Great video, accept you should include how you disconnected the electrical connector with the lock clip and pinch release, would be more informative but thanks for the tricks and tips
Thanks for this vid. Just had to do it on my truck so I happened to have the socket. I also spent the extra $10 for the OEM rounded version. Getting it out took 30 secs. Getting it back in however...UGH.
Orielly has the Lisle 1-1/16 Inch Oil Pressure Switch Socket 3/8 Inch Drive Part # 13250 Line: LIS for $12.99. I tried with a standard socket which didn't seem to work well. This specialty tool made it quite a bit easier.
I don't have a code reader, my battery is charged, and the oilcan red light is on the dash. It's a 2012 chrysler 200 2.4l w/144,000 miles. I turn the key on and everything lights up as usual but won't turn over.
I attempted this but I can’t seem to get the socket all the over the sensor to take it out. It seems like something is blocking the socket and I can hand spin it. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
When taking out the oil pressure sensor would it be necessary to take off the upper and lower manifold to get to the oil pressure sensor or do you just need to takeoff one of the manifold I am going to replace the gaskets to that
I looked at mine and couldn't even hardly see the sensor and a cluster crap of wires near the sensor way more than other videos I have seen so not sure what's up with that not a job I can do as I no longer have tbe patience to try to replace a sensor I can't even see or feel..
I do have a code that says I need to replace this sensor. I'm curious about the symptoms of a bad sensor. My car has a very hard time starting. HOWEVER, ONCE IT HAS WARMED UP IT STARTS WITHOUT AN ISSUE. Could the sensor give me starting problems?
I definitely do not like throwing parts at a problem. We got the 520 error code, by the time I got there my buddy had the sensor already purchased. At that point we just put it in because it was the easiest thing to do. In our case it absolutely solved the problem. I can’t remember it was hard to start when it was cold or not. I’d have to look up the diagnostic test for the sensor.
Thanks for the video!!! How can you tell if you have the 'updated' sensor? They all look the same and Im pretty sure the parts sellers wont volunteer they are selling the old one.
We are replacing ours now. You only have the updated version if it has been replaced before. Now it's so tight in there, the clamp and hose are in the way, and you can't get the bigger socket to fit over the sensor. A 20 minute job has turned into an all day, what-do-we-do job.
Question. Would an oil engine pressure switch stuck on "off" cause my van to not accelerate properly? I just bought a 2016 Dodge Grand caravan and the damn thing won't GO, it insists on accelerating at snail's and that's so dangerous. I thought it was a throttle position sensor but the code that was thrown was for the oil engine pressure switch.
Same issue, 2016 GC. only getting oil temp codes. I changed out the oil cooler with a metal one. It had cheap sensors and started doing this after that change. Won't accelerate when going hwy speeds only. Stops at 4k rpm every time.
I changed mines three times nothing change. No code on vehicle but when I use my Innova 3100 RS code pops up P06DE. Still seem to fix this... help help lol
I was hoping to do it myself but I dont have the necessary tools and cant grind anything to fit. So looks like I'll be doing some hunting and going to a mechanic as an absolute last resort.
Could someone please answer me, if this will work on a 2013 dodge grand caravan? Auto places are quoting me 800 dollars since it's got the deluxe engine? Is this correct?
I just took mine in because my oil had completely leaked out within 2 months of just having an oil change. The shop said it needed an oil sending unit. Gonna do it myself
@@mamasitarose3903 Oh right on, I found my problem. It was a bad sending unit. NOTE: DO NOT BUY CHEAP PARTS THE COMPUTERS WONT RECOGNIZE THEM OR THEY ARE FAULTY! Bought a MOPAR part and bingo
2014 caravan seems to be loosing power when accelerating or going up hills, had the code ran at AutoZone saying it could be this sensor? Or should I just buy the pump too haha
I took battery off for extra space also not sure it's related but van wouldn't start turned over fine but no start not even attempt thought it could be fuel related but since it was throwing code for this switch I went ahead and changed it thinking maybe and it fired up after hope it helps if someone is having similar issue ill update/edit if it's unrelated
I have a 2017 Dodge caravan the code that I have a TSB 18-064-18 now when my engine light first came on I thought it was a Cadillac converter problem that I had before well I put the additive into the the gas tank and did everything I supposed to do okay I think few days later I drove from Charleston South Carolina to the middle of North Carolina with a 6 hour drive and I drove back no problem still thinking it's a Cadillac converter I continue to drive that car for another whole month well that engine lightI stayed on so I had to get it check so they diagnose it as oil pump problem I mentioned oil pump problem like my oil pump was going out but I drove that van from Charleston South Carolina to the middle of North Carolina and back and my car's at the garage right now but my car did not break down it still drove like a beast okay no my question is I'm wondering if it's oil pump oil pump sensor please help me out please
This is perfect! I think I have a slight leak in the manifold. A pool of about a quarter inch deep of either motor oil or coolant, maybe both. Is there a trick to removing it without significantly more work?
The manifold is held down by 4 10mm nuts (2 in front by coolant tube, 2 in rear) And 8 or so 8mm screws. After that, disconnect intake tube and and hoses and electrical connectors and it should wiggle off.
This project can take 5 minutes or 5 hours. You know what needs to be done. With all the wires and hoses in the way and such a tiny space to try to work in, you are probably better off letting a mechanic deal with this headache. Another solution is use a 1 inch peice of electric tape to cover the check engine light is a better fix.
I just did mine and it only took me about 20 minutes with the right tools, no need to take anything apart. Thanks for the video
Do you need to drain the oil for this?

Great. Never would've had the confidence without this video.

I like that you included tool information and specifics about alternatives. great work thank you!

did you need 2 diff. sockets or just the one? I just the one online.the same one you are talking about
@@jamesromero3229 Just that one Lisle $12.99 socket tool.
I was able to change mine out with a regular/thin 1 1/16" deep socket + a 6" extension. Not much room to work, but it was possible.
How to replace oil sensor on a 2016 ram 1500 3.6 liter
*Thanks for the help . im hoping this fix takes care of the code issue for my caravan*
Thank you so much for the info it worked like a charm I did have to buy the socket but it was worth it
Where you buy that rounded socket at ?
Can I use the special socket to remove the old engine oil sensor?
Thanks for the info !
Easy Job to replace it, that's mechanic Carvan

But now I can't connect the connector to the back of the sensor
Probably was the dumb hose next to it right?
@@kimpham7592, probably the hose next to it blocking it?

Could it be my oil sensor or my oil pressure pump that makes my oil light ding
Would this be something to check if change oil keeps coming on even after resetting it and checking oil?
Yes
excellent VID!!
Hey got all the tools do I need to take the battery out or any hoses?? I will do this tomorrow morning.
How did u determine it was the sensor & not the pump itself?.
When taking out the oil pressure sensor would it be necessary to take off the upper and lower manifold to get to the oil pressure sensor or do you just need to takeoff one of the manifold I am going to replace the gaskets to that
nice to know this can be done on tranverse engines without pulling the intake. not possible on RWD cars/trucks

Oil pressure ding sometimes when breaking. Does that mean bad sensor?

Telling me isn't because they have to replace the entire housing and not just the sensor
Did ur problem get resolved?

@Rocket Pliance oh ok, I just have first hand knowledge it happened to me 3 times in a row guy!
Replacing the cooler and sensor twice did not get rid of this code. Oil pump?
check wiring to make sure it is not creating resistance. Also to keep in mind that, has it failed completely or random?
If oil is leaking out what then?
Take the battery out first. Job goes a lot easier!!! 20 minutes done!!!
Will this make your transmission not want to shift
