The best joke that the Joker has ever told is when he says that Batman has “all the subtlety and nuance of a napalm enema” from the Arkham Knight game.
Dettlaff was the most intimidating boss I ever fought. I knew Higher Vampires were the most powerful creatures in the world and that they transform in their true form with enough blood stimulation but I was still not ready for it. I honestly didn't think he would be a boss because he is too powerful.
The fact Geralt held his own for so long is truly just a testament to how insane the Witcher transformation from the Trials is. Higher vampires are not only the most powerful in the world, but expected to be the most powerful creatures known in the multiverse, second in power only to phenomena such as Elder Blood and the White Frost. Geralt, a former HUMAN of all things, whooped his ass in his truest form, even if he couldn't kill him. That's fucking MADNESS.
It's brilliant because in the books he's asked once if he'd take a contract against a higher vampire. He's reluctant to answer at all and eventually says no-one could afford the payment he'd need to do it. He briefly tries to intimidate one into going away, too, but fails magnificently because his threats are ignored completely. So it makes sense that Detlaff is ridiculously powerful and that Geralt wouldn't stand a chance alone. It's one of the reasons why I don't usually fight him: I love Regis and I'm not thrilled to put him into a situation where he has to make that kind of choice.

He hovers around occasionally shooting you and gets killed in under a minute. Then his mask gets knocked off, and you see his true form as some sort of blue and yellow elephant thing and screams into the camera. I like the transformation of Lord Hyness from Kirby Star Allies. The boss fight starts off really slowly, he's just a guy wearing robes and a mask. He hovers around occasionally shooting you and gets killed in under a minute. Then his mask gets knocked off, and you see his true form as some sort of blue and yellow elephant thing and screams into the camera. Then he absorbs the souls of his three lieutenants, turning them into lifeless husks. And then you have to work your way through a bullet hell with Kirby physics.
It's like Lord Hyness is the son of Zant and the Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda series. And yet, he ended up in a Kirby game!

Actually, there is a way to save Dettlaff. It's a secret ending.
Polina Mean Pineapple all endings in blood and wine are fairytale endings? In my first play through Syanna stabbed Anna with a hairpin and they both ended up dying and Regis got banished by the vampires.....not what I’d call a fairytale ending.
There are basically 3 endings. Syanna dies, Detlaff gets away and Anna Henrietta locks Geralt in prison (my first ending)
Detlaff dies, Anna dies, and Syanna die (go see the unseen elder)
And an ending where just Detlaff dies. No fairytale endings in the Witcher
This is just like the Mustache Kid boss. She's super easy for the first phase, and then she goes omegasupersayian and pierces through time itself and becomes one of the most powerful bosses in the game.
Flaming Lorenzo is a rage-inducing segment because of one falling statue. Rather than push it out of the way and letting it fall like a normal person, you're forced to stand it back up. This often takes long enough for Lorenzo to catch up and instantly kill you.
