I feel like you guys misunderstood how echo fighters work. They aren't alternate costumes, they're completely separate fighters that play similarly to the character they're based on (i.e Lucina to Marth, Pit to Dark Pit).

Zachary Noah No, they're just alts for Bowser Jr, not completely separate fighters. And their movesets are the exact same, no differences besides the clown car being aesthetically different.

they aren't even the same as clone characters, Echoes are a bit more similar to the origin fighter then clones such as Falco or Lucas.

Agreed, tbh I'm only wanting 2 characters and if even one of them gets in I'll be satisfied, I don't want a whole frick ton, I mean it would ad SOOI much variety to the gameplay but too much can be overwhelming

No actually. The Echo Fighters are not alternate skins for Marth, Pit, and Peach. They are their own character with their own slot. If they were alternate skins than they would have the same movement, attack speed, attack power, and same taunts and endings. But in actuality Daisy as we’ve seen has different taunts and her overall model is different from Peach. Also Lucina and Marth were featured in different character slots on the selection screen. Just because they have the same number doesn’t make them alternate costumes/skins, it just means they have the same play style and moves. Dark Pit’s electro arm and dark arrows have different qualities than Pit’s versions. If they were costumes that would be really odd to have a costume that does different things. There are a few different things that make them different.

The only real instance i can think of costumes doing different things is in Project M with dr mario as he has pills instead of fireballs and other tweaks

I'm surprised that Dark Pit is an Echo Fighter though, because his arrows travel slower than Pit's and his side b special has an electric effect.
+JericoTheGamer 101 That's literally the point of Echo Fighters. They're fighters who share the same move sets with another character completely, but with different properties. Like the slower arrows, or different elements, like you just mentioned.

Yeah I was really hoping they would have lived streamed the August Smash Direct so they would have known the hard truth about Echo Fighters but looks like they didn't. But there are 2 things coming for them.
1. When the game comes out, and when they unlock the echo characters and see them have their own slots in select screen that when they learn the hard way of misunderstanding the meaning of Echo Fighters.
2. The Smash Direct revealed that you have Echo Fighters have their own slots like in last game or stack them with the fighters they're based on. And NO it doesn't mean that when you do that it makes them a costume swap ITS still their own characters. They are only giving you that option to those who keeps saying those yadda yadda yadda stuff, so then can not view as a problem anymore. And I'm betting they will stack the Echo Fighters on the select screen. How many of you guys agree they'll do that when they get the game.

Lucina, Dark Pit, and Daisy are completely different characters. Just instead of being called clones, they're Echo fighters, because they are being treated differently from regular fighters.

@@Kill_Command lol directional air dodge is not a competitive thing. It's a normal gameplay mechanic. I never played Melee competitively and I knew that it was an old mechanic.

You guys do realize that echo fighters aren't skins right? Because the way you guys were talking in the video made it sound like that's the impression you guys are under. Echo fighters are clone characters, but they still take up a separate slot in character select. Dark Pit and Lucina are still separate characters; they're not alternate costumes. Just like Daisy is going to be a separate character from Peach. They all just have very minor gameplay differences from their original counterparts. They're still separate clone characters, it's just that "echo fighter" is just their official title now.
The guy expecting hundreds of echo fighters is expecting way too much...

I think they misunderstood the point of Echo Fighters. Like that it's for exact moveset copies that only have changes in attributes. It's not a bad thing but I just dont see them doing too many more than Daisy, Dark Pit, and Lucina.
New Nintendo Direct Comes Out:
New Echo Fighters - Richter, Dark Samus, Chrom. Also, Echo Fighters don't have to have the exact same moveset. Chrom doesn't have the same Up+B as Roy, who he is an Echo Fighter of.
