy, but this mod makes me want to buy it-this is exactly what I wanted/hoped Dine Out would be! Carl is truly inspiring! Such a good mod, so much fun!
Fries are in appetizers! You scrolled right over them before deciding to skip apps. Carl’s guides have always been awesome, really well thought out and it’s unsurprising that his mods are excellent in that regard too!
ohhhh a new series with dine out would be great! maybe the next generation (Addison?) can have a restaurant and have the teens working there after school? the fries were in appetizers btw 😅
I’m here for this! Carl is partially responsible for saving the Sims from some of their fails…kudos to him and kudos to James for always showing support! Oh, and this is day 861 of me asking Mr. Turner to bless us with a side Sims 2 or Sims 3 LP! Well not really day 861, more like day 2 but ya get the picture 😅

I’ve used this mod for a while now, but haven’t tried it out like this, just to make it easier when I have a regular restaurant, but this seems fun! He always fix the little things in the game that everyone else forgets to fix!
I would have gone with B.U.N.Z. personally. That said, Carl is changing the game in meaningful ways and I'm here for it! Glad to see you featuring his work.

Ooh! What if he starts working at a fast food restaurant and then as he's promoted eventually takes over and runs it himself! That would be realistic and really fun! Maybe he even goes to college for culinary arts while he's working there part time and becomes an awesome chef! 😃

You should definitely do another dine out series or mini series! Maybe with Brianna and/or Addison once they age up? or part of the Bigwallet Emporium can be a restaurant with a fake thrift store or mall type shops?
I really hope there will be a dine out refresh where they add the option to play as a chef/ a waiter ... So that you could have a family owned , family managed restaurant (which makes so much sens )!

Please bring back the dine out series... apart from the seasons lets play, that was in my top 3 of all time bigwallet favorites... the builds in that series were wayyy ahead of its time, especially REEF
My Sim can FINALLY be the chef... working on the cooking skill is now gonna feel so much more fulfilling!! Dine Out is my favourite pack and I'm so happy that someone fixed it and made it fun again!!
I LOVED "Open for Business" in the Sims 2, so when "Dine Out" came around in Sims 4, I was excited until I watched the reviews. EA owes Carl, because his mod is the ONLY REASON I bought this pack today. With everything buggy in Sims 4, I look to modders like him to save the game. Thank you for a super fun review and to Carl for making this mess of a pack actually work!
The level of excitement in James voice tells me this is a great mod. Just imagine being able to play Dine Out as it should have been when it was released. It was one of the major disappointments in the game so glad for people like Carl their talent and dedication to improving the game experience for the community will be definitely getting this mod and paying for it too. This was fun to watch! I would love to see another dine out let’s play with this mod, also Carl did an amazing job with the mod and making it function properly, yet again modders are improving the game for the better
For some reason, you HAVE to do the menu before setting custom outfits for your staff, otherwise it undoes your outfit choices when you edit menu - this isn’t anything to do with the mod, it’s just a glitch in the game.
It’d be cool if you did a rags to riches LP using this mod with Addison as an “experimental” chef! Maybe he could have the more uncommon foods as his menu because he likes the science table! 😊
EA needs to pay Carl a buttload of money and then release this as a pack refresh. I am so excited to play dine out for the first time! I've had the pack forever, and my Sims go to restaurants, but I have never wanted to try running a restaurant because of the horrible bugs and the fact that my Sims couldn't be the chef or the host. This actually makes the pack worth playing! I am about to age up my next legacy Sim, and I know exactly what career she is going into!
please do at least a mini series with this mod! it would be so fun for a side character from one of the main lets plays to run a restaurant :) make it a family restaurant and hire your cousins/extended family as staff lol

Watching this a month later cause I just started playing on my Mac coming from console and if a refresh ever happens this would be a perfect model, and they should add in take out orders (pipe dream I know) but this is so great!!!
Neat! I’ll have to give this mod a try sometime. You mentioned that you can have household members work there, too, and that’s something I’ve wanted for awhile with the game. I like that there’s different settings which means the restaurants can vary a lot more so they’re not all having to be fancy sit-down restaurants with waiters, hosts, etc. Neat mod! Hmm...All it needs is for the guests to be able to automatically place orders and eliminate the need for a solo-run Sim to run over and take orders. Like a version of the vet check-in station, or just as a matter of them looking at the menus.
Thanks for going through the mod like that because I'm honestly too lazy to read through stuff unless it's necessary and I really like the way this mod seems to vastly improve the game play. Can't wait to get it.

This looks way better! I kinda just ended up using Dine Out to make places for my sims to *go* rather than running them myself, but having a functional version that lets you play a small café or diner with limited staff etc. looks fun.
This is a great mod by Carl he does a fantastic job on them and I’m glad that he really fixed one of the best yet buggiest expansions packs in the game , this is awesome !

THIS is way cool!!! This is probably the 2nd or 3rd item that I've seen that Carl has made such a difference. WHY does EA NOT get the talent like him? James thank you for always supporting your fellow UA-camrs.... I think this is so much fun!!! I would love to see you go back and do a Let's play with this mod on your restaurants!!! I really enjoyed this!!

I recently finished Dine Out Rags to Riches with Sir and Little!!! How I wish this mod was available 6years ago for you, James!! You should go to one of your restaurants (R.E.E.F. 🙋🏻♀️) if you still have the game save and redeem some of the restaurants! Please please please

I never really played the Dine Out gameplay, but I might just have to. This mod looks amazing and all of the mods that I've downloaded from Carl have been great.

This is so amazing! Dine out is one of my favorite packs (at least the idea of it) and this mod seems to actually make it playable again. Love it!!
