Oh man, that was hilarious 😂 Anyway, things are clearly not going well, so I have a couple of non-spoilery tips (that I don't expect you to actually see, but may help others if they're also struggling):
1. You're "fat-rolling". Lighten your load.
This is what "Heavy Load" means. You even noticed it during the Margit battle, but you saw the damage reduction numbers went down by using lighter armour and were so scared you didn't even try out the mobility benefits. Don't try to tank hits with heavy armour -- you don't have that kind of armour. Instead, focus on not getting hit in the first place. Don't worry about poise - I don't think you really understand what it is. AFAIK it doesn't even apply to spell-casting in ER, which is what you tend to rely on.
2. Put the staff in your right hand.
Currently you're taking the shield off every time you want to cast a spell. Move the staff to the right hand so you can keep the shield up while casting spells, instead of leaving yourself totally open and vulnerable. You don't need to dual-wield a staff and sword.
3. Read the Messages.
Seriously. The whole "don't want to be spoiled" thing is a misunderstanding of what these games are about and the role that messages play. Not being an experienced souls player (as you admit), you assert that it ruins the experience -- so why do you think messages have been a part of every single souls game going back to OG demon's souls? Why do you think more experienced souls players keep them on and read them from time to time during their first playthroughs? Because it doesn't ruin the experience -- actually, it's an **intrinsic part** of the experience.
Some things you just won't discover other than through the community messaging system (like the presence of fake walls), and they also troll you a lot. It's all part of it. The messages you can write are limited/cryptic, and you're supposed to see them. You don't need to read all of them, but it's not smart to refuse to read any of them. You're trying too hard to be hardcore.
4. Do the tutorial.
You still don't understand basic concepts like guard counters, jump attacks, backstabs, two-handing, etc, etc... Again, there was a tutorial, and in episode 1 an NPC advised you to take it, but you just immediately decided "nah, I don't trust him that I'll survive the drop" and now you're fumbling around finding it all very difficult because you don't even know the basics.
5. Check out the Help pages.
When you're upgrading your stats, or checking out a weapon's stats, there's a help feature (see the legend at the bottom of the screen) which explains what those stats mean. It changes a lot with every FS game so it's important to check it out. Don't try to guess what intelligence vs. arcane is about, for example.
I don't think this is back-seating - I'm not trying to tell you how to play the game. These are just some basic tips (mostly just "read the intro material the game provides") so you hopefully won't spend so much time fumbling around and will have a more enjoyable experience.
Hopefully someone from his mod team or something reads this and shows it to him. You summed up everything he needs to know. He literally skipped the tutorial and doesn't even seem to know the basics of weight and equipping on both hands (which is understandable since BB didn't have those).
It's probably too late now for Berk to read this but I'd just like to add that honestly reading the messages gives the game so much more fun. I'd probably get bored exploring every corner of the map without all the funny messages like "Is this.. a dead end?" and "Praise the dead end" and "Is this.. God?" - "Look for God" - "Go ahead, jump" (on a ledge). Honestly that shit keeps me going into every corner of the map hoping for either an item, a nice view, or a funny message.
So they have these "trapped" areas that are more in line with traditional soulsborne level design and gameplay. That's pretty cool!

I really dislike how unclear the game is about certain things, such as Fia's blessing / debuff. It is such an awesome game with vast potential, yet is also exclusionary to new players, hindering them with obscure detrimental effects like that. Hopefully dansg08 won't be stuck with debuff and heavy roll the whole game. 😔
