It is a GREAT feature. 2 Questions : 1. How many phones (cameras) can be connected to a controller at a time ? 2. Does it support only recording ? I mean, can I take photos (snaps) with this ?
Excellent video - was looking at nanny-cam or webcam apps to try and do this, but the black magic app works perfectly - using 2 iphone 11s one on a 2m long extension and gimbal - giving some fantastic panoramic shots and drone type aerial shots.
This is game changing for me. I always struggled to monitor the recording. I used AirPlay my iPhone's screen to my MacBook but then I can't use the MacBook anymore. I wish it could work on cable to minimise delay.
Does remote monitoring with BM app needs both iPhones to be signed in with same Apple ID or can I use my friends iPhone/iPad & use this remote monitoring?
Good question. I don't see why you couldn't use a friends iphone/ipad for the monitoring. As long they have the same app downloaded then you just need wifi turned on.
The two (or more) phones do not have to be "linked" by Apple ID or anything like that. The connection between the Blackmagic Camera app is purely from app to app with the password and on wifi only (not working when on cell). So the steps are simple: - Make sure the camera app is installed on all phones that are to be used - Connect both (or more) phones to the same wifi (a requirement) - Turn on the feature in the app on all the phones - Designate one unit as the controller (I call mine "Controller") and the others as Cam A, Cam B, etc - Connect to the controller from each of the phones inside the camera app - Use the phone/ipad that is the controller to control all the "camera iphones".
Excellent Tute! Thank you. 2 Qs: 1) Does the app allow Record / Pause / Resume / Stop? 2) Can a Windows PC/Laptop be set to control all smart phones connected?
Great video! Btw is it possible to use the new rack focusing feature on the remote B cam to control and change rack focus from 1 to 2 to 3 on the main recording A cam? Thank you
What if you don’t need any filmmaking tools, and all you want is low-latency iPad monitoring for the iPhone’s camera? I’m kinda needing to use it as if it s a mirror, and I’m wondering why I can’t find something with latency more on par with continuity camera. I might just have to use my laptop as my monitor but ughgggh

The watch is way to weak in terms of processing power to run the app, so unless BM makes a specific watch app, which they probably won't do in a while since the market for that (bm camera app users using their watch is probably a lot less than "normal" people using their watch with the regular camera app) is probably too small

I can't work out how to display a lut on my monitoring iPad with 3 cams. The individual iPhones show the lut but don't pass it through to the iPad for monitoring. On the iPad the settings seem to only be for the ipads camera and not for all the incoming feeds.
I can confirm this is not happening when using a phone to monitor another phone as well - I *think* it might be a processing issue thing, ie it takes less processing power to feed the "raw image" as it is before the lut is applied. Could also be it's an oversight they are working on - since the LUT is only applied to the preview on the screen of the phone that is recorded it might take additional processing power to apply it to the datastream that is being sent, and that might be the reason it''s not transmitting the "lut'ed" image.
