Couple of tips for the viewers:
1. Those of us who played early access of this game will recognize Hybridsteel's starting point as the old "default" one. But they recently put in several other options of crash points you can choose at the start of the game. This one is the "easiest" for starting the game, the one by the canyon to the northeast is easier for mid-game, and the one in the isolated crater is basically "hard mode."
2. There are shipwrecks all over the planet. Stay away from them until you have enough backpack space and storage built to explore them fully, because when you get too close there is a hidden timer that starts running for that shipwreck. If you wait too long, some of the loot inside will decay and vanish. This could mean you lose out on some of the more advanced plant seeds and tree seeds that you'll need later, some fabric, and a few other rare components. This timer only applies to loot that is sitting on the ground inside the shipwreck, not to loot that is contained inside storage chests.
3. The early part of the game will be a real slog, trying to farm those little rocks off the ground. When there is a meteor shower, new rocks will drop. If you use all the rocks in an area, it will trigger a meteor shower to refresh some of them. But you'll always be running low on aluminum, iridium, and uranium because they don't show up as normal rocks, the free deposits of them do not respawn. To get more of them you'll need to build some ore extractor machines. These require osmium, which is also very rare and needs to be mined. Once you have a few extractors built for each new resource, you can also put some extractors on regular dirt to mine for iron, silicon, cobalt, & titanium. What you get will be determined by the type of dirt you pit the mining extractor on top of. Once you get extractors for all the good stuff, you'll have an easier time getting the resources you need to start building a good base. At that point the game becomes more about exploration than the grind of picking up rocks.
4. I recommend building little shacks in the wilderness as you explore, leave a permanent outpost with oxygen, food, water, and a couple of storage closets every so often where you can take a break from the harsh environment. I also recommend carrying in your backpack the resources needed to build a room and a door, in case you need to refill your oxygen in a hurry. Then you can tear that room down and get the resources back, it's basically a portable tent LOL.
1:00 "TI" = "Terraforming Index" which is a measure of how close to "earth-like" the world is. More is better. As that increases, you unlock more research and construction options, new locations and resources will become available, and the climate starts to change, and eventually you start getting plants and animals on the map. If I remember right (from playing early access) there is a tutorial that explains TI a little bit farther into the game.
@Hybridsteel I like the inner monologue you gave your character. I'd probably be thinking most of those same things if I found myself dropped onto a barren world like that.
