Cant beat it! Been fishing with it for 2 years. I put some 30 lb braid on it. Great top water and crank bait rod. Caught over 20 pike and over 100 smally, largy and rock bass on it. Works great. There's a learning curve if your new to baitcasters. Just be patient.
Just curious how do you think this pole and reel will hold up for fishing off a pier in saltwater...catching fish like porgie, sea bass, fluke? If the reel cant handle it, and I swap reels with something better and still use the same pole, think the pole will hold up? Thanks.
@@josephbattaglia3690 oh yeah the pole is a medium heavy so its pretty strong. I fish fresh water catching mostly big pike and small mouth, and she holds up perfectly. The reel is decent and strong as well. Can't beat it for the money. Just make sure you use braid lol

I have the same rod i got it at walmart for 7 dollars and this is my 4th year with it coming up still works like i need it to 4.5 pounds is my pb on it i always keep it as my backup or lighter tackle rod i love my abu garcia blue max thats my all around go to rod then the black max then the alpha

I upgraded this reel with some black max ball bearings. A reel that I had upgraded to ceramics bearings that i had lying around also swapped the tension knob plastic bushing with the brass bushing that was swapped for the bearing now my reel has a better load bearing capacity and will last longer also a lot smoother. Just something I did because I had extra parts.
I've been looking at this combo on Amazon haven't had a baitcasting rod in years last one was a pinnacle pc10 on a Fenwick medium heavy 6'6" rod it was like a dream but it was also over 150$ I could have 5 of these for that price and if it works I wouldn't be bitching .
Honestly the rod or combo is irrelevant. Your setup is more important. I’ve been fishing for about 6 months. I fish with buddies that have years of experience. We fish together, they have expensive rods, I keep it simple I use an ugly stik. Bottom line I out fish them all the time now. I’m from California, I’ve caught more bass and bigger bass than them.
