Since you asked: yes, the Hades scene is a little different. In the book he is angry, and believes that Percy is the thief, sent by Poseidon to start a war. He senses the master bolt in Percy's bag before Percy himself does. Hades demands his helm back, but of course Percy doesn't have it. He's bitter and angry, and unleashes the dead when Percy escapes, but that's only because he thinks he's being forced into an unwanted war. The calmer version in the TV show is actually more mythologically accurate.
So the movie had a slightly more accurate scene?
@@Chloe-wu8wl no definitely not
Satan!Hades, mythologically-accurate? Pfft… and they didn’t even do anything fun with it (the ages rockstar thing doesn’t save it); at least the Disney Animated “Hercules” did something fun (as much as James Woods as a person is awful, as a performer his passion there was magnificent)
And the movie is the only version where Grover stays in the Underworld in place of Sally… which also entails a lot of horny jokes because of course. *eye roll* Absolutely detest film!Grover being a complete joke, but it’s not even the worst part of those alleged movies.
@@borjankosarac3645Several differences. The Underworld is not hell and Hades is not considered to be evil, he's simply the ruler over the place where the dead reside and are designated to their final resting places. There isn't any damnation involved in the underworld other than when someone is sent to tartarus for their deeds.
Satan would be the overseer of hell as well as being a prisoner to it. That is where the bad people go in traditional Christian belief. Hell is a place that people are sent when the verdict has already been passed down. Whereas the underworld is where the decision is made for that.(Copied)
@@Chloe-wu8wl the movie scene is kinda even more inaccurate
Luke's betrayal hit different in the show...Charlies performance was amazing
shoe
@@luciacarpio9162 lmao i didn’t notice, ive corrected it thanks to you
RIP Lance Reddick, he really did an amazing job as Zeus
no
Right?! Lance speaking Ancient Greek really felt like a god omg
11:34 the palpable chemistry between sally and Poseidon is so good here they can’t even look at each other
sally’s actress is incredible, her performance honestly makes me wish she showed up more in the books
Ep 8 made me cry soo bad😭😭 like Luke betrayal scene Percy saying “just be a kid” to annabeth too much tears man😭😭😭
I loved how they changed the betrayal scene between Luke and Percy because this one actually felt so much more emotional and heartbreaking because they were both clearly hurting and not interested in hurting each other. In the book Luke just tried to kill Percy and left but here he actually just wanted Percy to understand and join him, but was overcome by his anger at the mention of Hermes. Both Luke and Percy showed their fatal flaws in this scene, with Luke it's his anger and with Percy it's loyalty (him apologising to Luke for cutting him even though Luke was actively betraying him because he still saw Luke as his friend).
I love this show
You should watch the documentary they put out about the making of this. It’s called A Hero’s Journey
"he looks like he belongs on the sea" WELL... he was a pirate captain
"just be a kid" IVE FALLEN AND CANT GET UP
Call Life Alert
you can't tell me that Percy didnt fall first im sorry😭the way that he was LOOKING AT HER when she put the necklace on him👏🏽🤭💕
On Poseidon’s actor, Toby Stephens (who BTW, is the son of Dame Maggie Smith): in the Tv Series “Black Sails”, which is a prequel to the classic novel “Treasure Planet”, he was plays the pirate Captain Flint. That show is phenomenal, if you haven’t watched it before it’s worth the time investment.
* Treasure Island 😉
@@jollyrayda My bad; in my defence, it's probably the best version of the story that follows the original beats, but yes... I fumbled that there.
The actor for child Percy doesn't get enough credit. His acting, especially at this age, is phenomenonal!
Perfect title; it was a great finale! I hope they have a season 2; the casting & plotlines were done well. Even the minor changes were well executed in my opinion. Glad we got to rewatch it along with you :)
Luke trained Percy bc he genuinely likes him, they're very similar, narrative foils even.
The emphasis that Luke uses when he says I am your friend 😢
The change of the dead line was to put the trio and especially Percy on a higher plane of responsibility and accountability than other demigods. To say that the fight is bigger than just this one quest which in reality it is being the war with Kronos. And that one shouldn’t give up just because the deadline passed. This makes the show more interesting than the book point. Fun Fact the man who play’s Poseidon is Dame Maggie Smith son aka Professor McGonnagal
Loved the show, as a diehard book fan it’s 10/10 ❤❤❤
RIP Lance Reddick
this got me crying with ya
😭😭 the look on those poor babies’ face. the only thing
that disappointed me was that annabeth didn’t say the line, but yeah my heart was hurting too for them.
the “family luke, you promised” line comes later! not this book
ooohhh right lol thank you 😂 it’s been years since i read the books so i only remember bits and pieces.
@@sammysosa192 you’re good! she says it in the last book before luke (spoilers!!) dies.
The Cliffhangers were Perfect, Bring on Season 2 😊
I dunno if anyone else has noticed this or if I'm just crazy, but it sounds like there's this soft repetitive noise almost like an owl hooting or an ocarina when Luke's dark side is being shown. I really like it. Reminds me a bit of Prowler's noise, Azula's chime, or Captain Kuro's distorted cat yowl in the LA One Piece.
It started sparsely when Percy was piecing everything together, then became consistent after Luke basically admitted everything and tried recruiting Percy.
If it is supposed to be like an owl hooting, my fellow book readers will understand that'd be some insane-ass foreshadowing.
At least, I hope it's a character noise and not just there to make the score sound cooler, that'd make me sad.
16:26
HE SAID THE THING
Because of what happened to Thalia, the trees here must be traumatizing for Annabeth.
Awesome reaction of my favorite episode of Percy Jackson And The Olympians!!!!😊😊😊😊
I must say I haven't read the books, but I'm really enjoying this series more than the movies , and yes I like the casting better in this thanthe movies.
It was great to see Mr Reddick as Zeus, even if just for one scene...Fights with Ares and Luke were really good :) Great season overall, can't wait for season two :)
I would recommend watching Black Sails Toby Stephens Poseidon plays a really good character in it. The creatives of this series are as well behind that show.
Medusa's actress was also in Black Sails, right? iirc
@@heyitsmira17yes! She played Max.
I looked up who played Kronos, and it turns out he was *also* on Black Sails.
That’s why Poseidon is captain flint from black sails most underrated show ever
Not gonna lie the thoughts that was most in my mind was "f him up percy" and "you tell him percy".."you go percy ,go "..
Found your channel because of Percy Jackson, staying for your more cos of your lovely personality ☺
I love your reaction Percy Jackson & the Olympics and I love every single episodes of this amazing, great tv series.😍😂
I’m a survive not a hero is a great line 😂😂😂
Watching this beautiful story with you has been a joy. You're such a ray of sunshine, and I love having solidarity with someone who also themes their outfits around what they're watching lol. Thanks for the reaction and I hope to see you in season two 💙
Glad you had a good holiday. You can tell you got some sun.
1. The first time percy actually sees his dad is when the king of the gods tries to personally kill him and Poseidon stops it and yields immedeately whatever war was either about to start or was possibly a day or two in. He's surrendering and giving Zeus the petty W for the sole sake of Percy's life. That's some serious show of love right there. .
2. Zeus points out that Percy is forbidden and Poseidon points out Thalia but instead of bringing shame to it he praises Thalia and appeals to Zeus' vanity (you can notice Poseidon's change in speech pattern when he's doing this)
3. This one is going to have the potential to be controversial for a few reasons, but it's my comment, I'm in the kitchen, let me cook.
Lance Reddick was the perfect casting choice for Zeus and from the frame of this universe's storytelling, let me explain why. The gods are personifications of rulership over certain aspects of the world, but more importantly, because Western Civilization rose under their management (along with all the implications that would have on the world as a whole) and partly because they aren't actively worshipped as they were 2000 years ago, their guises and ways they look change to better reflect the times they live in. To give several examples of this, in order,
Ares looks like a mashup of war veterans from Vietnam to the Gulf War, because hey, the greek gods live in new york and non-implicitly give their favor to america in this universe, they're gonna look like the "joe baseball" of their archetypes according at least, to western pop culture. So Ares looks badass, but he also gives the vibe of the worse aspects of american vets as well. War Isn't glamourous.
Haphasteus gives the vibe of distinguised scientists from 100 years ago (or at least, the stereotype of them for the longest time), but also the dishevelment takes on the western pop culture influences of Doc Brown and Rick Sanchez.
Poseidon, funilly enough, looks like the fittest version of Jimmy Buffet meets Sig Hansen from Deadliest Catch, because hey, the god of the Oceans takes looks from Margaritaville in Florida, to Dutch Harbor in Alaska.
And Zeus? He's in New York, Championing a nation where most of the big Artists in the last decade or so have been African American, recently had a black president, and as king of the gods, looks the part of Authority, check check check, but also in a universe where they all stay on the 600th floor of the Manhattan building like it's an incredibly grand hotel room, who better to look like than someone who was concierge of the Continental Hotel in New York City, Charon from John Wick?
Nice break from the UK weather. I was in FV last week.
If you like Toby Stephens (Poseidon) watch Black Sails - a pirate show set as a prequel to Treasure Island, and he's Captain Flint
I smiled so hard listening to 😂
wtf am I gonna do after work on Tuesdays now💀
same 😪
Read the books
Did she forget there is an end credit scene at the end of the last episode? 😂 film your reaction to that please! 😂
The one of Gabe turning to stone? I did lol, it’s in the video
we need the live action avatar to restore atla's honor and bring hope to us all :)
I have more hope now that I know one of the directors from this also worked on avatar
Correction, minor though it is & I don't blame you at all given you haven't read them in ages. The books are not Solely in Percy's POV. POV alternates between the 3 main characters of the book depending in Chapter, including Grover.
laurence fishburne should continue the zeus role in honour of lance reddick
Poseidon told Percy in the books he should not have been born on the show Zeus says it instead
In Poseidon's case that was generally taken by fans to be Poseidon putting his foot in his mouth and being as bad at speeches as Chiron
If I was Percy and my father said that to me that would freaking hurt
@@juanitamorgan5475 It did. But Poseidon seemed to be as bad as Chiron at giving speeches in the book. And that's saying something!!!😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬
Monica I was wondering if you noticed how tall Walker scobell got from episode 1 to episode 8?
And the kid who plays Grover. They both had serious growth spurts.
The wheel of time is an amazing show. Even if you dont react to please do check it out it hasnt gotten a lot of hype on youtube but its an amazing fanstasy magic show adapted from a book series as well. Unrelated but you look so pretty and glowy returning from vacation ❤..loved the reaction
I’ve seen both seasons!!
@@MonicaCatapusan ok no lol the ending was really good! Like the reveal for Luke, Leah's acting got better and it was really cute with the Disney world thing. I liked a lot. In the past in this series reaction i have been seeing issues with the show.
However, episode 7 and 8 pulled me back in! I still want it to get more darker later like it was in the books. Like as they get older like they did with the Harry Potter movies. Because Luke's backstory with his mom, and then Leo's Valdez, and hazel past, and nicos it gets more and more mature as go forward in the lighting thief. This is all i ask😊
I think Josh Brolin aka Thanos would've been a better pic for Zeus because not only does he like he could be Poseidon's brother. He also has that divine stage presence, that godly commanding voice and that warrior build.
Lance was literally eating as Zeus idk what you're on about
@@NyikoDorisAgreed!!!
Maybe he can replace Lance since they need to find someone who can honor the performance that Lance gave
@@WarGrowlmon18 Ahmm one's white tho
