Yes, the inevitable line of cat-named BattleMechs wasn't just gonna lie down for a nap after the Adder-Puma's own intro a couple of weeks ago. Besides, these follow-ups in the trend are 'fullblood' feline-named, showing up that previous snake-sometimes-called-a-cat model.
The Cougar's first full-color mugshot image in this video definitely cuts an impressive profile. I like the design aesthetics of those 'Mechs with aircraft-like cockpits flanked by banks of ordnance and weaponry. More pod space for more guns, keeping in constant motion like the soft stalking of an actual Northern big cat of the woods and mountains. Cheers, for a multitude of configurations. Such engineering outcomes are only advantageous and representative of a model's success across the universe. That blue-painted unit standing in a hangar in one image here just looks buff and tough for a Light-class build. Shooting eye lasers or not, I like that 'G' configuration's load-out..."not the beams!"
At first look the Pouncer bluntly lives up to any basic image that its name might imply. I appreciate that cockpit form, too; with a wide horizontal-ranging viewscreen also devoid of angular creases. This Medium upgrade looks stout and strong; its various armament variations support that impression as a solid heavier-gunner back-up 'bot.
I like 'em both! Not having come across the Cougar much less the Pouncer in my old and too-brief gaming days of olde, I would make use of both of these units together, in-mission. Combined with other, faster Light models. Thanks very much to you, GDN, for your BattleMech records keeping the deep interest in this franchise a-flaring. The Cougar is my favorite light mech of all time. It's the only scout I can build for direct combat and actually do good against mediums and even some heavies.

The Cougar is one of my favorite Clan mechs. Fast, hard hitting and surprisingly durable, it's a damn fine machine.

I have a metal Cougar miniature painted for Wolf's Dragoons Gamma regiment. I'm doing a couple of Lances of mechs with combined arms support for "Dark Ages"-era play. I've done a Wolf Clan/Wolf Empire Star all in tiger stripes for Dark Ages as well.
