Thank you so much for this informative podcast! I have saved it in my favorites to listen to again as it has taught me so much about different types of needles. this is such important information that I really did not know when I started my self taught sewing journey and I have so much more to learn!

Such a useful discussion. Thank you for reminder to test, and keep options on hand.

What's the difference between microtex and the quilting chrome needles?

I have a Bernina Artista that only allows me to sew with Schmedt's needles. They really are the best. on my other machines I use Oregon and just change them all the time.
One other thing about needles is the numbering systems drive me crazy! The only concept I could wrap my mind around is number 9 needle light fabric number 16, needle, heavy canvas and denim. I just know numbers.
The numbering systems that needle companies use to identify what type of needle it is, like this 705 household or the h x1m nomenclature drives me ballistic! I have at least eight machines and three of them use different types of needles.

and to save myself from having to buy different needle types, I just buy ballpoint everything.
