I never started, the hottest I owned was a moped! You don't have much choice living here; the strip between sea and mountain is very narrow, the sea being the brute. Rudyard Kipling, not often I hear that reference, had that poem in school >25 years ago. Ozymandias was THE poem at the time though...
Yeah that's basically it. If I can't get in the cameras, there's no way I'll be able to manage cameras + rifle. All the tripods, camera setting, lens cleaning etc has to be "in the fingers"...
Yes Mountrainer. Bought is as the builder lived down the street from where I hired a room in Ebensee. It is a quality item, but not a shooting stick (despite advertising). Really helps with a backpack in steep terrain as you don't have to take weight/balance in ancles/knees/hip and the stabilized walking position lets the side of the boot bite properly into the terrain rather than trying to maintain a grip with toes or heels. No benefit on flat terrain. Lucas (Austria n guide) used HEP which was a bergstock + proper shooting stick. I will try that one in August and I suspect the dual-purpose makes it a better product for a hunter.
Anybody think you were in dopy Australia it takes forever to get things done are they gold plaiting that fine instrument of a rifle you use😄😄come on, i want to learn something, your country side is like another planet to me
Sure. Gopro Hero 11, Sony A6600 w 11mm f1.8, Sony A7C w 200-600mm f?, Sony A7C w 24-105 f4, Triggercam 2.1. Variable ND filter 1-5. Usually Benro carbon tripods, ball/threeway/video head depending, a small PGYTECH Mantis tripod for tight shots. Sennheiser MKE400 mics, sometimes Roede GO II.
I don't really have any firm favorites, most seems to work fine but I'll stay away from the cheapest guns. If I was restricted to the norwegian shops, I'd buy a Sako 90 Peak if new or a Sako Forester (short action) or Finnbear (long action) if secondhand. But those Sako rifles would require stock modifications to be what I want, so it could end up pricey for little gain. If I could do mailorder, I would get a Gunwerks Clymr or Magnus stock and drop a Rem700 or compatible into that (I would prefer something with a different bolt release). However, I would rebuild the safety (Recknagel Secura), change the trigger (Triggertech) and put a quality match barrel on it. That build would have taken time and landed pricewise close to the Sako 90 without the resale value. The Sako 90 wouldn't require that much work, but if import was an option a "ready" Gunwerks Clymr would be +50% and at the same pricepoint as my Blaser now is. So it would all come down to the money, in NOK the Forester/Finnbear would cost me 6', the Rem/Gunwerks build est 42', the Sako 90 Peak 50', the Gunwerks 74', the R8 Ultimate now retails at 72'. I now experience better shooting, but the hunting experience is the same as when I was using my Sako Vixen/Forester/Finnbear rifles...
@@THLR I had bevor only experience with M98 and Sauer 202 - then I bought 3 years ago R8 Ultimate after watching Your YT channel :), after one chapter where You said that beter from Blaser is only a new Blaser I`have bought new (second) one :) now I search for some lite bolt action rifle for fox/roedeer hunting for middle distances - up to 400 meters. Sako 90 seems to see a proper chice for this purpose or maybe some of Steyr will be good as well. Thank You for advise..!!!
I'll drag you if you pad your arse? :D Painful proposition for both of us... If you do paraglider, there's quite a few of those around. The coastline has excellent thermals.
Thomas, you live in some very rugged country!
For sure. This trip is me walking from home. Not much here other than poor weather and nice scenery when you can see it.😂
Nice views and cracking looking landscape great video thanks for sharing 👍👍
Thanks David, hoping to start shooting in week 29.
Looking forward to seeing you videos when you get back on the rifle 👍👍
Looks cold and awesome Thomas
It's what passes for summer...😢
Beautiful countryside
Yes the region can be pretty scenic!
Hi, good modern alpenstock, good job, wellsone.
Thank you!
Beautiful country 👌
Very scenic area, you have access to "everything" the country has to offer inside a few hours.
Thomas, I gave up riding motorcycles and climbing mountains like those when I had kids. You’re a better man than I Gunga Din.

Fantastic effort 🤙. Train hard, hunt easy 👍👍

Hoi,is your bergstock a Mountrainer? Is it really a benefit when your hiking in the mountains? Do you use it also as a shooting stick?

Beatiful landcape. What type of stick you use?
This is a carbon stick from Mountrainer, Austria. HEP makes something similar. Makes walking with a heavy pack steady, especially downhill.
Spring came earlier I suppose?
greetings from poland!
Yeah we even have 19 celsius today!
As always ,,,,👍🏼
Thanks for taking the time!

I have filmed one episode now. Just in from my vacation, will edit shortly.
Hey THLR! Would you be able to tell me the camera gear that you're using?

HI Thomas, one question - if you have only one choice for bolt action rifle (no straight pull :)) - it will be..???????

Hello thomas. What do you think about Element optics? I recently check Nexus model which is made in japan.
Sorry, no idea. I have never seen one.
Good thing you have a stick, Norway has Trolls.
😂 those are further south, Dovre and Jotunheimen. Up here the midnight sun killed them off years ago 😮
